I love this place so much. The coffee is fantastic (the iced mocha will change your life), the food is delicious (sausage muffin warmed up, please), and the baristas are extra wonderful (go enough and they'll remember your order). On top of that, the atmosphere is super comfortable. Whether it's for a cup of coffee to go, meeting up with some friends, or somewhere to do work or read for the entire day, 929 is the place to go in Starkville. I've spent 9+ hours a day there before (on a regular basis, actually), and I never felt out of place. I won't get coffee anywhere else now. It's the best coffee in town. Heck, it's the best coffee in Mississippi in my opinion. Bonus tip: Their events are super fun, too. Bingo Nights, Comedy Nights, and Art & Music Nights are all approved first-hand. 929 was my go-to study spot during grad school. The baristas are so kind and helpful with making menu choices. The frozen cold brew is the best ever. Loved this for a summer morning treat! The raspberry oat bars and sausage muffins are both a great option if you need a snack. The lunch menu is amazing - I tried several different sandwiches, soups, and salads! The inside atmosphere of 929 is a great place to study or grab coffer with a friend. The huge garage door style windows allow for so much natural light and are raised up when the weather is nice outside, which is very welcoming. There is a downstairs basement with booths, tables, and one long shared table. I much prefer to be upstairs because of the natural lighting and activity level; however, the basement has a great feel to it as well. I recently went to a private engagement party that was in the basement. 929 did an amazing job catering the party and checking in to make sure we had everything we needed. Love this place! read more

I had very high expectations for this place and I am disappointed. They were missing a couple of lunch items as well as having some technical difficulties. After waiting 45 minutes for my food, they finally told me about how their printer did not work and my ticket had not gotten printed. I asked for my food to-go, and I left upon receiving it. Before this place opened Starkville did not have a real coffee shop. Not to knock Starbucks or the good people at strange brew but when most people say "coffee shop" this is the exact sort of environment they are looking for. The staff consists of cute girls and bearded guys, there's a lot of seating for groups or by yourself, and the atmosphere and decor make it feel artsy but still fairly rustic and comfortable. Finally the menu of coffee and pastries is great. I recommend trying the pour over coffee at the bar. It's fun to watch as well as drink. My favorite place in Starkville bar none. read more

They are very much into supporting the town of Starkville and near by MSU. The small community makes it feel welcoming. The coffee is by far some of the best in Starkville, 100 times better than Starbucks and would even go to say more consistent than Strange Brew. Their eclectic decorations are pretty neat. The only thing that I have a problem with is they're just expensive as Starbucks. If not more. The taste is rich and worth it but on a college student budget it can be hard to go more than once every couple weeks. Their events are fun and frequent. 929 is one of my favorite chill spots. It has an awesome atmosphere with an upstairs and a downstairs that are completely different depending on your mood. I am from Orlando, and it is hard to find a place with this kind of atmosphere around here. I love chai lattes, and they are amazing here, as well as their danishes and lemon poppyseed bread. The service is amazing. It is definitely an atmosphere that is not typical of Starkville if you are looking for a bigger city feel to a coffee shop. read more

Staff are some of the most genuine people you will find, they really care about the community of Starkville and invest themselves in it to make it a great place. The atmosphere is very casual and welcoming, making it very easy to sit and stay a while. The food is so creative, there is nothing else like it around. I love 929! The baristas know how to make a very good cup of coffee no matter what you are ordering. They are very informative and make sure you are truly getting what you want. The interior is very impressive. Really unique and comfortable even though it is more industrial looking. The food and pastries are awesome for small bites and breakfast. It isn't very healthy, but it IS delicious. The hours have opened later which is awesome. I agree with the other reviewer about the music downstairs so last time I was in I asked if they could turn it down and they turned it off no problem and were very nice and accommodating about it. And just so everyone knows, they recently started doing cold brew and it is so delicious! So they definitely have iced coffee now. All in all, I definitely agree, a place like this was needed in Starkville for sure. The staff and owners are super friendly... Great coffee and latte's! I'm sure the other stuff is great too but that's all I ever get. Lots of different seating options depending on whether you're meeting a group for a Bible study or group study session or something, or just to hang out and read by yourself. It has an outdoor patio, and an awesome basement area with booths that are perfect for studying, and plenty of tables on the ground floor. I love this place! Great coffee and an excellent atmosphere. (And for a student on a budget, it's at the perfect price point.) I only have one problem: The female staff seem to always be in a bad mood, not wanting to make conversation or just completely cold and showing no hospitality. The guys, on the other hand, are fantastic. Making jokes, wanting to talk about the coffee they serve, these guys know what they're talking about and show great pride in what they do. Had it for the first time this morning. A family member recommended it to me. I liked seeing organic coffee on the menu but I did not like seeing the Great Value brand half and half in the fridge. It's no longer organic if you put that in it. They should at least have an all natural, preferably organic cream or at very least a higher quality cream then Great Value. The coffee tasted decent. The food however I was pretty disappointed. My quiche was just ok tasted like it was was reheated because they popped it in the microwave before they gave it to me. My husband's cinnamon roll tasted reheated and even got rubbery half way through eating it as it cooled. I know this is not their fault but I was told they had large portions and they looked big in the store so we ordered accordingly. A quiche to share and a cinnamon roll to share. the ordered to go and when we pulled everything out it was all so tiny. The quiche was not a meal for one let alone to share and not enough for $4.75. Cinnamon roll was a little bigger but still not what we expected. I don't know if I would go back. I definitely will not get food here again. I am not sure if I would get coffee here again. Still kinda small for the price. I will probably stick with Starbucks. I like supporting local businesses but I just was so disappointed. It will be awhile before I go back if i go back, but if I do I will check before i order. read more
