[[HIGHLIGHT]]Wow, the new space is so beautiful. From LIC, the successful 929 found a new, chic, spacious home in Midtown East with a four level space including Traveler and Hue House.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] 929 is the Taiwanese listening bar with a large and intriguing menu, honoring East Asian flavors in both the cocktails and the food. I got what I think is called time after time which has a homemade strawberry fruit crisp. The drink is on the boozier side but don't taste like it and for strawberry lovers it's a must try! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The music is bopping, there are bar seats as well as sofa seats - A+ vibe for a date or catchup![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

[[HIGHLIGHT]]The place is vibey and dim lit.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]When I arrived on a Friday evening, a lot of girls were dressed up nicely.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Great vibes and energy[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

[[HIGHLIGHT]]929 Lounge has such a sexy vibe and is absolutely perfect for a date night.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Maybe not a first date since it's definitely on the cramped side... unless you're already sure there's going to be a second one.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The cocktail menu being printed on CDs is such a fun, nostalgic touch, and every drink we tried was genuinely good. I'm already planning my next visit just to work my way through more of the menu. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Cool atmosphere, great drinks, and a spot you'll want to linger in.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Can't wait to go back.

Def don't see this often.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Drinks are more creative than that of downstairs in travelers. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Really appreciated the ambience and music[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Located on the 2nd floor of Hue House, a multicultural Asian American building, this is a nice sit down bar that features Canto and Mando pop culture influences. I love the tea infused cocktails and their craft is high up there. We made reservations a few days in advance which is mandatory in the weekends. Even if you want to only try the tea vending machine, you may not have luck just trying it since they mandated reservations or waitlist to get tokens, since a lot of people are waiting for tables for the 929 bar and there's extremely limited space on the first floor My friends and I were able to get seated 30 min before our reservation, noting we would only have 90 min which is basically the same rule enforced for a reservation at the original time. We tried the following drinks - Shanghai Summer Fling - their most popular drink. I really liked this one - fruity, tea, with a bit of tropical and foam - Heirloom + Folklore - clarified cocktail, smooth - Eyes, Smoke, Magic - an acquired taste - you either love it or hate it. I enjoyed it - smoky tea flavor profile that can be a bit medicinal in smell, and spirit forward - Years and Years - fruity and slightly herbal, has a nice fruit roll up like garnish to enjoy Drinks were delivered fairly quickly and we were able to easily catch up with one another as the place was not too loud while we are able to sit in close proximity without being too tight of a space. Water refills were abundant which I appreciate. While cocktail prices are above average ($21-28 each before tax and tip), you'll be rest assured you will be well taken care of!

Delicious drinks, a stunning interior, and incredible service. Just a tad bit expensive for drinks, but I understand what the 929 team is doing, and they're absolutely killing it. Their new location is tucked upstairs in Midtown East right bt Grand Centeal; moody, great jams, Taiwanese inspired everywhere you look. Bites and drinks were phenomenal, but as i mentioned just a little pricy. Excited to come back and try the rest of their menu.

Definitely need a reservation for this place. They're all very inventive drinks that use Chinese ingredients. Highly recommend!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Great ambiance, super fun vibes, great music, and creative drinks![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The cocktail that I ordered, shanghai summer fling, was very tasty. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's a good lounge/cocktail bar to sip drinks with friends.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The drinks and food is a bit pricey, and I would definitely stick with drinks because food was just okay and not worth the price. Of note, there's also a 90 minute seating limit, which was not an issue for us but may be for others.

Service: 4.7/5 Drinks: 4/5 Price: $$ ($20-30) For those unfamiliar, 929 is a Canto/Mando-pop themed bar just re-opened in Midtown, so they'll be playing nostalgic tunes all night. Sometimes there's a live DJ you can make requests to. Decoration-wise, it's very similar to their old location, just more elevated. Mostly booth seating (on plush red couches) suitable for smaller groups, or bar seating for solo/paired drinkers. The bathroom is kept very clean + smells good, albeit snug. A little bit like your walk back there passing the bar. The staff is very attentive (maybe a little too much), checking in multiple times to refill waters + take additional orders. I think they have a time limit, though not sure how long. I imagine it's around the 1.5-2 hour mark. What I Ordered (in order of preference): - Shanghai Summer Fling: tastes like my chinese gma's pickled fruit candy - Spring of Life: truffle-y + creamy, can't tell if I like, only shaken drink on the menu - Very Tipsy Poet: fragrant barley foam, kinda strong drink, grew on me - Years + Years: strong-ish - Memoir in a Tea House: strong, kinda 1 note - (off menu) Gin Fizz: very tart

[[HIGHLIGHT]]I'm a sucker for retro and this authentic speakeasy gives it in droves.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It gives old Hong Kong vibes and I especially love how the menu is in a book that resembles an album of cds.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] One of my favorite bars and I love the collection of drinks especially the Asian inspired flavors that permeate the creations. Don't hesitate to ask the bartender for their thoughts ! The service here is as amazing as their drinks

What a fun bar! Love the immersive theme, attention to detail throughout the space, and of course, the delicious cocktails. 929 is nestled in the backroom of a Taiwanese bento box / street food restaurant. As soon as you enter, you're transported into a lively but intimate space! I downed my drink in probably under 10 minutes, which was a first for me because I'm usually a sip-and-savor drinker, but the HKD was so addicting it was quickly gone...

Cocktails were delicious. I got the Shanghai Summer Fling and it was very refreshing and aromatic. I like the mando-canto pop theme. The CD menu was so cute and unique. One star off because the seating arrangement was a bit odd for a group of 5. We weren't able to sit around one table-- just one straight row along the couch.

The ambiance feels straight of the golden age, which is an aesthetic I'm certainly a sucker for. Even their robust cocktail menu fits the bill and is one of the prettiest menus I've ever had the joy of perusing. Staff was able to sit us a little bit ahead of our reservation which was also much appreciated. Wait staff was also very helpful and attentive, I don't think I've ever had my water glass so topped off! Starting off with cocktails, this place is a gin bar through and through and you'd be making a mistake if you didn't try one of their many options. I went with the 10,000 words, which you simply just give a spirit of your choice (I picked gin of course) and whether you antes) wanted your drink shaken or stirred and the bartender does the rest, so a bit of a surprise! I wound up with their version of The Last Word which was delightfully citrusy but I was hoping I'd wind up with something a little more adventurous app things considered. My girlfriend got the blackberry G&T, which was not only very pleasing to look at but delicious to boot. For food, we started with splitting some zucchini blossoms and beef cheek bao buns (both come in portions of 3). Both were tasty, but I love a good bao bun and these were so light and pillowy, I could have just went for an order of those for my main course. For the entree I went for the roasted half chicken, perhaps the most unassuming choice on the menu but this was maybe the best roast chicken I've ever had. Prepared perfectly, cooked to perfection, excellent portion size, and the kicker of it all was the stunning gravy that I was tempted to lick my plate for. Chicken is very easy to screw up, and they nailed it on all fronts here. My girlfriend went for the Valerie Signature burger with white cheddar and this thing did not mess around! A very rich patty, cooked to her temperature of choice served alongside some garlic truffle fries that made an American classic feel just a little more elevated. Our experience was delightful and I'd love to comeback here again, especially to check out more of the cocktail menu and soak in more of that golden age aura the place gives.

We jumped over to the bar right beside and drank some girly drinks before getting the notification our table was ready. As with nearly every establishment in NYC, it is very close quarters in paradise lost. We stood at a table while waiting for seats at the bar to become available. Which, we didn't mind. I could see how this might be a little harder to get a seat for a bigger group if you aren't there before 6. It seemed that once a group got a big table, they camped out. The drinks were strong and creative. Friendly bartenders, good music, and yummy options for bar snacks. Also, the bathroom is a nice touch. Given the hell theming for the bar, the bathroom is a 180 and while using the Lou, you can listen to the bible being recited. Theres also a spooky surprise if you press the button in the bathroom. Speaking of the bathroom, it is at the bottom of some decently narrow stairs. So, try and stay sober enough for stairs or you may fall. Go to this bar. You will have fun.

We wanted to have after-dinner cocktails in a chill space, so we searched on our phones & saw Paradise Lost address via Google. We proceeded to walk down & was unable to find the establishment due to their being no front sign. After walking back & forth a few times, we saw another group walking towards the door & they confirmed the place. We walked inside the front door pressed a "doorbell" & lo & behold we gained entry after the previous group went inside. Definitely an incognito entrance. Once inside that door there is someone to greet you, & take your information. There is a forest/ grass/ jungle-looking foyer/ hallway we walked down to get to the next door. Before we knew it, we were near the "Paradise Lost No Vacancy" neon sign w/ an arrow pointing towards the snake-shaped knob door. It gets opened & a supercool speakeasy awaits.... Paradise Lost has mixed style table / seating arrangements throughout the place. A bar seating section, booth-style seating area, lounge- style seating area, etc. We got there a little after 7pm, so the afterwork crowd was in full swing. Paradise Lost has interesting atmosphere. At times a Gothic / Medieval Vibe, meets place w/ shipwreck decor, meets eleganct /club vibe w/ beautiful ceiling lighting, etc. Music played in the background. Staff are friendly, energetic, & attentive. We were pleasantly overwhelmed w/ the vast selection of tiki cocktails that were on the menu. Paradise Lost also have an intimate selection of snacks/ food menu items. This included Popcorn, Tater Tots, Devilled Eggs Rangoon Dip, etc. We ordered some cocktails served in unique tiki mugs & a bucket of popcorn to munch on w/ our drinks. The popcorn is flavored w/ Sea Buckthorn & Browm Butter, which gave it an special flavor profile. Our cocktails were well-prepared & nice & strong. Paradise Lost has individual unisex bathroom stalls & a communal vanity & sink area. The bathroom stalls have spooky voices coming from a speaker as you use the bathroom. I was so humorously taken aback, it had me laughing when I came out...Definitely a different thing to experience in the bathroom - lol. Before we left we watched one of the bartenders do a cocktail "fire" presentation for some patrons in a booth seated area. Wow.... Paradise Lost accepts walk-ins only, no reservations. Paradise Lost accepts groups of 8 or less, unless you are requesting to book the space for a private event. Ages 21+ paradiselost.nyc @paradiselostnyc Paradise Lost is open everyday - 5pm-2am.
