There are a lot of positives to this hot pot restaurant. I would say the amount of choices on the bar are one of the best I have ever experienced. They have multiple types of kimchi and all of the vegetables you can imagine. I enjoyed the carrots , cabbage, broccoli, and mushrooms. They had 4 different types of mushrooms which was a nice option. The kimchi was fresh which is my preference over the more fermented style. The sauce bars had a lot of choices as well as some posted instructions on how to combine them into the perfect sauce. The lunch value here is phenomenal. For $15.99 (buffet only, no premium meats) you can have an all you can eat hot pot experience. The offering on the buffet is plentiful and will provide more than enough sustenance. The buffet items are fresh plentiful with various types of mushrooms, leafy greens, fish cakes, hotdogs, taro root, carrot, potato, etc. I also loved the Korean sides (various kimchees, ttaekkbokki, kimchee and vegetable jeon, etc.). I've also had the all you can eat premium meat dinner ($39.99) and the meats were quality, fresh, and delicious. I kept ordering the shrimp, prime brisket, ribeye, pork, and the portions were large and plentiful. They did not skimp at all and when I said was done, the waitress asked, "Are you sure? You should get one more plate of meat..." So if you want AYCE hotpot where they don't skimp and try to short you, try 9292 Shabu. read more

For meats and seafood, you can get brisket (definitely recommend it because it contains some nice fatty parts), lamb, chicken, pork, clams, mussels, tripe, shrimp, and a few others. For veggies, there is watercress, spinach, lotus root, beansprouts, mushrooms, tofu, and others. There are also frozen items, including fishballs, fish tofu, dumplings, imitation crab meat, and noodles. There is also a sauce bar where you can put together things to make your own. Stopped by this hotpot place in the middle of the day on a Saturday afternoon (around 4 pm). The inside of the restaurant was nice and clean, and we were seated and taken care of right away. Our waiter was kind and provided us our broths (we chose spicy dashi, beef bone, and dashi broths) and utensils immediately. My group of three opted to do the AYCE which was pricey at $41.99 per person, but we had access to the entire buffet of vegetables. Meat had to be ordered separately with the waiter, and we decided on ribeye, lamb, pork (and ordered each of these 3 times). The buffet options were pretty good - sauce section was a bit small compared to other hotpot places, but they had a lot of veggies and fish cake options. They also had a drink stand with rice punch/cinnamon drink, and another with orange/coffee slush, which I found unique and tasty. I've been on the hunt for a good hot pot place in GA since my move from Cali (SGV ayyyyyy), but I think this is going to be as good as it gets. This is more of a Korean hot pot, but they do have an okay mala broth. I wish they had a miso one for my other half, but he made do with the beef one. The meats were all okay too, though I'll be honest and say I can't tell what is what between the lamb and beef. Definitely do NOT get the pork/chicken, as those are bone dry. In all honesty, I think the star of the show are their immense variety of appetizers and other items such as veggies, noodles, etc. that you can get at the communal area. Everything is actually quite decent and I think I stuffed myself silly off apps more than the actual meats. Probably the best shabu shabu/ hot pot place in the area! I enjoyed eating here but had to take a star off because of the price. I heard from other people that this place used to be ALOT cheaper but they really jacked up the price after the new owners took over. It's $18 to use the buffet without the meat during lunchtime(which I guess is a reasonable price with inflation in mind). But you would have to pay a lot more to get the meats. If you want unlimited meats, you have to pay $40. You also have to pay an additional dollar if you want bone broth or mala broth instead of the regular dashi stock. I ended up just opting for the veggie option and I surprisingly enjoyed it a lot! The buffet area has a good selection of toppings and veggies like noodles, dumplings, cabbage, bokchoy, mushrooms, taro, etc. They even had fried rice and kimchi which were also delicious! My favorite was the sauce bar because it had so many ingredients I could mix in. tldr; I'm a 9292 stan through and through As a part of the 9292 restaurant family, 9292 Shabu definitely does not disappoint. For only $14 (on weekends - cheaper on weekday lunch/dinners!), you get a mini-hotpot with a choice of broth and a unlimited buffet of veggie, noodle, etc. options! No extra charge UNLESS you want a la carte meats. Otherwise, you can choose the Unlimited option which includes meats and seafoods for $30. This time, we chose the Unlimited option and filled up on the prime brisket (my fav). The brisket was fantastic, just as I'd hoped from being a big fan of their 9292 KBBQ restaurant. The ribeye was also pretty good if you like a leaner option. The baby octopus was also really good (tip: just let it cool and eat it in one bite -- it's kinda tough trying to bite a piece off). The squid was eh. There are also so many buffet options, including japchae, tteokbokki, dumplings, pulled noodles, assorted veggies, fish balls, and sausages (and more!). There's also a pretty extensive sauce bar for you to make your own dipping sauce AND there are posted recipes for ideas if you need some pointers. The service was also great and super friendly - our waitress brought out our meat orders super quickly and also was quick to refill our broths whenever we needed. Only downside I would say would be the tables are a little small for all the plates, which is kind of a non-issue since it depends on what you're getting from the buffet. For our table of six, it was just a bit hard to squeeze all our plates on the table + the hotpots + meats. It's also a bit difficult for the server to refill the broths for the inner seats so some people have to slide out of the booth for them to be able to reach. Overall, a fantastic shabu shabu place that I HIGHLY recommend! While it is simmering you go and get all the fix'ns you want from the buffet. Love the vast selection of veggies, starches, noodles, dumplings, odeng (fish cake), and prepared foods they have. Then make an amazing sauce, this is going to be the main point that really highlights your meal... if not, it is just bland boiled food items. Then sit, boil items, dip generously in your sauce, and eat. It is yum!! They also offer a variety of proteins that you can order on the side as well. Mostly a self serve kinda place, but servers are very attentive. They clean away empty plates quickly so the table doesn't get too overcrowded. Also a bell on the table if you need more immediate service. This is a korean place that actually responds to the bell, and just doesn't ignore it. Downside is they went up on price when the new owners took over, but when I went today, looks like they brought the lunch price down a tad. I LOVE 9292 Shabu. This place is only 5 minutes from where I live, and I take every opportunity to come here for lunch. It's only $9.99 during the week for AYCE lunch (for base price). If you want to add meats or seafood, you pay the extra charges. Or, you can pay $29.99 for AYCE with everything included. I have never paid the extra price. I always order the $9.99 unlimited, and I leave more than satisfied and insanely full. They're mini personal hotpots for each person. You get to pick what broth you want. Then you can go to the bar where you can get unlimited veggies, noodles, dumplings, kimchi, and sides. There's honestly more than enough things that you don't need the unlimited meat. They even have different kinds of noodles for you to add. There's also a sauce section that you can create your own dipping sauce. And, you can order unlimited eggs to add to your hotpot. 9292 Shabu is honestly the best price hotpot you'll ever get. And it's great quality for your money too. 9292 Shabu was my to-go spot for hotpot because of the variety of toppings available. The waiters here are also friendly and the restaurant is spacious. I was surprised to see that prices spiked here. I went during the weekend and for just the buffet with no meat, it's $25. If you want the unlimited meat option with the buffet, it's $40. I barely eat much so I don't think it's worth it for me to dine here anymore. But for all foodies who love hotpot and buffets and can consume $40 worth of food in one setting, this is the restaurant for you! read more

I came here for my birthday dinner with my parents. This was their first hot pot and they were overwhelmed but after a while they got the hang of it. I loved having the all you can eat feature. They had no short of options and things seemed fresh. They even had some cooked options which was nice to munch on while you waited for your food to cook. Our first waitress wasn't very friendly and didn't really take any extra time to help out my newbie parents. But then we got another waitress and she was fabulous! I think 9292 Shabu is currently one of the best mini (individual) hot pot restaurants in metro Atlanta. What makes 9292 Shabu stand out from other hot pot restaurants is their unlimited self-serve buffet of Korean appetizers/sides and hot pot ingredients like noodles, rice cakes, fish cakes, mushrooms, and vegetables. It's great. Only meat and seafood are served at your table; you get everything else yourself. While this place seems more quantity over quality, the quality is actually pretty decent for buffet-style eating. During our visit, everything on the buffet was fresh and clean. The selection was ginormous. 9292 Shabu opened in January 2019 in the Reynolds Crossing (Kroger) shopping plaza at the corner of Steve Reynolds Blvd and Old Norcross Rd. It's part of the 9292 family of Korean restaurants which presently includes 9292 Korean BBQ and 9292 Gopchang (intestines), all located in Duluth. This is a Korean hot pot restaurant. If you've been to 9292 Korean BBQ, you'll notice the layout and atmosphere of 9292 Shabu is similar. It's big and spacious with plenty of seating in a large, sectionalized dining room. They have private rooms too. This place is great for groups. There are lots of staff on-hand and they wear headsets to communicate. The space has an open, contemporary look to it and, like 9292 Korean BBQ, there are tons of TVs playing K-pop music videos. Typical of Korean restaurants, there's a convenient server call button at every table. Ventilation was good, but not perfect. With all the hot pots boiling away, the interior did get fairly humid with condensation build-up on the windows. However, our group never felt uncomfortable nor did we leave the restaurant smelling like hot pot. The format is simple. You can either order a la carte meat and seafood or purchase one of the unlimited all-you-can-eat options. If you do unlimited, the entire table has to order unlimited. If you order a la carte, you pay a base price per person ($9.99 weekday lunch, $12.99 weekday dinner, $13.99 weekend/holiday lunch/dinner) - this gives you access to the buffet - plus the cost of each meat and seafood order ($3.99 to $8.99 per plate). There are two unlimited options and they cost $29.99 (option A) and $34.99 (option B) each with set menus: six specific meat and seafood selections for option A and nine for option B. The restaurant offers 17 different meat and seafood selections total so if you want to go for variety, I recommend a la carte, though value can certainly be had via the unlimited route, especially if you order lots of ribeye. You cook everything yourself. If you like to drink, they have a nice variety of beer, including Asian beers, soju, wine, and sake. The buffet is beautiful and functional. It's accessible from two sides and shaped like a snake rather than a straight line which I believe eases congestion. The buffet was well tended to and well-stocked during our visit. There are two sauce stations which is helpful. Hot foods like rice, soup, tteok-bokki (spicy stir-fried rice cakes), and japchae (stir-fried glass noodles and veggies) are only available during peak hours: 12:00pm-2:30pm and 6:00pm-8:30pm, weekdays and 12:00pm-8:30pm, weekends and holidays. We went with a la carte to try most of the beef cuts: * Prime Ribeye - $8.99 (2x) * Prime New York Strip - $7.99 * Prime CAB (Certified Angus Beef) Top Blade - $6.99 * Prime Brisket - $3.99 * Tripe - $3.99 You can't get the Prime Ribeye in any of the unlimited options; the best you're going to get there is the cheaper "Choice Ribeye" (regularly $6.99). Our server steered us away from the Prime Non-Fatty Beef ($4.99) and flat-out did not recommend the pork ($3.99). There are five broth options: dashi and spicy dashi (dashi is fish stock), vegetable and spicy vegetable, and beef bone. I ordered the beef bone and also tried the dashi and vegetable broths. I liked the beef bone the best, but it was also the richest and savoriest, so some people may not like that. The dashi broth is a solid default broth. Most of your flavor is going to come from your sauce anyway. If you don't know how to mix your sauce, there are helpful suggestions at the sauce station. I recommend following those guides if it's your first time. I custom-made mine with Sichuan peppercorns, chili oil, sambal, minced garlic, scallion, cilantro, and sesame sauce. It was terrific. I love how they offer numbing Sichuan peppercorns on the buffet here. I've never seen them on a buffet anywhere else. The Prime Ribeye was definitely our favorite meat so we ordered it twice. However, all the cuts were delicious and good quality. The tripe was served frozen. I really enjoyed the kimchi and self-serve tteok-bokki (very appetizing). Some of my favorites from the buffet included the pork dumplings, assorted fish cakes and fish balls, mushrooms (enoki, oyster, wood ear), tofu, watercress, lotus root, taro, and cactus and spinach noodles. I am conflicted as I write this. The good is great. Lots of options and tasty. The food is Korean style shabu. Which I prefer. The service is adequate. Nothing great but nothing bad. The tables have the greatest invention ever, the call button. The thing I think is its greatest issue is the price. I understand inflation and that quality food deserves a higher price. However, I think the price here is a little too high. A family of 4-5 here is very high. For the cost, I can grab a good steak meal in midtown. Decreasing the price by $5 I think will be perfect. One more suggestion, please cut the green vegetables to a smaller size. I feel like the entire plant is served, without being cut. read more
