I had Donkatsu at their Happy Hour price($10.99) , and boy, their fried pork cutlets surprised and exceeded my expectation. The lightly sour tomato sauce cut down the fat and softened the crunch of the cutlets, which I really enjoyed. Fishcake udon was a no brainer for me because of the simple ingredients, but the flavors delivered. Kinda disappointed with the Korean Army Stew Ramyun because it tasted like something I could've cooked at home, but I guess it was to be expected. Dan Moo Ji is a casual spot for Korean eats. I think this place mostly serves street food or comfort food (so no Korean BBQ or spicy tofu soup). The inside is pretty simple and there is a server who takes your order and brings the food to you. My friend and I split the Donkatsu Omelette Rice, Spam Kimbob, and Kimchi Ramyun. The Donkatsu Omelette Rice was good as the donkatsu was crispy and not oily. However, the fried rice had corn in it which I am not a fan of and I thought the sauce on the egg did not appease my tastebuds. I got the Kimchi Ramyun but I do not know why as I like kimchi as a side, not as a flavor. They add a lot inside the dish, such as bean sprouts and kimchi, but it was too sour for me (although it was my fault for ordering it). I really liked their Spam Kimbob! It was tasty and filling. They also offer a complimentary soup, which I think is a type of fishcake soup? That was really savory. The portion sizes are also huge, which is nice as the pricing is really reasonable. I love coming here during my 1-hour lunch breaks! Super casual place with some k-pop music videos playing on the tv, plenty of seating, cheap prices for a great quantity of food. Located in the Nukoa plaza, there is enough parking in the lot, but sometimes gets packed. Service is good, they are usually pretty quick to take the order. So...my dining experience here has been up and down over the years, but it's been awhile, so I thought I'd try them again. I saw pics of their Donkotsu plate on Yelp, and felt inspired to go... Well, I ordered the Tonkotsu plate...but as it goes, it looked NOTHING like what others got...all on a big black platter. Instead my version came in a hodge-podge fashion...cafeteria plate format. So yeah, the presentation was terrible. WHY?!? This is not how this Tonkatsu platter looks for all others. This has been a common experience for me here at this restaurant. Everything I get looks nothing like what's pictured (and not in a good way!). Luckily, it tasted good enough. I will say, however, that the service was good. In our case, there were about 15 of us. The gentleman, came around and took our order. He brought pitcher of waters and glasses as well as soup brought. Our orders arrived fairly fast and still hot. My chicken omelette over rice is awesome, well prepared taste fantastic! My order came with mash potatoes, kimchi and salad. Others in my party also ordered Udon soup and such. My friend picked this place for a quick dinner on a Saturday. Immediately walking in, I was hit by the delicious smell of sesame oil, which is always a great sign! We got seated right away by the kind host who was also our waiter. The meal started with their complimentary flavorful simple broth and two sides of daikon. This was my first time having a burdock kimbob which pleasantly tasted exactly how I imagined it was going to. The bbokki was a perfect portion for 1 and having the hot sauce on the side was the play since it is incredibly concentrated so be careful! The sauce was thick, sweet, and spicy, perfect for dipping. To top it off, the dakgangjeong was crispy and matched the palate of all the other dishes. Overall, I had a great experience. Food here is pretty hit or miss for me, though it comes down to preferences. My friends and I always get their odeng (fishcake skewer) whenever we come because they also give the soup with it. We also always get their kimbap. Love both, though kimbap isn't hard to make or get in Duluth. That being said, if you order spicy tuna kimbap here, the tuna isn't spicy, they just use normal tuna and spread a spicy sauce on the rice before rolling it up. I found that very disappointing, especially when I couldn't taste the spice. As for the donkatsu plate, the pork cutlet was nicely fried. It wasn't overly oily/greasy and was a good size. My issue: I know donkatsu sauce uses ketchup, but their proportions for the sauce weren't for me. The smell of ketchup was overpowering and off-putting, considering I didn't order the dish for myself; my friend got it and shared. The pork by itself tasted good, and with the sauce it tasted fine as long as I don't use too much. Personal preference, if you prefer a more ketchup-y donkatsu sauce, this may be right up your alley. I ordered the bulgogi cupbop. It wasn't bad, though the rice can do with a lot more flavor. There's salad, sweet mashed potato, choice of protein, and fried egg with sauce drizzled on top over fried rice. There was not enough sauce to add flavor, and the rice needs it badly. It was very bland and had bits of corn and onions in it, which did nothing for the fried rice in terms of flavor. It seemed to use quite a bit of mayo. There's also one dish that's on sale, and when we went, it was the donkatsu plate. No one tells you outright that it's at a lower price, or at least they didn't tell us. There was a sign at the entrance near the counter, which is why my friend ordered it. They give a stamp card for customers after the meal to come by more often. You get fried dumplings after your 5th visit and a 10% discount after your 10th visit. read more

It's a very casual environment, and it's definitely better for smaller groups. Soup: I'm not sure what soup was included, but it was addictive. Very savory, reminded me a little bit of miso. Spam kimbap: highly recommend the spam kimbap, especially if you like spam. Donkatsu Curry omurice: this thing was massive. I struggled to finish it, and it was very flavorful. Danmooji is great and a wonderful place to eat when you feel like Korean finger foods. My wife came here for lunch while getting our cars worked on at a nearby mechanic and enjoyed our meal very much. The service was friendly and the atmosphere was very comfortable and felt hip. The extra spicy tteokbokki is good, nice heat. The rice cake is still decently chewy. The two pickled cubed radishes are a nice banchan and accompaniment to the food consumed. The fried potato and the squid are both good. The kimmari is okay, maybe too big for what it is, thus too many potato noodles. The squid is a bit heavy on the tempura batter. The rolls are packed fully. The spicy chicken roll has two to three small pieces of chicken in it, quite nice. It's a good roll. The kimchi roll is decent, it has the perilla leaf, which wasn't expected. Not too bad. The spicy tuna was the better of the 3 rolls, slightly sweet with the yellow pickled radish in it. This is the first restaurant I've reviewed three times, and for good reason. Their menu keeps evolving in the best way. They've recently added Korean tacos, buldak ramyun, bibimbap, and kimbap with new fillings. Some of the side dishes have changed too -- the potato salad no longer has raisins, and the sauce is sweeter. The bulgogi cupbop was a perfect balance of savory and sweet. It came with rice, thinly-sliced meat marinated in sweet soy sauce, fried egg, potato salad, and veggies. The sauce was mildly sour. The bibim dumplings came with spicy and sour sauce, shredded cabbages and carrots, and the pork filling inside was absolutely delicious. The spicy grilled chicken kimbap had jalapeños inside that added a great kick. It was my first time trying soju, and I loved it -- sweet at first with that classic burning aftertaste. Absolutely love this spot!! I've come here a couple of times and it always hits the spot. My boyfriend and I share the Lovely Combo which comes with Ddukbbokii, Kimmari, Fish Cake and a kimbap roll! Let me tell you the fish cake soup is literally my favorite item in this whole set. The broth is so flavorful without being too rich, and I will always get a container to go because I just can't get enough. Dan Moo Ji in Duluth, GA sells Korean-street food and is amazing! I have been a fan of this place for over a decade! They have very reasonable prices for their offerings and it's big portions. This is why it's 5 stars for me. I LOVE their donkatsu kimbab. It's so crunchy, blasting with flavors, and well balanced texture. It's like eating a donkatsu bento box in one bite. Dan Moo Ji always offers free fish cake broth and it's a staple in Korean street food. If you want to eat in Korean style, I recommend buying some ddukbokki (like spicy rice cakes). Their rifle came in Ddukbokki is very soft and the flavor is good. You can order Kimmari, which is like fried tempura of sweet potato noodles in seaweed. You get a kimmari and dip it in the sauce of ddukbokki. Then take a sip of that fish cake broth. I also love ordering fish cake, which will come on a stick that is the perfect pair to the soup. The service here is nice. I prefer to order Togo, but they have some seating inside. Its nice inside. The ambiance is kind of lively by always playing K-pop, which is catering to that young crowd! I AM BACK AGAIN!!! Dan Moo Ji is TWO FOR TWO! I got their Kimchi Omelette Rice again, and holy moly it is so good. The kimchi itself coats the rice so perfectly and the FLAVOR!!! It is phenomenal. You get some pickled radish after you order and some broth which was nice and surprising to me I ordered the shrimp omurice and I got a lot of small shrimp inside my rice. I went here for my birthday dinner with my family 4 days ago (this will make sense why I'm telling you this in a minute)! We love the soup that comes with the meals, and my kimchi cheese omurice was great! The food was great but my main reason for leaving this 5 star review is because I realized I left my birthday card from my parents (with almost $100 inside), and when we called they told us they still had it! Dan Moo Ji is a decent little Korean spot. We always go there when we are in town. Their kimbap is delicious and reasonably priced. The only downside we've encountered is their inconsistent hours. On one occasion, we arrived 40 mins before their listed closing time on a Thursday night, and were told that the kitchen had already closed. That said, the food quality is what keeps us coming back. Not a bad little spot, tucked into a strip mall. Service was polite and the food arrived pretty quickly as well. Kimbob may have been previously rolled and just cut on demand. It wasn't bad by any means, it just seemed a little stale/dry. The dumpling/salad was by far my favorite. Sauce was sweet and spicy, all of the ingredients were fresh and the dumplings came out piping hot...perfection! Bacon Omerice was our favorite out of three we tried...all the sauces and the smoky bacon just elevated the dish to the next level. The Donkatsu was fried perfectly but the chicken and the breading lacked any seasoning...like there was none at all...I'm guessing the curry was supposed to carry the chicken through...but it didn't even drag it along. Cheese corn and side salads with the Omerice were standard and tasted as they should.
