My experience with Hopvine Brewing was incredibly disappointing, and unfortunately it ended before we were ever able to order a single beer or meal. On July 26, 2026, my wife called the restaurant specifically to ask if their patio was dog friendly because we planned to bring our small dog. She was told that it was. Based on that information, we drove 31 minutes to the brewery looking forward to trying several of their beers. When we arrived, the employee informed us that only service animals were permitted on the patio. I explained that my wife had called ahead and spoken with a male employee who told us dogs were allowed. The employee admitted he was the person who answered the phone, but first claimed my wife never mentioned bringing a dog. I was present during the call and know that she specifically asked about bringing our dog. He then changed his explanation and said he "must not have understood." I found that explanation difficult to believe. I then informed him that our dog is a service dog. Instead of asking the questions permitted under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), he repeatedly asked to see the dog's credentials. Under ADA guidance, businesses generally may not require documentation or certification for a service animal. Even after I explained this, he continued asking for credentials. To make matters worse, this all occurred around dinner time when the restaurant and patio were completely empty--we were the only customers there. The entire experience left me feeling unwelcome and frustrated. Whether this was the result of poor employee training or company policy, the staff handled the situation in a way that reflected poorly on the business. I drove over half an hour to visit a brewery I was genuinely excited to experience, only to leave without ever being served. I'm an avid craft beer enthusiast who travels around the country reviewing breweries and sharing my experiences. It's unfortunate because Hopvine had several beers I was looking forward to trying and reviewing. Instead, my only takeaway from this visit was a very disappointing customer service experience. I hope Hopvine provides better training to its staff on both communicating accurate information to customers and understanding the ADA's requirements regarding service animals.If you're posting this publicly, you may also want to attach any evidence you have (such as a call log showing the timing of the call) and keep the review focused on your firsthand experience, as that tends to make reviews more credible. Until then I would avoid this brewery at all cost until they can update their pet policy and provide better customer service. read more

I love Hopvine! It's a brewery located in a strip mall tucked away from the main road. I've been here twice so far and loved everything about it. I recommend getting a beer flight to try different flavors. Or once you find something like you (for me, it was the Brightfire) then you can get a pint! Their beer list is extensive, there are so many taps to try and they have some seasonal beers too. Their food was good and surprisingly gourmet. Each time I came here I ordered their wings because they were irresistible. You can even do half-half sauce for an order of six wings, which I appreciated because not all resistances will do this special request. It also shows that their wings are freshly prepared, and their kitchen went above and beyond to make a customer happy. I love their hot honey and buffalo. My husband has tried their patty melt and their Reuben sandwich. Nothing beats a brewery with nice people, great beers, and the gourmet food was just the cherry on top. They have a ton of space inside, don't let the strip mall entrance deceive you; bar seating, high tops, low tops, and a whole other dining area in the back if you want a quieter space. They have something similar to trivia on a weeknight, survey slam (?), and now that it's warmer, their patio is open! The brewery has been on my radar so we decided to stop in on a Saturday for lunch. Located just west of the Fox Valley Mall. We arrived around 1230pm and no one was at the hostess stand to greet us. As a matter of fact we saw no servers or bartender and there was only 2 people sitting at the bar. This seemed odd but we walked around looking at their beer list and seated ourselves. The interior is beautiful with lots of spacing between the tables and hi tops. The bar area is huge. Unfortunately this is about the only good thing we experienced. The hostess brought us the beer,drink,specials and everyday menu and while my wife was not even seated yet,the server asked us what we wanted to drink. Why the rush? We told her to come back so we could look at the various drink and beer options. My wife is Gluten Free so we asked her what she would suggest for a beverage..she had no clue. My wife had a cider and I tried 3 tastings of beer ...To The Top Creme Ale which was very light...Lag R Me a Lager which was very hoppy and their EHD Brown Ale which confused me because it was very light for a brown ale - see pic. None of them were outstanding in my opinion. They did have a few food items marked GF so we decided to try their chili which was a daily special and their Hopvine Nachos. We waited over 25 minutes with no explanation on why . There were only 3 people in the dining area! We noticed the other patron asked "why the wait" as she had an appointment and the bar tender told her it should be only a few more minutes. The chili was flavorful but all liquid. Only got about 3 spoonfuls. The nachos were basically melted cheese and frozen grilled chicken from a bag. No flavor,very little toppings and could not taste any beer cheese. All the nachos underneath were basically just chips. We mentioned it to the server Emily and she just took our plates away without saying anything. At the same time the other patron having lunch finally got her entree ,took one bite and left. Said it was not worth even taking home! The hostess came by and we explained what was wrong but she wasn't listening I showed her the 10% discount coupon I got from checking in on Yelp and she gave us a real hard time accepting it. When she brought back the bill she said she wanted to give us $5.00 off on our next visit but we had to spend $35.00..really? We normally never complain about what we order but this time waiting over 25 minutes for mediocre food ,paying $40.00 with no apology was not a good experience. What a great place! Super impressed with their craft beer offerings and their amazing food! Pretty large setup with plenty of tables and bar area. It looks like they have a private party room too! The burgers are our favorite. We met up with friends and family and called hopvine about half hour before we got there asking if they could set aside a table for six. They did and the waitstaff was so great. He recommended i try a few beers as samplers and they are now my favorites i am telling all my friends that hopvine is a hidden gem! read more

A brewery is hidden at the Fox Valley Mall around back. Hopvine is actually in a strip mall separate from it but same difference mostly. It has a pretty good amount of beers on tap. Even more impressive is that these aren't all IPAs. They also have some all right bar food such as pretzels. Came by with my cute female friend. It wasn't busy and we got a seat at the bar immediately. This must not be that popular of a place because it wasn't busy even on the weekend. Amazing not more people know about it. We got some beer and food too. I had a Chasing Apples. It's about $6 for most pints. This one was a combination of fermented apple cider and a saison. It also had cinnamon. This was like apple pie. She had a Farmhouse Rye, also good. We had a hard time ordering food because there's not much vegetarian. After awhile we got the Pretzel Bites. It's $8 for a bunch. These come with pimento cheese and sriracha honey mustard, or you can get regular mustard too. It was good to snack on between sips so we could keep a good pace and not get too buzzed. The entrees are mostly expensive and there's not a lot of good vegetarian choices it seems. Had a good time coming here. It has a lot of great beers to choose from and a variety of styles. Stopped here for a quick lunch while out and about because my husband wanted to try their beer. Nobody was around to seat us so we sat at a high top in the bar. The hostess then came by with menus and she was pleasant. The waitress took our order and brought drinks quickly. Our issue was with the food which was sub par and took over 20 minutes to come out. The nachos were barely warm and really not good. The chili was hot but very watery. Beer was weak. When the waitress asked how everything was while clearing she looked worried because we left a lot on the plate. She then told the hostess who rushed over and was pretty confrontational. We were just describing how we didn't enjoy the food not asking for anything. She offered a $5 off when you spend $35 coupon which we left behind because we won't be back. Another patron complained about the food wait and left without eating. A family with two little ones walked in then left immediately. I wish we would have. Actually atrocious. Here this past Saturday for lunch. Ordered their house rootbeer - rootbeer was flat. Order Cobb salad, there's no egg for Cobb salad. Order mandarin salad they have no mandarin salad. Order soup they have no soup. Decide to give in and order Cobb salad, asking for a tiny bit of extra bacon to make up for lack of egg. Salad comes with the tiniest dressing cup I've ever seen. We ask for a little more dressing. Server brings out two more tiny cups. Mac and cheese was cold. Loaded baked potato- inedible. Pork on Cuban sandwich looked like alien meat. We didn't say anything about anything and decided to just accept that we wouldn't be returning until we received the bill and saw they charged us extra for multiple things on our bill, including the two tiny cups of dressing and the tiny bit of extra bacon that was added to the salad. I'm remembering the 5 star review that I had written previously. Based on beer and service alone, I would give those a five. I enjoy the beer and server was excellent. Food is definitely where they lost stars. Both my boyfriend and I didn't really care for our sandwiches. Pork was greasy and hard to chew. Burger was overflowing with condiments. Side salads were decent. My advice would be to come for a beer or cocktail as they have plenty of choices. Staff are super nice. Go elsewhere for food. read more

We were there on a very quiet night. I think we were the only diners inside. First time for the 3 of us. My friend had the swordfish. She said it was delicious. My friends and I discovered this lil diamond a couple months ago. Since then, we've collectively dined and brought our families just about every week. Everything we've tried has been awesome: shrimp/grits, cajun pasta, tacos. I am obsessed with the spin dip: being house-made.. it's not filled up with cream like Fridays type. It's the actual ingredients and a recipe of perfection. The fish/chips: superb. Not deep fried, greasy battered type. The mini donuts a MUST. In talking with the chef JB, he prides himself on making everything from scratch and that's evident. Hopvine recently added slot machines so that's a fun little activity if that's your jam. My wife and I love this place! We've been on and off regulars for a few years now, and it just feels like our very own Cheers. We started coming for the beer and cocktails from the fully stocked bar because it's so close to home, and the atmosphere and quality food choices on the menu drew us back for more. TOn top of that, the entire staff here are so welcoming and friendly. These are good people running a fantastic business like nothing we've ever found anywhere else in this area. Well what can I say...Chef Andrew is amazing! I've walked by this restaurant for a couple years not realizing just what a gem it is. Thanks to a friend I finally walked in and have been back three times in two weeks. Their grilled Caesar salad with grilled chicken is to die for. The house made dressing is unlike I've ever had in a restaurant. They've just rolled out a new brunch menu for Saturday and Sunday and it didn't disappoint. Hint...take someone with you and share the biscuits and sausage gravy the Aurora hot chicken and waffles. It was the hardest thing choosing between the two and I couldn't wait to try it later so I convinced my friend to share. I'm not a drinker but my friend swears their mimosas are one of the best he's had. And if that's not good enough you've still got their many choices of IPA's. This is your GOTTA TRY SPOT! The food is only overshadowed by the awesome customer service. The chef came to the table three times. His roots truly explain why he's got this food thing down. We needed a place to meet some family in the area and I had saved this place on my Yelp list some time ago. Entering you will find it is a pretty big place...a lot bigger than it looks from the outside, It's tucked in a strip mall corner and pretty easy to find. They have a really nice large patio area that I would love to come back and use. We asked about flights as I did see anything listed, they do them a bit differently. Each beer has a flight price (that I missed) so you can do as little or as many as you like, I am a big fan of this concept. I ended up getting 6 and I really enjoyed them all. They have quite a few different drafts and some outside beers, it was an impressive selection. On to the food, they have mostly the kinds of things to expect to find, pretty typical gastropub menu. Being a cool fall evening I was drawn to the Meatloaf, my wife got the Fish and Chips. We also started with Pretzel Bites, a perfect beer pairing food and Hushpuppies, I wish i took a pic before they were immediately devoured, these are upscale Hush Puppies served in a row of 5 or so on a bed of beer cheese, they were elevated deliciousness.The food overall was very good, the meatloaf came with asparagus that was cooked softer than I would have liked but that's a minor annoyance. The large slabs of meatloaf were stacked on a pile of mashed potatoes that were a bit too thick and gummy but everything tasted good. My wife was very impressed with the whitefish fish and chips. It's a fun place especially with a group, it was very empty when we were there and we look forward to going back soon. read more

Been here twice and I've been satisfied both times. On my first visit I tried the fried pickles as an app and I loved them. They were huge slices and the dipping sauce was delish. My entree was the grilled ribeye sandwich. My sandwich was ok, nothing spectacular about it. For dessert I had the bread pudding and it was fantastic. I ordered a flight that day and I really liked all the beers, my favorite was the sour beer. The second time I visited I ordered the breaded pork tenderloin that came with gravy and biscuits and roasted green beans. This is the real reason why I will be back, this was absolutely delicious. The outside was crunchy and the inside so juicy and tender. The gravy was the perfect combination to the pork and the green beans were cooked just the way I like them. The portion was huge so I had enough to take home and have for dinner the next day. It heated up nicely and the breading never got soggy. I had the Summer beer and their version of the margarita. Beer was great margarita could use some improvement. The first time is brought out in a tiny martini glass. I thought it was odd that it was served like that. When the server noticed it she laughed and went to get me another margarita in a tall glass. She explained the bartender was new. No biggie. Both times our server has been Julie and she's great! She knows her beer and is very funny. She was attentive but not over bearing. I know I will be back soon. It's very quiet inside, not many patrons or staff. It'd be nice if they had some music playing at least. Also it's in a unassuming strip mall, although right by the fox valley mall. If you go I'd recommend there Hefeweizen and skip the ipa and the Pilsner. The NEIPA wasn't bad but the Hefeweizen is there best option in my opinion. I've been twice now expecting to get the drink specials listed on their own website only to be told they no longer have those specials (they actually don't have any drink specials anymore apparently). When we told the bartender their still listed on their website, her response was "Yeah, we know". That's just poor restaurant managing at the best, false advertising at the worst. Had a wonderful dinner with visiting family from out of town. The beer is very good with many different options and varietals to choose from. My kids love the pretzel bites with the pimento cheese, so that's our go to starter. The entrees were delicious. My wife had the shrimp scampi, and daughter had the crispy rice. I went with the brat and it did not disappoint. The grilled cheese with pork belly added on looked delicious and so did the BLT, which is what our guests had. The kids had cheeseburger sliders, which aren't printed on the menu, but the server can hook you up with a couple of kids options, which is really great. The service is always great here, and tonight was no exception. We'll definitely be coming back to this gem of a brewpub. read more

A-OK is a good way to explain my experiences at Hopvine. I've been here a couple times now. Once just for drinks and a couple apps up at the bar with my husband, and once with a group of 8 for dinner and drinks in their dining area (for my birthday). I'm going to spell this out REAL easy for everyone - with bullet points of course. Here we go... GOOD: - Beer flights: You can choose up to 6 at $1.75 each (or maybe $1.25, I can't remember). I enjoyed them all but one! - Spoon Salad: Yummy and great for splitting - Lobster Mac & Cheese (on special): AMAZE. Still thinking about it. - Live acoustic music occasionally - Located conveniently right next to the Comedy Shrine which is bomb dot com BAD: - Service, service service: Slow. Like REALLY slow. Which is not ideal when you're trying to be on time for a comedy show next store. Wait staff seems uneducated on the menu and beers as well. - Fried pickles: MEH. - Pretzel sticks: Not great when I had them (my sister liked it). Mine were hard to bite into, as opposed to the soft pretzel like app I was expecting. WILL I BE BACK? Most likely. I live nearby so it's a super convenient place to go grab a beer. I'll stick to sitting at the bar though if the wait staff doesn't kick it up a notch. The Mac N Cheese was fantastic so I'll be back for that too. TIP: If you're going to Hopvine before a show at the Comedy Shrine, be sure to give yourself PLENTY of time because the servers definitely aren't in a rush. read more
