*This 99 Cents Store Location is Batting a Thousand* Been to a few 99 Cents Stores within the Desert Cities and lots throughout Los Angeles Co. But this is by far the best because of the friendly Customer Service from the entire team I've encountered -- led by the MVP Store Manager, Lourlinda. I called to ask a question about a particular item, and Lourlinda stepped up to the plate and knocked it out of the park -- going above & beyond the centerfield wall to accommodate me. Then had the pleasure of meeting her when I arrived to pick up the item that she held onto for me inside her office. The store is alway clean, organized and fully stocked. Located in a fairly large strip-mall with an abundance of parking...and there's a separate lot right smack in front of home plate. In my experiences, nearly every 99 Cents Stores carry the same items & products...but this particular location on Monterey in Palm Desert stands out from the rest due to their Gold Glove Customer Service. Nice 99 cent, larger than the other in La Quinta. Clean restrooms in a large shopping structure. What's not to like about a 99 cent store? (Some of the annoying people? I always love shopping at the 99 cents store. They get far superior items to any other Dollar store chain and the stores are a bit nicer. This location is fairly new and huge. Very clean and well stocked. Friendly staff and no wait at check out. You never know what you will find here and your best bet when you see something you like is stock up, they might not have it again. read more

Occasionally, there are deals. Mostly, there are no deals. Most worrisome? Most items are marked with a price, and definitely not 99 cents. Yesterday, I witnessed the cashier (Adrian) be rude to an old lady and a gay man. This guy NEVER says hi or thank you. They need to fire this fool. I've been to this store a number of times over the years especially for party supplies. I prefer it to the competitors' stores in the area. This store, near the Walmart shopping area on Monterey, is always clean and well stocked. Today I went over to pick up mylar balloons for a birthday party. (I called yesterday to be sure they had helium and the balloons in stock. They did - Great!) Today the store mgr, Eric, helped us. He helped us select the balloons - big or regular size, color and quantity for the occasion. Eric was beyond helpful! He spent time with us and we ended up with the ideal selection of balloons for a special birthday occasion. And the price can't be beat! Eric was wonderful and made the whole decision process (I know, what's to decide about balloons, but this was for a unique situation) easy and fun. read more

The store super clean, very organized great deals tables so that was specials you can see over the shelving which is which is nice because I can't see over the shelving. In the store looks like it has more to choose from them any of the $.99 store I have been to. They are stopped up and ready for summer. It's just a lot of fun to come in here! This 99-Cent (actually 99.99 cent) Store opened recently but I have only just had a chance to visit. It seems bigger and cleaner than the one in Cathedral City and it's always fairly busy. Because they deal in mostly overstocks and off- brand merchandise, you may not always find exactly what you are looking for. I was looking for dried pinto beans and they were out. Usually you can find an acceptable substitute, but not this time. It's a good first stop, anyway, and if you can't find what you want, Wal-Mart is just a short distance away. read more

It's been a while since I've been in this particular store, I walked in and was taken a back at how large this store is in comparison to the store in Cat City. I was in the area and thought I'd see what this 99 cent store had to offer as far as Halloween items they might have, and if they are different than the Cat City store. This store was turning over from Halloween to Christmas. The items were OK, but I wanted skull decorations. The shelves were thinning, and not much available for what I was looking for. I did manage to drop $17.00 and filled two bags with goodies I found, mainly produce, a couple of 1.5 ltr bottles of Pepsi for 99 cents. I found some rubber and cloth mats to put under my doggies bowls, they are messy eaters. The mats were 99 cents, such a bargin. I almost bought one at wal mart the other day for $5,00 the one thing I did notice were some items where more than 99 cents. So be warry of what you put into your cart. This store was cleaner than Cat City or Palm Desert, but less busy. read more

I frequent this $.99 store as well. It is larger than the one on Highway 111 and so there's a little bigger selection. The choices as I stated in my other review include car supplies, tools, pet supplies, holiday decor. It is such a blessing in these economic times to be able to purchase and feel good about what you are taking home to your family or friends. Thank you $.99 store employees. This store is a fraud. They advertise 99 cents, but items are .999 or 1.99. They overcalculated the tax for Palm Desert. It means only a few cents, but it is all false. I asked the checkout person why it said .99 = 1.00 on the screen and she said, that was the tax. A lie because tax was added later. Be aware. Go to the Dollar store where at least hey are honest. read more

Came to this store at 9:48 , at the door they said sorry we are closed even though it's said on the door closing 10:00. Store manager Cindy was very rude and was turning people away even though the store was still open for another ten minutes . I like the Palm Desert, Monterey location because it is cleaner, looks more organized compared to the Palm Desert store on Hwy 111 or Indio store/ Hwy 111. But a few times now, last night the icing on the cake, the checker was rapidly scanning and bagging at same time as I did Atm payment at counter. They do not load bags in your basket... that's your task. However, last night the girl is ripping a double speed scan & bag, rips off my receipt & hands to me as I'm putting my money away... she continues with the next customer, sliding next lady's bags into mine mixing them up. I commented how fast she was! She cockily replied with "thank you". I asked," .. but which are my bags? ". She grabs a few and says, " those are yours". I get home, unpack my bags & noticed missing products / 5 items. I live across town, and @ $4.00+/gal. I'm forced to drive a round trip to recover $5.00 of food! Pain in the butt, to be nice... I was ticked off. I wanted these particular items (stocked up) because occasionally you find brand name deals that would be $2-4.00 more @ regular grocers. Besides a buck is a buck in this economy!! I called 1st to complain but had to Google store location for phone mumber since they do not print it on receipt!! Another issue. The point is, if you are fast and efficient, that is great. But when you are fast & causing customer anxiety, losing money by screwing one customer out of product & giving freely to another that is Not Good Buyer Relations. The fine line of being overly confident... becomes arrogance creating unhappy customers. This is aiken to The Tortoise & The Hare story. Another time, my friend checking out ahead of me had 1 of his items slid into my group. Versus ringing him up after my sale, she said she'd put on my check and he can pay me! Went into 99¢store around 930 pm a few weeks ago. Woman at register was horrid to me. Asked for a paper bag. She swore she only had plastic. And when I pointed out a whole stack of papers bags in next register area right in front of her, she refused to go get me a couple paper bags. Will never go to this location again if this is how they let their employees treat customers. read more

This is your typical 99 cent only store. Nothing really special about it. Even though that may be, I always find it great to save money on things by buying them here. I think the only thing I can say is that the employees could be a little nicer. Maybe it's because they aren't getting paid well, but not one of them I've come in contact with at this store ever smile or are happy. Come to think of it, it's like that at every store. read more
