My favorite Grocery Outlet is downtown Palm Springs. They do a good job of properly tagging the shelves below the products with the prices. The store is clean and tidy and well lit. Beautiful produce. The prices on snacks, condiments and cheeses are generally considerably lower than big box supermarkets. It's fun to poke around and discover unusual and interesting products. Walk slowly down the aisles, there is a lot to look at! I'll bet you say "wow!" at least once during your shopping visit! Their store brand ice cream is excellent but only 4 flavors. The fruits and vegetables area looked as though it was the dumping area for rotting food. Otherwise, the shelves were empty except for the most expensive items on the shelf. The lower priced items were gone and when asked if they were restocking the shelves, I received a response that it likely wouldn't be until the weekend. My go to food stop for great items that you don't see often out west. Hellmans mayo, even though it's the same as Best Food. Lots of gourmet condiments that are half the cost if you can even Find them. Great wine snd beer selection . The owners are very nice people and they are locals with a local business. read more

The produce area was horrible with rotting tomatoes and knats flying around . The store is ok for quick items you need to get if you don't want to go to staters or Albertsons . Honestly you can shop at the other stores for the same prices . I bought cheese and when I got home to open it was molded ! Workers need to check product ... regardless if this is a discounted store. Today I spent $27 on various items and saved $280 ~~ not a typo ~~ see the pic of my receipt. The Manager, Kat (in Cat City ;) is one cool Kat, runs a very tight ship and everyone working here, no matter which shift, is friendly, accommodating and swift. Also, I've noticed a Major League improvement for their produce...and they're carrying more Organic items than previously. I can't say enough about this place and praise them to all my family, friends and whoever takes the time to read this. I must say I really like shopping here. Not all the items are a good deal, but it sure is convenient. If you look around you can always find some awesome deals around the store. The only 2 issues I have is that they seem to have dropped the ball on labeling the price on items? This never was a problem in the past? And the other issue is that they are stocking and blocking the aisles during the day? Shouldn't this be done in the early morning or late at night? Oh well, still luv the store! read more

My first visit. Enjoyed the time I spent. Unfortunately when checking out it was quite a different experience. I had a coupon that was from the Palm Desert only location. I didn't see that it was locally owned and independent operated. My bad for not reading the small print. What I didn't appreciate was the attitude from "Rocco" the cashier/manager. He shamed me to the point I wanted/should have left my $65.00 worth of goods. Still feeling shamed, I called to complain to a manger. He answered and said he was the manager. I knew it was not going to get any better, He continued to berate me. I will never return...and Rocco should take his east coast attitude and head back east. California doesn't treat people like that. read more

The Cathedral City store thankfully stopped playing loud rot-gut country music, but there are no deals in the store anymore. I can go one mile up the street to Stater Brothers and get the exact same Chobani yogurt 32 oz. for a dollar less. But what really soured me on the place was buying my favorite cookies only to get them home & find that they had a rancid flavor. I checked the sell-by date and they were on the very last day. The odd thing is, when I visit Santa Barbara and go to the Grocery Outlet there, it is a completely different store with friendly clerks, a decent produce section, many kinds of coffee, a whole freezer full of odd-lot ice cream of brands I would like to try, many pizzas, frozen bags of shrimp and fish, weird interesting chips, strange kinds of tea, and still some excellent prices. I read somewhere that each Grocery Outlet is a franchise so maybe each store reflects the personality of the owner. read more

I wouldn't shop there again if they were the last grocery store in the area the checkers are so disrespectful to the customers. I asked if they gave veterans discount the checker said he didn't think so, but he asked another person if they give veterans discount and the other person said we don't have any cards to offer so no we don't then another person behind us asked if they were going to open up another register and the guy with the beard said what do you think I'm doing here? What a disgrace to the industry I have worked 39 years in the industry I've never seen any disrespectful people like that in the industry in my life and this was late evening news in the afternoon where are the owners that goes to show you they don't really care about the Customer or their store I spent $132. You can't go wrong here if you're discount shopping, and I was glad to see one of their stores open in my neighborhood. I came for their grand opening and was happy with what I found, though it wasn't a lot because their NOSH section (Natural, Organic, Specialty, and Healthy) is much smaller than the Palm Springs store's. But people on more typical diets shouldn't have any trouble filling their carts here. I got a laugh out of the firewood for sale just outside the front door... it's 116 degrees right now, so if ANYTHING ought to be sold at a discount that would be it! read more

Today marked my second visit to this store. I am so impressed. The people are friendly and helpful, the stock, for a smaller store, is more than adequate. The produce looks good, the selection of breads is good, and while I am not familiar with some of the brands I see, so far they have all been just fine. I understand from one of the people on the transition team that these are franchises, each of which is locally owned. Well, hats off to the owners of this one. They have a good team, and they seem to be treating them well. This place is a real asset to the neighborhood. read more

I usually like the bargains at the store, but today I was very upset!!! I had a $5.00 off groceries but the coupon had all sorts of restrictions. I was told the bacon was dairy, the water is dairy, etc, etc. I finally got the right foods to get my $5,00 off but I was ready to leave the whole cart of food at the store and walk out with nothing. Been to this store at least 20 times since it opened. The "Kids " they employee are your "typically" raised Californians. Not very friendly and don't have any personal attributes to contribute to the company, other then working as minimally as possible for a pay check. I hope I can have one of my sons, who has been raised properly, work there soon (our house is 4 blocks away) as I have a coming of age teenage who will hopefully be polite and an asset to this growing company. read more

Stopped by Grocery Out let in Cathedral City, and had the worst experience I have ever had at a grocery store. I was looking at some ceramic pots, ask for assistance and a clerk showed me where they were. The were priced at 19.95, the clerk said they were on sale at 1/2 off with the end of summer clearance sale. When I arrived at the check out counter the clerk said no they were at regular price. After a brief conversation, the clerk repeated they are at full price if I wanted them. I decided to decline, with her arrogant attitude. I also purchased a plant for 6.99, upon my arrival home, i noticed the plant was Not placed in my shopping bag either. Called the store this morning and spoke with the store manager Her attitude was just horrible, and could care less. I told her I don't wish to return to her store after the bad experience, she said if you want your $ 6.99 then you will need to return, no other solution. Bottom line there are 100's of grocery stores in the area, this one is off my list forever. read more

I have to admit I do not come to this store often. The prices are great but the staff leaves a lot to be desired. The aisles are not that large and when staff are stocking the shelves they make no attempt to make room for the customer. Even when you are clearly looking for an item in the area they are working, they make no effort to move or assist you. I am always left with the impression, stocking shelves is far more important than the purchases of customers. Typically, it is not a very friendly store, however I did go recently and 2 of the employees actually extended a greeting and offered assistance. Perhaps one day, the owners will make an investment in customer service training. I end this the way I started, I find great prices but the staff offsets that with their lack of customer service focus. read more

Some of the items, like cheese, wine are discounted great. Others not so much. Plus you must check on the expiration dates as they put items on sale as they approach expiration, which is great as long as you are aware. Biggest complaint is the staff, whereas some of the men shelfing items are friendly, some of the ladies/teenagers/young adults at the check out counters are nothing short of RUDE. read more
