    8/13/24 FYI, departments
    Lee D.

I hope this is a different owner from the 99 Ranch on Homestead...? This location is run so much better. See other Yelp review. Quality/Quantity - Decent size market, see all my pictures. Has all the departments. Came to the bakery to get my guest a snack as we will not have lunch until 2pm. Driving back and forth to SF today, but you already know that if you are following. Got two buns, both were good. A little more greasy than I would have preferred. I should have gotten the steamed ones, too late. Just thankful my guest did NOT make a mess in my car. Atmosphere - Very organized. I especially liked the fact that we enter one entrance and exit in the other. Plenty of mall parking, even though it is a smaller lot than most. Open 7 days a week from 8am to 10pm. Good size restrooms, but could use a cleaning or remodel. Service - Self service deli. The lady that rang me up was quick and friendly. She said something to me in Chinese. I think she was trying to tell me that it is 3 buns in an order...? I only needed two. Well it only came out to $3.50, so I was not stressing. Price - $3.50, inexpensive in my book. Owner Suggestion - Since I will NOT shop your other 99 Ranch on Homestead, maybe I will come here instead...? Congrats on your success since 1984 with your 54 locations. Again, if it was NOT for that one location on Homestead, I would probably be a regular customer. I believe you are also a franchise system...?

A good Asian supermarket conveniently located near De Anza College, so it's easily accessible from anywhere within the South Bay. And also, because of the Cupertino School District, the demographics consists of mostly Asian decent so this particular store tends to stock items not available at other Ranch 99 locations. It's also very clean & employees are quite courteous and helpful, so this would be my go-to place for any Asian groceries.

Old rundown parking lot with potholes and speed bumps not marked
    Kay O.

This particular ranch 99 has a very old field to it. Some of the stores have been updated but the parking lot has huge potholes and random speed bumps that are not marked/Painted so be careful if you are using any equipment to help you walk. People in the parking lot seem to get rather irritated with the potholes and drive carelessly into your lane to avoid them, at the same time driving incredibly close to you and where you're walking. Once in the store it was incredibly cold, so with the 85° weather outside and me wearing a tank top inside, I started coughing abruptly. Lol at least I had my mascon. Masks are not required, just recommend it. Everything at the store was fine and very organized granted The cashiers were very slow at checking out my one item, yellow curry. Lol perhaps I was just in a hurry since I only had a 30 minute break.

    Moldy ramen for 5.49$
    C W.

So many expired things in this store. You have to check twice for the expiration date. I bought some refrigerated ramen on yesterday. I just realized today there are molds in them.

Counterfeit.  The owner in Hong Kong has clarified that his mom & pop shop has NOTHING to do with this copycat

I was worried they would be close by the time I get there since they close at 5pm and it was 4:45pm when we got there. There is parking in the back that you can drive in and park. I told them I wanted 120 Pacific oysters and the worker brought it out right away. They were $120 but since I used my card to pay, they tacked on $5 to the price. I think you have to spend a certain amount to avoid the $5 credit card charge. They asked if I was ok with it and I told them it was fine and proceeded to pay. They have newspapers on the side that you can use to put in ur car so the water from the oysters doesn't get on the car carpet. The oysters were really good and tasted fresh. We ended up killing all 120 oysters last night. Highly recommend this place for oysters. I heard certain hours of the day, the place can be packed so be prepared just in case you can't park inside and have to find street parking.

The produce section was not as extensive as those at other Asian markets, but it was still adequate. However, the store carried many unique candies and snacks that I have not seen elsewhere. Notably, sakura flavored products were especially common during my visit. There were two large sections dedicated to premade meals, including rice bowls, hand rolls, onigiri, and sushi. The rolls seemed overly heavy on the rice, with relatively little fish filling. The prices also felt somewhat high for the portion sizes. However, the store offers a 20 percent discount on sushi and bento boxes daily after 6 PM. I ordered the nigiri combination, which included salmon, tuna, and scallop. The scallop was plump, and the tuna was sliced thickly. The salmon was slightly thin but still rich and fatty. Overall, the fish quality was good. The sushi rice was above average, with a distinct vinegar flavor despite being refrigerated. The total cost for the eight pieces was close to restaurant pricing, though the convenience factor partly justified it. I would rate this market a 3.5 out of 5 but rounded up for the good sushi rice. I would recommend shopping elsewhere for produce, but this is a good place for snacks and premade meals, especially after 6 PM.

We got lunch boxes and they were meh. I like the banchan and the quantity of food, but the protein dishes were lacking in freshness - the eel was better than the kalbi, which was just lackluster at best. Will go for the sushi next time. I did score black rice and toasted black sesame seeds along with rice paper. And the gluten free baked goods of course. Until next time!
