    Strawberry cream cake $34
    Cin-Yee S.

Stopped in this past weekend to grab a birthday cake after seeing that Mary's was out of the ones that I wanted. Good service at the bakery counter and a beautiful cake for $34. Wish the filling had fresh fruit rather than just flavored cream but the texture of the cake and the decorations on it were great.

So all of my visits have been for specific Asian items or produce. I don't partake in the live fish or the fast food at the front. Although there isn't great Customer Service (as in no one is walking the aisles to help), I still am always satisfied when I leave the store. Perhaps it's because I know I can't get what I'm looking for at a regular grocery store. This particular time I was looking for a Knorr's packet of Tamarind Soup Mix. I had already tried my local Asian market with no luck. I came here and although it too me about 10 minutes of scouring the aisles and reading everything in sight (I was also willing to accept a Tamarind paste). When I was just about to give up, I went to a different aisle and found the packets I was looking to buy. No worker was ever in eye or earshot for me to ask. But I do usually try to find things myself. They also carry some pretty fabulous Green Onion Pancakes in the Freezer section. As for produce, I will get my Asian Pears, Bok Choy and Lemongrass. Here's What I Think...This is a great place to go if you're looking for a specific item that can't be found in your local grocery store. No, the Customer Service isn't stellar, but you will walk away being able to make a great dish.

I love this market! Everything is clean and reasonably priced. For every $20 you spend they give you a $2 coupon to their bakery/deli area. Produce was fresh and lasted a long time.

    Tiramisu ($25)

    * bakery and deli review only * I must say, the deli is a great place to get fill the tummy when ur in a pinch. It's self serve and you can really pile in the food if you want. My mom loves getting the fried shrimp with heads. Is it the most hygienic? Nope. And the food itself isn't amazing or anything either but still flavorful enough for me to come back. We recently bought a small tiramisu from the bakery section, and while it was decorated really nicely, the cake itself was too dry in my opinion. Okay coffee flavor, nice presentation, eh texture. 2/5

*DELI REVIEW ONLY* Ok, don't ask me what I was thinking, but the first time I tried their deli (about 3 months ago), I got food poisoning. This was back when covid protocols were more strictly in place (or so I thought they should have been, not sure how I got sick), but they had plastic saran wrap barriers and you were not allowed to scoop it yourself. Fast-forward to now - things are back to how they were, where you can scoop your own to go containers. It took up a lot of courage to come back here, but I was lazy and really craved Chinese Food (this place is like across the street from me). I grabbed a container and piled it high with food (enough to last me 2 more lunches from the leftovers) and got my $10.99 worth every penny. Good news - I did not get sick this time! I think I'll come back to satisfy my Chinese food cravings or if I am running short on time for lunch prepping.

Many of them seem to be doing the bare minimum -- not only slow, but also lacking basic customer service skills. I came in on May 27 around 6:30 PM to have shrimp weighed, then asked for beef from the same fresh section. The older woman assisting me completely walked away instead of helping. As she was leaving, she said, "That's a different department, go ask them," even though the beef was literally in the same section as the seafood. When I told her there was no one else working in that area except her, she ignored me and kept walking away. Very rude and unhelpful behavior. Seafood City, please pay closer attention to the employees working in the fresh seafood/meat section. Customer service matters. If employees cannot keep up with the demands of a busy environment, management should address it appropriately. The woman assisting that evening was dismissive, rude, and made the experience very unpleasant.

I finally stopped by to buy yuba (fresh tofu skin) https://www.youtube.com/shorts/ha7zOLIhvjU?si=kHP0vGPjL8Y5VLah. We are lucky to get it here. They also have fresh Chinese vegetables, tofu and work with local restaurants to deliver to shop for pick up. You need to join their line group and order there. Everything is in Chinese but Line can translate notes. If you order $20, you get $1 coupon for frozen bakery items you can toast. I got this small chocolate puff with $3 coupon. It was good.

Looking at their website, you'll notice a few of the available options and their other location in Cupertino. Situated right next to one of the most popular kung fu schools in this area and sharing a spacious parking lot with food and drink options nearby, the Combo Market is ideal for a quick snack or a quick grocery run for a home cooked meal later.

I genuinely liked shopping here, which is what makes this situation so disappointing. During a recent visit, I had an extremely disturbing interaction with security where I was pepper sprayed multiple times, cornered in a bathroom stall, accused of stealing (when I didn't), and even had a KNIFE pointed at me when I was just trying to leave which has ultimately completely changed how I view this place. What should have been a normal shopping trip escalated into something that left me feeling unsafe and honestly shocked by how things were handled. I never expected to walk into a grocery store and leave feeling the way I did. I'm not writing this because of one bad day -- I'm writing it because trust matters. When you've been a regular somewhere and something serious happens, the response and accountability matter just as much as the incident itself. Unfortunately, this experience changed my perception of the store entirely. The company does not want to fire him so be aware when you go that he'll be waiting for you, and nothing will determine when he attacks!
