I love the 99. This location is the closest to my folks' house in Lowell, so we often order take-out from here, or I come here to meet up with friends. There is hardly ever a super long wait (I think they've expanded the seating inside), and it's still serving up some of my favorites, including the potato skins, cheese and crackers, and broiled sirloin tips. I even really enjoy the vegetable sides, the corn and baked potato. Again, definitely one of my favorite places to hit up when I'm back home. Recommend it! read more

I've been a loyal customer of the 99 for over 10 years. I have one problem with them - there is no quality control over food coming out of the kitchen. I always sit with fingers crossed that my order will come out correctly cooked. For example - I love their boneless buffalo wings but they "very often" come out overcooked like shoe leather and the coating is so hard, you could break a tooth, which I did. Veggie sides are often inadequate i.e. 3 pieces of broccoli, other times 6 or 7 ?? Many friends of mine write it off by saying, "yeah but that's the 99". As a former business consultant, that's just unacceptable - it would be such an easy fix to incorporate a quality control piece to the kitchen - then the staff would be more careful and over time, the quality would take care of itself. read more

Sad to say that I'm a frequent 99 rest supporter, however, today was my last. Walked into the restaurant and ask for a table for six, they gave us a booth that we couldn't fit in very well. We asked for a different table, that we saw it was available, they said no. Then the host went to the manager and the manager said no. That's so sad, the manager didn't even come to tell us, we decided to leave. Don't go here, why would you go to a place that has 20 empty tables and won't allow you to choose a table, just because they don't want to? Terrible customer service!! read more

Everything about this restaurant is great. Before you eat, a little bowl of popcorn is given to you, which is pretty good. Their food is delicious, I always get the burgers. They have good desserts too. Another thing I like is they have 99 reasons posted on signs everywhere telling you why the restaurant is great. read more

Came here on Wednesday, February 15th 2017 because the Mrs suggested the place for dinner. I've never really been here before but always drove by it figured why not. We came in and the hostess who was very nice and polite sat us as soon as we walked in. Our server then came over, her name was Shelly. She took our drink order as she gave us a minute to look over the menu and explained their Valentine's Day special too us. We got an appetizer of potato skins and the Mrs got the chicken parm and I got the honey BBQ chicken wrap to be safe. Starting with the appetizer : the potato skins were awesome! Nice and crispy as if they're deep fried with a nice amount of cheese and bacon along with a side of sour cream which was a really good sour cream. It was $8.99 for 7 of them and plated very nicely. The chicken parm: Simply Delicious I wish I got this for dinner I was jealous. A nice big portion of penne pasta and a fist sized piece of chicken smothered in red sauce and cheese with a piece of bread that had a garlic herb butter sauce on it. The red sauce was really good which is important for Italian dishes. Some of the pasta that didn't have sauce on it had a hint of garlic too it which I thought was a nice touch too the pasta. Great portion size for $10 just wish there was 2 pieces of chicken. The honey BBQ chicken wrap: it was decent. Nicely wrapped and cut in half for you to make it more convenient to eat. Lots of lettuce and tomato to BBQ chicken ratio. Fries were okay, not soggy but nor crunchy. Not the best but by far not the worse. My only problem really is when we placed our order Shelly asked if we wanted soup or salad with our meals. My girlfriend said she would have a salad with her meal. Thinking it'd probably be like a dollar or two upcharge but it was actually $5 more for a salad- so if they ask you if you wanna add soup or salad too your meal just beware of that. Not a big deal just a little surprised is all. I would come back again but I think I'll have to try the steak tips or ribs next time. read more

We are "99 addicts" I guess you could say and divide our time between this one and the one in Tewksbury. When we are going to the movies in Lowell, this one is the choice, since it's just down the street! The food is always great, the people are really nice and this one stays open till midnight on the weekends which works for us. Favorite meals, the schrod/haddock, turkey burger, chicken tenders. I travel to this area on business a lot and have eaten at this location a couple times. It's a typical chain and I haven't found anything special about it. Well, they do serve Sam Adams, but who in MA doesn't. There is a Chili's down the street, but I choose the Ninety Nine for variety. Overall, it's not bad food, but standard chain fare. I think some of the restaurants in Boston have spoiled my food palate a little bit because I was not amazed, intrigued or excited by anything in the menu. Nothing stands out or is a MUST TRY which it blows. I went with the cranberry/blue cheese/apples & chicken, that portion of the salad was huge but that salad wasn't that great. I also went with the New Orleans Shrimp and that was alright. I woke up today and have a very bad stomach ache which it always happens when the food I eat isn't as fresh as I'm used to or too much oil has been used. Definitely NOT coming back. Since I live down the street from this Nintey Nine Restaurant location you would think I'm here all the time. On the contrary I am not. This is the second time I've visited in the last year, which is kinda sad because I think the food is pretty good! Like any other chain restaurant call ahead is definitely a thing to do if you're planning to visit during a dinner hour. This night was busy but service was pretty good. The food also was good as well, no mistakes in the orders and everything was hot or warm when it reached the table. And for the first time ever in my restaurant experience, while the waitress came over to check how we were doing she said, "Here's a desert menu for you to look at while you eat." A very smart move on her part, but I didn't fall for it because I knew I wanted ice cream, but kudos to her for trying! Price is usual for chain restaurants, and portions are perfect if you want an empty plate and no doggie bag. Overall, it's a great location and the chain is definitely one of my favorites. Food is great, atmosphere is a little loud when busy, service is excellent!! I definitely recommend this location and will be back for more!!!! read more

If you like Chili's. . . . . .here ya go. . . .the Ninty-Nine. It was food to fill your belly when you're hungry and apparently sodium deficient as well. I drank about four full glasses of water during my meal due to the salt content in the food. We were there around 7pm and they were out of about three items, one of which was a salad. . . a whole salad. We were told all of the dishes are pre-prepared at a different location and shipped to the restaurant, daily. It wasn't the worst meal I've ever had, or the worst place I've eaten. I feel like the 99 is on a decline. This used to be my #1 spot to go for a decent sized tasty meal for little money. The fast few times I have been there have been mediocre to say the least. For a chain, however, it is still one of the better ones. Do not order a mixed drink here, I have never been served a decent drink here. Watered down fruit juice with a splash of alcohol. Every specialty drink from their menu has been just as pathetic. The food used to be served in large portions, piping hot, and tasted like it was freshly made. Lately I have noticed portions have gotten smaller. One entree might be hot and fresh but the other is lukewarm. A favorite of mine is the double BBQ turkey tips. Used to be huge tips, grilled just right and splashed with amazing BBQ. Now they have gotten smaller and it just isn't the same. A lot on their menu is brought in frozen and it shows. I would recommend going for the specials when they have them because those seem to be made fresh. And go early, because this place seems to always be packed from open to close. read more

Used to visit our local 99's just about every Sunday night for dinner. It was always a decent meal for a reasonable price. We were regulars and always greeted by name at the bar and the bartenders knew our beverage of choice, even if we sat in the dining room. Service is always good. Sadly the quality and preparation of the food has gone drastically down hill over the past year. Went tonight for our first indoor dining since March. Sorry to say it was the worst meal I've ever had at this establishment. Ordered the baked scallops, mashed potatoes and broccoli. The scallops weren't cleaned and prepped properly, I got maybe 5 pieces of broccoli (overcooked and mushy) and the mashed potatoes were stone cold (I didn't even bother to eat them). I have been to Chili's, The Outback, IHOP, Denny's, Applebee's, and Bickfords. The Ninety Nine I find has the best French Onion Soup (perfectly made, perfectly salted), the best fajita's, the best variety on the menu, the best free snacks, and the best coleslaw. Their main food is delicious and at a good price. After being to all the restaurants above, I again and again return to the Ninety Nine the most. read more

The best thing about the 99 is that it's one of the few places you can bring young kids--even if they don't eat their less-than-nutritious food (mac 'n cheese, buttered pasta, hot dog & fries). I ordered fried chicken. What I got was essentially a heavily breaded cutlet. Definitely not impressed. And had it not been a for a child's birthday dinner, I wouldn't have gone at all. My husband and I visited this location Friday for an early dinner. We had a babysitter which is rare, so I was extra bummed that the service was so poor. We sat and waited for at least 15 minutes for our waitress to greet us (it was not busy). Now this wouldn't have bothered me much if the greeting we finally did get wasn't so miserable. The waitress looked bothered to have to do her job. We got cheese and crackers and the cheese appeared to already have been used (it came with bits of crackers stuck in it ). When our appetizer came our waitress did not provide any plates but was nowhere to be found. She did not come back to check on us during the meal so we sat with empty soda glasses. She repeatedly blamed the bar but cmon...a glass of wine and draft beer takes 20 minutes?? (She told us the hold up on the drinks was that the bar was changing the Bud keg...um we ordered a coors) I don't believe it, especially when I walked past the bar to use the restrooms and saw our drinks sitting in the service area. Overall this visit was just "blah" Food was good, the people in the kitchen do know what they are doing. It was hot, tasty and out pretty quick for a Friday night, but the server was so below any expectation that I'd rather go to westford or Billerica just to skip this location all together. Disappointing visit. Walked in around 11:15am. Nobody at the front desk to sit me. Went and sat down and no wait staff around. I had to chase a waitress down.
