I have been a hobbyist of various martial arts for years. Since day 1, the environment at Rounders was a perfect fit. The people are friendly and helpful. The hours and the selection of martial arts classes are excellent. Every last coach knows their stuff, and they teach both kids and adults classes with professionalism and care. I am also always grateful that the black belts, pro fighters, and other experienced trainees are so helpful during class. Not only do you have knowledgable coaches, but your peers support you here too. I have seen multiple martial arts gyms over the years, especially in Orange County, and while all have nice things to say about them, Rounders just hits every single mark. It's a nice and spacious facility with a great setup, but the people are what make it stand out. My only complaint is that I wish I had started here sooner.

I was intimidated because I hadn't boxed before, but they are so welcoming and don't judge. Everyone that worked there, from the front desk to the coaches, to regulars, were all so friendly! He's knowledgeable, patient, funny, and somehow manages to challenge everyone while making beginners feel comfortable. He loves to rough play and doesn't always know when to stop, so we wanted something that would help him build more discipline and self-control. Total MMA has been such a great fit for him. Since starting, we've seen a big difference in his restraint, focus, and confidence. He now does kickboxing before his BJJ class, and he absolutely loves it. It definitely challenges him and tires him out, but in the best way. It keeps him active, engaged, and excited to keep learning. It's also been really special because his dad started taking the adult classes too, so now they both do kickboxing and BJJ. It's become something they can enjoy together, which has made the experience even more meaningful for our family. We're so grateful for the positive impact Total MMA has had on my child.

I talked to Allen on the phone and he was nice & answered any questions needed. Sean was my instructor and he has good sense- 20 years of experience and does a balance of punching workouts and abs. There's a new female instructor i think her name is maddie maybe, but she's bright. Music they play is like classic pop/rap with some edm element. If you're not coordinated don't worry as you do things at your own pace. And come in 20 min before to get the basics down. I would get to know jab, cross, hook and uppercut and kick differences before so you are able to follow. You need to bring wraps, gloves and water bottle ( they have a station and 2 nice coed bathrooms). Water breaks are on your own judgement. The studio is quite big with lots of bags, enough to space out and everything is matted. No sparring or rounds, you basically just keep going doing different exercised for the hour. There's mostly regulars here, with varying types of levels. They sell equipment needed for the lesson at the front. Parking wise, the lot is quite chill and there's lots of spaces definitely contrast to the music booming from the studio. Overall, its a solid workout with people who know their stuff. Age range is on the middle age side. If you like hiit styles and not too much management then you'll enjoy this :) if you're interested as a beginner, check out Groupon! It is in a class of its own when it comes to excellence and intensity, which you can feel when you enter the space. On my first day, I was immediately hit with not punches, but the philosophy and etiquette by which they run the place. I had broken a couple of rules unknowingly, and was taught what they were, and why they were in place. They emphasize the value of being a good training partner and why it is important to respect each other. They take this very seriously and do not play about this. So much so that I have seen them fire clients that are not about that life. A couple months into my training, when I started taking actual punches, the lessons made all the more sense- when you are putting your body on the line to train, there has to be a mutual respect. There is a huge focus on the 'why' in everything that they do- why you shouldn't put your gloves on the floor, why it is invite only, why you bring your jab back to your chin every single time it is thrown. I knew on my first day that I would be able to learn high level boxing here. They have just started a kids program too, and it is a wonderful thing to see the young get started in a sport like this so early on. They get pushed but they look very happy and joyful throughout. It's an energy that is totally unique and i would recommend anyone who is interested in their growth and getting stronger to join. They are very intentionally building a high quality community which is rare and is already having a positive influence. Everyone is welcoming, encouraging but also tough on each other when necessary. I had such a great workout here!…read more There were two groups: one on punch bags, the other on weights. Halfway through the class you switch places and get a great core & agility workout in! The instructors are clear & attentive, they really watch the class for newcomers and even do the workout with you while also being hype man for the whole class! Very impressive. The weights portion also has projections of the weight lift reps or the cardio moves in rotation. Very organized. The workout includes glove rentals, locker rooms, clean bathrooms, & towels. I was going to a different studio and wasn't expecting to want to become a member here, but the intro sold me! Courtney and Mitch gave a thorough tour, and her class was so much fun! What really drew me in was the floor area - the class alternates between the bags and strength training so I felt like I was getting a well designed, comprehensive workout. The studio is brand new and super clean, I feel fortunate to be a founding member! In addition to Courtney and Mitch, Brian and Manny are awesome! Manny has been teaching members only clinics (free!) the past two Sundays and I've really enjoyed being challenged and learning from a professional in a small group setting! I also met Julia and Rumble's resident pup, Theo today. Everyone has been so kind, helpful and are truly starting to make it feel like a community. Rumble is located on the Peninsula on Newport Blvd near the pier. There is both street parking (which you have to pay for) and garage parking (which Rumble validates). They sell everything you need - gloves, wraps, workout attire and more. They offer complimentary towels, filtered water and lockers. You can also rent gloves for $3 a session. Booking classes is simple on the app, and you have the opportunity to choose your bag and bench. The studio is still new so classes aren't too full yet, but I feel like it's going to be picking up soon. They still have a ton of free intros going on and a bunch of specials for newcomers.
