Let me tell you, his training changed my whole body! My body has transformed completely from a regular female body with not much strength in the upper body, to one that has muscle definition, energy and strength. Body changes: Belly before: a little pouch, kind of pudgy, but some core strength from yoga Belly after: smaller waist, OBLIQUES showing, lean and very strong core muscles Chest before: just lean, not much strength Chest after: visible nice looking layer of chest muscles that is not too much, still feminine and look strong and healthy like a celebrity Shoulders before: rounded, not very good posture, very normal looking Shoulders after: shoulder look leaner, more angular and look much better in clothes. I even have super defined muscles when I flex and it's crazy amazing! Arms before: slightly fat in the upper arm, probably have some hidden muscles to begin with Arms after: that layer of fat is replaced by strong muscle definition and they look so good and feel stronger Legs before: chubby and not too strong. I am built with more fat in this area Legs after: stronger quads and better looking calves! Unbelievable. It's not making me become someone with hot model legs but I look much better than before! Coach Norm is so kind, so compassionate, and most importantly, his workouts feel like checking in with my buddy. We joke around while he gives me complex moves while carefully observing my form and help me make micro adjustments so my workout is more effective and safe. He's really good at not pushing me to the brink of hating working out and always let me stop a set early if he spots that I am struggling with it, so I don't get injured. With his charisma, caring attitude and expertise in the industry I couldn't recommend him enough!

The workouts are strong, but that's not the differentiator. The community is. You see the same people consistently, and over time it becomes a tight, supportive group. It's rare to find a gym where you actually look forward to who's going to be there, not just what's programmed. Programming is thoughtful and well-balanced -- strength + high-intensity cardio -- and it never gets stale. Chris (owner/instructor) is especially good at reading people and pushing you just past where you think your limit is. You end up doing more than you expected, regularly. There's also real connection beyond the floor. They organize occasional events -- I recently did a cooking class with ~20 women from the gym -- and it adds another layer to the experience. I've always been active, but this is the first time in 20+ years I've been this consistent. That's not accidental -- it's because of the environment. That being said, I came into the gym on Monday morning eager, but still novice & injured (with a sprained wrist). Coach Jason has met me where I'm at while also encouraging me to safely step out of my comfort zone. I appreciate how willing he has been to listen, while also treating me like a "regular." He has coached me as if I'm a part of the gym, and I feel like I'm going home with some new confidence. Additionally, the people I'm working alongside at the gym have been kind, helpful and encouraging, making sure I'm not getting lost on the runs, correcting my form where necessary, and welcoming me into their space. I went to my first class here through classpass. I took Pace & Press. It was a fun class and I…read morereally pushed myself past my comfort zone because I didn't know I could run AT ALL. The first half of the class was an interval training between walking, jogging, and running. And the second half of the class was strength training. I wish there was more guidance from the instructor for the second half but it was just following what was on the screen like 100 step ups, 90 plank shoulder taps, 80 something, 70 something, etc. It was kind of like F45 style but without the timer and stations. Since there wasnt too much guidance on that part, I felt like I pretty much paid for an interval training on the treadmill. I enjoyed the experience though and would be open to trying out a different class to give it a fair review of if I want to continue or not. I'm still giving it a solid 4 stars though because I pay attention to little details. This studio had HAIR TIES and TAMPONS and even face wash in their bathrooms for us girlies and it's not much but so thoughtful!! Also there are earplugs inside the studio room for those who think its too loud!!! I get headaches when its too loud so I felt so seen and understood by the studio. Also at the end of class, a staff walks around passing out COLD WET TOWELS so you can cool down. These are all little extras that really make a studio stand out so kudos to this place!!

I've been with Train With Dave since they started a few years ago when they were sharing space in a…read moresmall private gym in Orange on Tustin Street. My GF at the time and I met personally with Dave for the initial sales meeting and never felt pressured or a hard sell, and because I had lifting experience in the past I could tell Dave and his trainers knew what they were talking about. Gio has been my trainer the entire time and he has been a fantastic instructor, form checker, nutrition planner, and all-around gym buddy. He helped me do a body recomposition and put on muscle while dropping fat and now I have a body that's stronger, less jiggly, more defined, and makes a lot of the girls I meet go "Wow!" If I followed Gio's advice and nutritional plans more strictly I'd likely look even better but I'm a bit too much of a hedonist. The scheduling for work outs is extremely flexible, you'll likely be able to get a trainer with an open spot, and Dave is consistently hiring more trainers. There's a new guy nicknamed Thor here at the Irvine location who really knows his stuff, he's a former Marine who focused more on raw strength lifting so if you're into the powerlifting side he might be the guy for you. All the trainers I've met have been extremely friendly and eager to help you achieve your goals. Jacob sometimes covers me when I have to come in when Gio's not available and he's a like a personal cheerleader with how positive he is when spotting you. Regardless of whether you're a complete newbie to lifting or an experienced lifter who just wants a work out buddy and person to keep you accountable you'll have a great experience at Train With Dave.
