We did our workout and on our way out the person at the front counter asked if we would like to sign up. We said no, when asked why I mentioned the deal not being honored but hearing it being honored to other people. The. I mentioned the overly aggressive exchange with the lady on the treadmill. The front desk person wanted to know who it was immediately but when I described them I was told that she was the owner's girlfriend so there was nothing she could do about it. If you are someone who doesn't look like a body builder, or body exists outside of what society says a body should be I wouldn't come here. However, the manager at this Lake Forest location is absolutely horrible, unprofessional, and arrogant. I moved away and needed a closer gym, so I followed their policy and sent both an email and a physical letter to cancel my membership. Instead of processing it, they ignored it. When the renewal period came around, they hit my account with both the monthly fee AND the annual membership fee! Trying to fix this was a nightmare. I called their hotline and was left sitting on hold for an entire hour. Frustrated, I finally drove down to the gym in person. The front desk girl was actually very nice. She successfully canceled the membership and explicitly told me that the manager does have the power to issue the refund, but he was currently on a call. It turns out the manager was standing right outside the gym making a personal call. Even though he looked right at me and clearly saw me waiting, he made me stand there for 15 minutes while he finished his casual chat. When he finally walked back inside, he flat-out refused to give me a single dime back--even though I haven't stepped foot in the gym since the day I submitted my cancellation request. He didn't even have a valid reason; he just acted like "this is how it is, and nothing is going to happen to me." He was incredibly rude and dismissive. When I asked him how I could escalate the issue to higher management, he sneered and literally said, "I am the highest management and no one is above me!" The sheer arrogance and lack of customer service from this guy is unbelievable. He had the full authority to do the right thing and fix their billing mistake, but chose to power-trip instead. The gym environment was really great, everything looked clean and organized, and there was even mat space for kickboxing with a heavy weight bag. He learned his colors, how to count, how to color, and how to write his letters. Beyond academics, he made close, wonderful friends in the class. The teachers are absolutely amazing, patient, and caring. The seasonal camps have been an absolute blessing. They offer unique, hands-on experiences that my son still talks about. He was able to pet farm animals, touch a snake, and learn all about music and outer space. He even learned how to swim over the summer thanks to their amazing coaches! If you have a toddler and are looking for a way to relax, workout, or just enjoy some self-care time, this is the place to be. The family membership includes up to 3 hours of childcare per day! Couple of the reasons I came is for the swimming pool and the gym. It seems this is what the hotel revolves around; that and the kid care. Entering into the hotel room, it was super clean and very nice. They have a no-smoking policy in the room, which I love because certain hotels don't have that kind of policy and the rooms smells horrible. When I woke up in the morning, I had a view of the pool and spa. It seemed there was a class in the pool and it looked really fun and I didn't know they had classes. Unfortunately, I didn't have any time to see the gym, but I will my next trip to this hotel. Next time I head to this hotel, I'll have more to review but for now, this is all I have to say. The kids club is far better than basic childcare, with a wide range of activities like sports skills, art, Spanish, and wall climbing. The pool area is also great for the whole family, with attentive lifeguards, fun family spaces, a separate adults-only area to relax, and good food and drinks available during the summer. It feels like a place where both parents and kids can genuinely enjoy spending time. A few things keep it from being perfect. It would be reasonable to include Parents Night Out in the already high monthly family membership rather than charging extra per child, especially since other Life Time locations do.
