Great company! I don't know how many years I've been calling A-1 for help, but it's been quite a few. They are responsive, sympathetic and schedule a speedy service call. You'll get a call when they're on their way, they arrive on time and, in most cases, make the repair on the first service call (unless parts need to be ordered). In a recent situation, Fred talked me through bringing my refrigerator back to life via a phone call and cancelled the service call - saving me money as well as a freezer full of food! I called A-1 to repair our oven which had failed. They charged $120 for the house call to look at it. They came out they determined it needed a part (ignitor) for which they charged an additional $259. The next day they installed the part but it did not resolve problem (oven still didn't work). They came back the next day with another part that also did not fix issue. They then determined that the electronics were at fault and that repair would not be possible as the part was no longer available. The next day I called Fred, the owner, to reuest a refund. He refulsed to refund any more than $100 of the $379 I had paid him via Zelle, saying that he could not refund any more than that because the manufacturer (Samsung) would not take the parts back. I find his actions and attitude unethical and totally unacceptable. I have not cashed the check and will be taking it with me to smalll claims court. read more

Contacted them for Miele service on a Refrigerator. Their tecnician had no idea how to repair the fan. Could not remve the housing and told me if it broke its was my responsibility. Charged 279.00 for nothing. sent an estmate for repair of a thousand dollars. Bad attitide and bad customer servive, DO NOT USE. I found Mr. appliance Matt super professial and 25% less to refair. read more

I hate to write this review because I have used this company in the past when a man named Scott (I believe was his name) had came out to my home. However, this weekend my dishwasher stopped getting hot and the drying portion of my cycle was not working either. I have been living in this house since 2005 and this particular dishwasher has been in place for over 5 years. Scott has covid so Fred came out. I would like to add his last name is not "Kaye", that is short for his real last name. He comes in the house and started just talking, acting friendly etc. I am like - ok dude, my dishwasher? I didn't say it, just thought it. Then he went on to tell me about how his daughter was moving down here and asked him to go look at a place and he had to tell her that she couldn't live there because "They are building mosques in that area and Jews and muslims can't live together". I am not Jewish or Muslim but I just stood there with a blank face and he went on to tell me about his house in Boynton that he just bought 4 months ago because while he loved his old house his neighbor was a drunk and he became confrontational and came over to his (Freds) house and pushed him and Fred said he wacked the guy with a 2X3 and broke his knee and to this day he still doesnt walk normal!! Then Fred went on to say about how the drunk neighbor was in real trouble because Fred was over 70 and that was a senior citizen and its a major crime....again, I am just standing there with a blank face. Then he said "So what's wrong with your dishwasher" AFTER ALMOST AN HOUR!!! I explained it was not heating up. He asked if I was running the water in the sink first to get it hot. I told him I was not, he immediately says "thats the reason". I blank stare him again and Fred goes on to tell me that there is "no hot water heater in the dishwasher and they are only designed to heat up 10 degrees higher than the water going in there". I asked why its been working for over 5 years and he continues to tell me there is no heater in there. I get my husband on the phone at this point and Fred starts getting confrontational and arguing with my husband when my husband stated that "Something has changed, the drying cycle isnt even working" to which Fred replied "The drying cycle works off of the hot dishes and your dishes aren't getting hot" Now after an hour and Fred getting loud my husband (who is on speaker). asks for the model # of the dishwasher. Fred said "I am not going to waste my time with you anymore and closes up his box". Thankfully he left on his own. BEWARE! Stay away for this company. My washing machine was flooding. They fix a valve and put the machine put the machine on. They left while the machine was running. I called to say the machine was flooding . They knew the could not fix the flooding but fix a valve for approximately $300.00 . They came back to check flooding again and explain I had to pay extra cash to fix since they had to bypass the drain and was not under warranty. They open the machine and left. He explained had to talk to boss to see if he could do the job. They never came back. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY read more

BEWARE!!!- -DO NOT USE!!!!! A-1 Appliance & Refrigeration-FRED KAYE- has ripped me off for $370.00. I called him to fix my dishwasher, he came down that day. He said it needed a new Mother Board & fuse. Put in the new parts the second day. It only worked once & then it died. He said he had to replace the fuse, & would order it again. Called him to see if part came in. He said it would arrive the next day, & will call when it arrives. He never called!!! This is his trap, waiting for another victim to call, telling them he can come down that same day, & hopefully, rip them off as well!!!! read more

very poor services , paid $375 to get ice machine fixed in my fridge but instead got the runs around , owner or dispatch on the phone is a liar , would not recommend anyone to do service with this company. extremely rude. paid for new ice machine and still not working now I see why they have such a bad poor rating score on yelp. read more

The owner of this business (Fred Kaye) is rude, uncouth and unpleasant. Came to my home to remove an old dishwasher. Said the way it was installed he could not do the job without lifting the counter off and then just marched out. No further elucidation or anything. I found his manner extremely rude and abrupt and am at a loss to understand why he seemed so upset as nothing untoward had occurred between us at this point. When he left he did not replace the pane at the bottom of the dishwasher that he removed properly so it fell right off again. A few days later I realized that he had also turned off the hot water to the sink and left it unattached. Now we have no hot water to the kitchen tap. I asked him to come back and fix it but he has refused to. DO NOT RECOMMEND! Very poor customer service! read more

Charged us the service fee and needed to get a new valve to fix the water in our refrigerator. Finally got the valve and installed and then it did not work. Wanted to charge us for the new valve that did not work and ANOTHER part to "fix" it and we said no. So he took out the valve and reinstalled the old. When I opened the back of the fridge to check on what he had done, I found that he had left the valve unplugged. Plugged it back in and the water on the fridge worked again. Be very careful. This guy is sneaky and he will try to rip you off. read more
