I've always driven by this place and wanted to try it but it felt like whenever I wanted to go, it was closed or I didn't have cash but I knew to be prepared during my lunch break lol. There was a bit of a wait but we did go at a popular time but it was all worth it because the prices were extremely reasonable, the burger was very big, and the fries were yummy! I would definitely go back soon!

I was looking for a place to eat lunch and heard about this place from my wife. I drove over to try A-1 Burger. When I walked up to the counter I was greeted by staff. Staff were nice and polite. I ordered a cheeseburger with bacon and fries. I took a bite of the burger and it was phenomenal. Cooked to perfection, delicious and tastes like an old school burger made at home. FYI there is a little wait for the food because this is a popular place. The fries were seasoned and filling. The meal was filling and the ambiance is customer friendly. The prices are fairly reasonable and the burgers are big/meaty. If you are in the neighborhood this is a great place to get a well seasoned and delicious burger with fries.

Old School "Hood Spot" where all the meals are under $10. The food is tasty and the service is what it is.. average wait is like 17-25 minutes but the parking is bad because it's on Vernon. The ambiance is whatever the weather is that day.

This Burger combo put my ass to sleep. A neighborhood classic for a long time if you know you know...

A1 is a street-side burger stand with a walk-up window for ordering. It's strictly takeaway, with no seating available--and it's cash-only, so come prepared! The wait wasn't too long despite the line, and many people (like me) ate in their cars. Customizing your order is easy--I heard requests for extra salt, mayo on both buns, extra crispy fries, or additional toppings like chili or egg. I opted for the King Burger Special, a solid classic with lettuce, tomato, onion, ketchup, mayo, and mustard. To make it my own, I added bacon, cheese, and egg. Served with hot, crispy fries and an ice-cold Coke, the meal was fresh and nicely priced at under $10. Service was efficient and polite, though minimal, with a thick plexiglass barrier separating customers from workers. After ordering, you wait on the sidewalk for your number to be called. When your order is ready, you can grab extra seasoning from a shaker on the window sill. The burger and fries were neatly packed in a brown paper bag, complete with ketchup. As I walked back to the car, a busker began playing blues on his electric guitar, adding a great vibe to this down-to-earth neighborhood icon.

Ambiance: Walk up window to order, right on the street, and no place to sit. Only to go orders. Food: The burger and fries were pretty good, decent sized patty, affordable (cash only), and the wait wasn't too long even though there was a line. Chili fritos were not good at all, could barely stomach them. Overall, for the price, I can't complain. Parking is not great, I had to park a few blocks away, so be prepared for that.

We stopped in on a Sunday around 11:30, no line and very quick service! Finished eating and left around 12:05 so we must've lucked out with no line. We got two double cheese burgers and the loaded fries. The burger had impressively thin patties with a really nice char on the meat skirt, well seasoned, and perfectly crispy. The buns were quite small and a bit smooshed, but they were soft. It came with some fry sauce and pickles as well, overall a good burger. The fries had a good amount of toppings (cheese onions, fry sauce) and were nice and crispy. Kinda wish the onions were slightly more grilled for some extra flavor! Would probably go for plain next time as the loaded fries and burger together had similar flavors The interior has a few benches for seating and single bar type seating around the perimeter - I could see it filling up if there's a big line of people. Would like to try the chicken sandwich and brussel sprouts next time we stop by!

The Big Mac stays the same. I went to LA to taste, apparently, the best burger in LA at For the Win. I paid $25 for two smash burgers and had high expectations. After all, when you click this joint on Google Maps, a fancy review pops up. Nice! However, when the smash burger entered my cave and caressed my buds, my mind instantly recognized it as a Big Mac. Therefore, my brain could hardly differentiate between a McDonalds burger, and the "best" burger in LA. I haven't eaten at McDonalds in 14 years, but my mind still knew what a gentle and warm face looks like. So overall, it was alright! As the reverend Shane Gillis says "Not Bad". The service was good tho. And the ambiance was a bit weird because the music was off. Haha bye!!!

I'm not going long on this one but I have few things to say. First of all, I had a hard time finding it. No sign on the street. Apple Maps walking mode failed me miserably. It's buried back in a street mall. It's on the ground level. From Broadway, walk in the main entrance of the mall, and it's about halfway in on your left. The sign is subtle, but you'll find it, or just ask someone. That's what I did. It's a small place. A few tables inside and several outside. You'll likely find a place to sit and enjoy your food. I ordered the classic smashed, Amboy style. Very simple burger, and that's how I wanted it. I had it double, because it's just $2 extra. Yes, it's a good burger, but it was really salty. I think it would have been much better with half as much salt. I was super thirsty after I ate it. I had to buy a bottle of water for my ride home. The fries are good and plentiful, and for just $5 that's a great deal! I'm glad I had the burger and wanna' go back and try the non-smashed Slim Thicc burger. I think that one will be money!! The service was great and so was the staff!

The inside is small, so it's basically an outdoor-only seating or take-it-to-go situation. Thankfully a tall brick wall, umbrella-toting picnic tables, and large sails give ample shade to their large lot. There are a few parking spots in the back if you're lucky, otherwise street parking should be easy to find. When enough people showed up to eat, it felt like a backyard kickback. Music was a perfect volume for conversation and their Regular Show-esque bespoke mural gave us a lot to talk about. You put your order in with friendly staff inside, and they call your name on speakers when it's ready. Ice cold water is freely available as well as some select beers, wines, and juices. I happened to be in the area, and even though I'd already eaten, I couldn't pass up the opportunity to finally drop in. Irv's originally opened in 1946 as Queen's Burgers, located right on Route 66 on Santa Monica Boulevard in WeHo, and was deeply ingrained in LA's historic car culture. In 1970, Irv Genis bought the stand and renamed it Irv's Burgers, and it quickly became a legendary late-night spot for rock icons like Bob Dylan and Jim Morrison. By 2000, Sonia Hong took over, famously hand-drawing doodles on the paper plates alongside her signature slogan, "Just for you." After closing in 2013 and again in 2018, Lawrence Longo partnered with Sonia in 2021 to bring the brand back to life. They've since expanded quite a bit, even opening locations in Malibu and Las Vegas. On a staff recommendation, I ordered Irv's Original Roadside Burger Double ($11.25). Honestly, it was just okay. While a certain amount of grease and salt is expected with a burger, this one crossed the line into being a bit too salty and oily. On the bright side, the sesame bun was excellent, and I loved that they kept Sonia's legacy alive by printing her classic doodles on the tray placemats. While I'm glad Irv's was saved from history and is expanding, the food itself felt pretty so-so. The outdoor tables were also a bit dirty during my visit. I still love that classic roadside burger stand aesthetic with the outdoor stools, but unfortunately, I won't be in a rush to head back.
