Overall very good experience. Sam was friendly and easy to work with. The only thing I would change is I wish he had brought more of a variety of samples with him. I could gave asked to go to the store and look at more but I didn't so that is on me. Javier installed my LVP on his own (basically 2 rooms) and was wonderful, very helpful. He worked really hard! "They treated my home like it was their own!" I have put off getting hardwood floor for years knowing I had big issues like 2 cats, an upright piano, very (very) small rooms, banisters, and internet/TV wires under old carpet. I decided to start getting estimates and looked at wood floor options. It was overwhelming and confusing with different "well known" companies who came to my home for quotes telling me what they WOULD & WOULDN'T do. Prices were more than 4x HIGHER THAN expected and they started negotiating with me. I FELT LIKE I WAS BUYING A CAR and it became so overwhelming I almost gave up. Then I had a friend in my neighborhood ask if I had gone to A1 Carpet. I said I had driven by this establishment for almost 30 years thinking it was just carpet. They told me they had a great experience with them and said "go take a look, they do all kinds of floor installations". I stopped by on a Saturday and brought floor samples that I thought would work well. When they saw measurements and how small each of my rooms were they recommended something completely different, A lighter color I never would have dreamed purchasing. They scheduled an appointment the very next day (Sunday) to put their eyes to my home, take their own measurements and provide an estimate. They said "we provide a fair price without all the sales haggling". During the walk-through they Immediately made me feel at ease with certain things I was told by other companies would be impossible or challenging or WORK I WOULD NEED TO DO BEFORE the job started. When they were finished with their quote they asked "what is your budget".... I told them and they revealed the quote to me. They were just a little under my budget and threw in things like brand new baseboards and special requests for stairs (stairs are the hardest part). They MADE THE WHOLE PROCESS SO EASY FOR ME AND REALLY PUT MY MIND AT EASE. They scheduled the job for the following week. The installer they sent was a true master carpenter and had been doing floors for over 20 years. IT SHOWED!!!! He was considerate of all my needs and unusual requests. He was amazing!!!! A true craftsman that took a LOT OF PRIDE IN HIS WORK AND DIDN'T RUSH THINGS.... After the removal of a 30 year old rug he discovered floor issues which required more work than originally planned. I now realize how important it is you get someone who knows it's critical to do maintenance on the old floorboards before installing new flooring. The installer was very clean and every night took at least 30 minutes or more to make my home live-able during such a big job. He was SO CONSIDERATE knowing I was living there with my 2 cats and he made the whole process STRESS FREE! The wood selection that A1 Carpet choose for me is BREATHTAKING... I'm including photos but I can honestly say they do not do the transformation justice. I can't be more grateful for everyone at A1 Carpet. They took such good care of me and my home! I felt I was their only priority. I can't express how very appreciative I am of this business, the owners, and all the excellent craftsmen. It's VERY RARE today to have this type of experience. If you have been struggling like I was to get major flooring work done I can only say YOU HAVE TO GO TO A1..... Sam was extremely helpful in our selection of both carpet (to replace our 1992 carpets--also purchased at A1 Carpets in Carson) and flooring in our kitchen and bathrooms. Both his flooring crew (of two people) and carpet crew (of two people) were courteous and efficient. Flooring, including the removal of old laminate flooring in the kitchen, took four days. Carpet removal and installation was done in one day. They also helped me move a couple of pieces that we a little too heavy for just me to move. This is an UNSATISFACTORY REVIEW & needs some air time. This is a bait and switch business, Sam the owner will promise the world. And when he doesn't show up for all he's promised & you let him know, don't expect a professional response. He is lazy. Let me take you through every step just incase you are thinking about purchasing here. This was also reviewed by a carpet company I hired to fix all of the crappy work ($1k to fix...) 1. The inventory- there is a massive messy inventory. You will see it on the floor, half of the collection in one area, the half might be over in the counter section...they will tell you that premium padding is included (maybe 2. The estimate- He will say "I need to come out to your house to measure" and the game begins. The total after they came out to measure was $500 more. I had some negotiating power because I was paying cash. DO NOT PAY ALL UP FRONT. 3. . Communication: The carpet installers showed up a week before the scheduled time. No call from Sam, no follow up to confirm the dates. CUSTOMER- ask how long he has worked with the installers. It's clear they hire anyone and keep whoever sticks around. They attempted to install my counters with a guy they found and had never seen his work or could confirm he's ever laid down a counter before. Ask if they remove baseboards (they don't)- they guys will crack and break them. 4. Measurements- I purchased a fairly expensive piece of carpet for my hallway- about 800 for a long 23 feet of carpet. They cut the carpet wrong and there is now a seem in the middle of the hallway where there is the most sunlight and mismatched the pattern (see pictures) 5. The job- Batshit. The two guys came in, threw the carpet rolls upstairs and nearly broke windows with the impact from dropping it from shoulder to floor. The carpet is white. It is now white with marks be she the guys keep their shoes on while laying it down. At every lip or threshold the carpet are nails because they didn't use the right boards to pull the carpet at the thresholds. The cuts in the corners of the 4 rooms look like a 5 year old pasted them together and some are not even glued properly. the stair seem is a joke. 5. LAZY SAM- I shared with Sam the obvious flaws in the installation. Already knowing the game he plays, he came out to the house and said "this is a B+ job" pretending the flaws with installation was barely noticeable . He will trow in the "we have been around for 36 years blah blah...and pretended he was concerned then realized the guys cut the carpet wrong. He said he would happily fix this with a charge to me for their mistake for $800+. HOW AM I PAYING for his poor workmanship? Ahhh no. Sam made more promises & never followed through, didnt even call as a follow up LAZY. I'm sure If he responds to this review, he will say he offered to fix it. HE DID NOT OFFER TO FIX IT. He left and I'd say not very committed to his word and his business -- F+ grade. We ended up calling Gus who agreed that job was compromised, and asked if they had any other carpet layers that were seasoned to fix the issue- NOPE, so if we were going to get more of the same and Sam never bother to call back, why would one want another botched job? Cancel it all, we will hire other people.. Sam never fixed obvious flaws in the carpet installation and because he didn't have enough installers, Its a shitty ass INSTALLATION JOB per the other company hired to fix all of the improper installation. SO IF YOU GO WITH SAM, ASK HIM THE QUESTIONS BOUT HOW THEY WILL LAY THE CARPET, HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO FINISH THR PROJECT, ASK OR TELL THEM WHERE YOU WANT THE SEEMS (i never said i was on a budget but they cut every corner, including a corner that has three small sqare carpet pieces sloppily glued together and now peeling up). I have to give one star because I did get my money back. We went there looking for 8ft round rug, and smaller area rug, Gus was very pleasant gave us a quote we put a deposit down and waited, Sam another owner (I'm guessing) called said the remnant we picked was damaged so asked us to come pick another, so I did when I wanted to finalize my order Sam had raised the price not $50.00 but $150.00 more than the quote for 2 rugs made with remnants. We purchased carpet from A1 for the first time in July 1995. The whole experience was excellent. No installation issues. The carpet met & surpassed the 10 year wear & stain warranty - surpassed, probably, because we have no children or house pets. Last year on 10-21-17, we purchased new carpet to replace the carpet in our living room. The carpet was installed on 10-28-17. During installation it was determined by the installer that one section had been measured inaccurately by the salesman and was slightly too short. The installer managed to stretch the carpet enough to secure it to the strip. A couple days later, I found one small area of carpet, at a doorway, where it had been cut too short, not fully secured to the strip. There was a small gap, one I am sure the installer saw when he was putting the threshold strip back down. It took several phone calls & me being put off until my original salesman was available & the original installer was available to get the gap fixed. In addition to those delays, another delay was because the installer went to the wrong address and I had to reschedule. I was furious. It was finally fixed 11/14/17. Now almost a year later, the carpet has a ripple in a different area right by our hallway doorway. It appears it needs to be stretch and reattached to the strip. I called A1 on 10/15/18 and the salesman who answered told me that Robert, who sold me the carpet, was not in until Saturday. He told me to hang up & call back in and leave a voicemail message for Robert. I left a detailed message & flagged it urgent (the 1 year installation warranty is about to end). Saturday has come and gone and I received no call. I question the professionalism and ethics of this company. (I will update my review after I have spoken to the salesman.) read more

My rental Property bedrooms wood laminate floors were water damaged and needed immediate replacement for my tenants. Thanks to Sam he was very understanding of my needs and urgency to to replaced the floors, he also recommended replacing it with new technology vinyl flooring so in the future they would be protected from water damage. 11 years ago we had a great experience. This year we did not. Ordered over $4,000 of what we thought was quality carpet and quality installation. The carpet quality is ok but the installation was not. We have had ongoing issues and never reached a resolution. They blamed the previous installation work but should have never sold us carpet that couldn't work where we were putting it. It still looks unfinished, carpet is fraying, they put the seams in front of the doorways and didn't complete them well so you can see all of the seams throughout the bedrooms. We have put in new carpet multiple times in other homes and this is the worst installation ever. The communication with A1 management has also been difficult. Embarrassing. read more

This was our first time buying carpet and was very leary but we decided to check out A1 because the former owner of our home had bought with them in several rooms. We liked the quality and thought the installation looked good even 5 years later, we just didn't like the color (why anyone would choose a sweet potato color is beyond me!). Adel was wonderful. He helped us pick a high quality carpet, ordered a bigger sample so we could be more sure of the color we selected and installation was done on day promised. Price seemed very fair but honestly we are not the type of customers that visit a bunch of places to find the best deal. We chose to buy here given the track record with the carpets that were already installed. I never write reviews, but I'm making an exception for A1 Carpet Market. Due to a family emergency, a relative needed to move into a spare (previously unfinished) room in my house. My dad and I walked into A1 on the Saturday before July 4 (Tuesday) and explained to Robert the salesman that we were in need of a rush installation job so that the room would be ready ASAP. Robert helped us pick out some beautiful carpet remnants that would suit our dimensions, and was immediately up-front with the (very reasonable) material and installation labor costs. Robert explained that due to the 4 day weekend, it could be tough to find someone to install the carpet before the July 4th holiday, but that he would see what he could arrange and give us a call the next day to let us know if we could expect a Monday or Wednesday installation. We were in and out of the store within about 25 minutes, and left feeling very satisfied with the deal we had arranged. As promised, Robert called the next afternoon and was happy to report that he had managed to find someone to deliver and install the carpet on Monday morning. The installer came out the next day right on time, and had the whole room finished, cleaned, and vacuumed within the 90 minutes that had been estimated. The room looks wonderful, and we are still amazed at how painless the entire experience was. We found everyone at A1 to be exceptionally accommodating and professional, and will remember them the next time we're looking to have any flooring work done. Not respectful and does not stand behind the products they sell. Carpet installed incorrectly. Quite expensive. Carpet started buckling and I am the only person in household with minimal traffic and weigh 105 pounds. Disabled senior and brain tumor survivor with severe osteoporosis, which is why i have to have carpeting, much to my dismay. The carpet started buckling causing a significant safety hazard to me. Not an ounce of compassion from A-1 who installed it incorrectly according to the manufacturer Shaw Carpets. Tried to extract monies from me to fix. Shaw Carpet came in and saved the day and my bones. Extremely aggravating. Adel actually was yelling at me on the phone when i called him and told them they were responsible as the carpeting has a 10 year warranty and they installed it incorrectly. Horrible customer service. I have bought all my previous carpets from here however the installation from my last purchase in Sept 2018 has many problems. The padding must be in pieces by the door because there is a bump like it's overlapping. I have called twice since and spoke to Sam both times (Robert who sold me the carpet has retired). He tried to blame the floor underneath but I told him I have always had carpet in my room and never had problems. Said he would call when his installer was in the area. Yesterday, the installation of approximately 2000 sq ft of new flooring was completed and we are absolutely thrilled with the results. Javier and his crew did a beautiful job. They had to pull carpet, bust up about 600 sq ft of tile including our kitchen, 2 bathrooms and an entry. They also laid flooring on a flight of stairs. The installation crew was clean, professional, polite and very accommodating. The price was fair and Adel, the salesman, answered all our questions in a timely and honest manner.
