Assured Quality Woodcraft. This is not just a company name, but a sincere promise. The quality of your finished flooring project is absolutely assured. As a homeowner, I will not suffer, ever, from "buyer's remorse". Eleven years ago, when I hired a general contractor to tear out a downstairs wall, which required replacing the surrounding floor, my general contractor hired AQW as a sub-contractor to install an engineered hardwood floor. I added a little style by having them install the flooring diagonally, at a 45 degree angle to the walls. The result was stunningly beautiful! Unfortunately, soon after, a hot water supply line leak was detected, under the slab, under my brand new floor. The plumber had failed to properly sweat a copper pipe. The floor needed to be opened up, the newly poured concrete slab jack hammered, and the leak repaired. OH NO!, I thought, my beautiful brand new hardwood floor would surely look damaged afterward. But wait, AQW was on the job! They opened the floor with surgical precision, and once the pipe repair was complete, and the concrete re-poured, AQW installed the new flooring sections with such amazing skill and artistry, no one could ever tell the floor had ever been disturbed! Amazing! This was eleven years ago, and I was still impressed to this day. So, when it unfortunately became necessary to replace the floor again, due to water intrusion damage from outside the house, I knew who I wanted to install my new floor. As I write this review, the flooring project has just been completed. Nearly 900 sqft of hybrid wood/vinyl planks installed, and once again, the floor is stunningly beautiful! Every detail from the property protection plastic sheeting (everything was wrapped and protected from collateral damage from dust), slab preparations, leveling, sealing, padding, planks, baseboards, and transitions, was done to perfection. The crews worked for nearly 11 days, from start to finish. They worked diligently and cleanly, always cleaning up at the end of each workday. A foreman would arrive with the crew and provide direction each day, and then return sometimes several times during the day, to monitor progress, and direct the crew if changes were needed. I have never witnessed this level of care from any contractor, but this is why the QUALITY is ASSURED. If you have need of a flooring project, look no further than AQW in Redondo Beach, CA. AQW responded promptly to my request for an estimate of a repair to my 1950 wood floor now that the heating grates had been removed. A detailed estimate was provided that explained what they would do for a reasonable price. The date for the work was set for 2 days later and workers arrived on time. They used sheet plastic to create a work bubble around the area and no fine dust from the sanding escaped. The strip oak flooring was laced to imitate the existing floor in the living room and the hall. The stain matches exactly - a beautiful repair that you can't tell is there. On today May 23 a technician was back out and corrected a sanding and polyurethane issue more than satisfactorily. It greatly disturbed me that I had to initially rate them a 3. They were highly recommended to me through multiple chains that originated from a vendo I truly admire and respect. I would recommend this vendor as my floors look great. As initially noted in the follow up (after being paid in full) I was not satisfied with the response from them. Overall, I am satisfied with the work and happy I had my floors redone!. I learned a lot as it relates to the lingering dust from the sanding. By the way, the lead technician on my project, Elder is extremely knowledgeable, approachable, and forthright. Good luck! 17 years ago we used Assured Quality Woodcraft to sand and seal the hardwood floors in our 1950's house and were completely happy with the result. So when we decided it was time to refinish the floors we looked them up. They came out, measured the rooms and came up with a very reasonable quote. They arrived when they said they would, taped and covered thresholds, our furnace, and ceiling lamp. Then started sanding the floors in all the rooms, including the closets. The job took a couple days to complete and when they were done the floors looked great! (They'd also vacuumed the walls to get all the wood dust out of rooms.) If you were to ask me for a recommendation, this is the company I would send you to. read more

I had original oak planking in my house with some severely stained areas and was unsure if they could be replaced and still match the rest of the flooring as they were decades old but was reassured that they would try their best to make a seamless transition. We used AQW for our white oak flooring and were very pleased. Initially we had a contractor who wanted to put a raised divider between the tile and hardwood floors. He sent me searching many hardwood flooring companies for the thinnest planks to make the transition even from the tile to the hardwood. When I found AQW, they said there was no need for the raised divider and that they could make a smooth transition. I went with them instead. My entire experience from the front office staff, owner to the installers, was superior. Since the installation, I have called them to get an estimate on repairing one plank when a painter dropped a sander on the wood. They were able to give me a quote over the phone to pass on to my painter. I called today and spoke to Chelsea and she gave me great solutions for tiling my bathroom. We used Assured Quality Woodcraft probably 20 years ago when we first got our carpet replaced with bamboo. Then we used them again when we got the bedroom done. Now, we used them a third time for another bedroom. The bamboo is no longer available but Assured Quality did the best to get something very close, then took the time to blend the floor color together. Very satisfied with Assured Quality Woodcraft's work re-doing stairways improperly installed by another local wood flooring company. Previous stairway install work was uneven, gave slightly underfoot, and was very noisy. After Assured Quality Woodcraft, the stairs are rock solid and make no noise what so ever. We needed repair to a section of water damaged flooring previously installed by Assured Quality Wood Woodcraft. The damage was not installation related but we called them because they were the installers and did outstanding work. Unfortunately the material had gone out of production but after a diligent search two boxes were located in another state. With COVID related transportation delays the job was delayed for arrival of material. Once received installation was scheduled and completed in one day by their flooring experts. The came masked and fully equipped to do the job. When the crew left the room appeared as though nothing had happened. A little about my town house it's a three story with lots of stairs to keep the mother in-laws away lol. In addition they replaced our carpeted stairs with hardwood ones and refinished our 30 year old hardwood floors to match. The work was done on schedule and on budget. It is of excellent quality and we are thrilled with the beautiful color. The team worked hard to match the color sample we chose. They cleaned up after themselves every day and were accommodating when my husband asked them to give him time to paint the spindles and balustrade posts. I recently used Assured Quality to refinish hardwood flooring, and from start to finish it was an AWFUL experience. The guys were sloppy and showed little care for my home. The most glaring thing; I had asked the guys not to use one particular bathroom, showing them a larger nice one they were welcome to use, but they totally ignored my request and continued to use the one I asked not to. Not only was it filthy when they finished, with reddish dust ground into the white grout, but there was some debris in the toilet. When I flushed it, I discovered it was backed up. This bathroom had been working just fine for years until they started using it. A plumber came out to plunge the toilet, but after 30 minutes he had to grab a drain snake. And after 30 minutes of that he had to fully remove the toilet completely and snake directly into the drain. When that was not effective he had to go down to the clean-out valve and open that up. Long story short, the flooring guys had flushed a pair of safety glasses down the toilet!! And had never tried to fix it or even to tell anyone so that it could be fixed!! When I told AQW, they swore up and down that their crew had never ever worn safety glasses. I had seen the crew wearing safety glasses with my own eyes, so I pushed back. And they finally admitted that yes the guys did indeed wear them (after swearing the opposite), but then immediately tried to say that every pair worn was accounted for. So I guess they were saying that the glasses magically appeared flushed down the toilet, at the exact same time they were doing the work on my house, in a bathroom they were using, when I've never owned a pair of safety glasses, and no one else has ever worn safety glasses in my house?? Wow! And the kicker? When the owner came at the end of the project he said (and I quote) "yeah, sometimes we have to stop buying them safety glasses because they keep losing them" !!! Not only are they sloppy, but this company seems to struggle with integrity and cannot simply take accountability for their mistakes. And on top of all of that, they overcharged me for the work! Saying they replaced some damaged flooring, but clearly not being able to show me which boards were replaced, and I had provided the extra materials myself. And after completion, the damaged boards are still there. In addition; they sealed a hair under the top layer of clear coat, so I could see it, but couldn't remove it (ick!). They were also 2 and a half hours late the first day, and the girl in the office told me that the truck broke down, but the workers told me they'd always known they'd be late because they were just picking up supplies. Once they did show up that day, they worked for about an hour and then broke for lunch. Bringing in a microwave and lounging around in my living room for an hour. They piled equipment and personal belongings all over my patio furniture, staining one of my white cushions, damaged my baseboards, etc, etc, etc. read more

Pete, it is common practice before installation to check the new flooring material and the subfloor with a moisture meter first. This would have shown any potential issue with moisture. The problem was that the new flooring was not properly acclimated. NEW WOOD MUST BE CHECKED WITH A MOISTURE METER ALONG WITH EXISTING SUBFLOOR! This was not done. read more
