High priced. Weird vibes when it comes to staff. There's one guy that's pretty aggressive about customers it's actually why I decided to not use them. This would have been my 4th time. I want to choose who I have as my sales person, I don't want a guy that steps on his co-workers and causes issues if a past customer he may have spoke to wants to go with another sales person, no thank you. So, you lost my business for good because of that aggressive sales behavior. read more

A few weeks ago as I started to move in Rudy came by to install the 9 set of blinds I ordered. When he first came to measure he asked me about the door and I said "nah, I'll get a curtain". Curtains are so hard to find these days! I used a shower curtain until I came to my senses and headed back to see Richard to get a blind for the living room door. This shade really finishes the home and the quality is superb! Same as all the others. It's not just the quality of the blinds but the quality service you get from Rudy that made this experience so great. My door was giving him a hard time but Rudy persevered and wouldn't do anything less than a quality, complete, thorough job. We needed two rooms in our home carpeted. One room is over the basement entrance and required expert precision to make it all look good. We had spoken with a few companies and received quotes. The day before it needed to be done my husband walked into Fred's Carpets Plus and spoke with Chris, the manager. Instead of upselling us something we didn't need, he suggested utilizing carpet remnants and showed my husband what was available. He found one that was great for what we needed and was 25% less than what was quoted by other companies. They came out and installed it the very next day! I've been driving by Fred's Carpet for years and now I'm in the middle of remodeling a rental I own so I paid a visit today. When I first walked in there was nobody in there and a couple of minutes later a sales rep named Richard H came out. I told him what I was looking for and he took me in the back to where all the "sales" were. I didn't see anything I was interested in and he directed me to an area where there were laminate flooring. He just kind of stood there and let me look and wasn't very helpful. I asked him if he carries a certain brand and he said no because it's a horrible brand. Then I asked him if he carries another brand and he said the same thing. I was so put off by that because I know there are alot of brands and not every flooring company can carry everything. I would have appreciated if he would have kept his opinion to himself and should have just said "no we don't carry that brand" instead of bashing what other flooring companies in the neighborhood carry. I felt that was very unprofessional and I was turned off by those responses. But, thought I'd give another chance and picked a flooring and asked him what his first available appointment to come out for measurements next week any time 11:30 on. He said he can come 1:30-2:30. So I thought he meant any time during that hour. No. He meant sometime in that hour frame he will show. I told him I didn't want to wait there for a whole hour before he arrived with workers working on the house and if he could give me a more specific time. He said no because he has other customers he has to see. So let me understand, I'm the customer and you want me to wait for you? Why do I, a customer have to wait when I'm willing to pay thousands to potentially do business with you? In my opinion I felt he was arrogant and not helpful. Unfortunately I will not be doing business with you. Learn not to bash other manufacturers just because you don't carry them. It's not professional Richard. read more

I've always had great service from Fred's. My salesman Richard has always been very responsive and even met me at a rental house I own on his day off so we could get the new LVP installed ASAP and get rid of the old carpeting. They are almost finished and when I dropped by the home this morning, it's looks great. They installed all new 5 inch baseboards. They have worked at multiple rentals that I own and the job has always been superior and fast. Some people complain because they won't sell or install cheaper inferior products, which I appreciate. Low end LVP has a tendency to lift up at the seams or it can be damaged easily from water even though it's waterproof. Their products might be somewhat higher in price but quality and proper installation is more important to me. Their installers are great and fast. I have a very nice custom home and I trust Fred's installers to do my own residence because I know it will be done right. read more

BEWARE!!! Really bad experience dealing with this Company. Made an appointment to meet with Richard after discussing initial needs for some carpeting. When we visited the showroom he immediately showed us the lower cost options they had in stock, due to the timeline we requested as well as price target we had. I was disappointed with the selection and he got pretty offended by that and proceeded to treat me with a lot of disrespect. I let it go and tried to attempt to keep working with him, chalking it up to someone having a bad day. We asked about other options and I found him very unhelpful, I eventually suggested just finding what I am looking for by generally looking around and then see what other options were like that. We eventually found something we liked, was much more expensive, but I was fine with that. During all of this interaction I continued to be very tuned off by his attitude, everything we said was met with trashing other companies, etc. I just kept trying to give him the benefit of the doubt and forged on. We got to a quote and it was just a total, no breakdown no info. So I asked for a breakdown and this really ticked him off, why I don't know, why wouldn't I want to have transparency on pricing? He kept saying the carpet we chose was on special so I wanted to see what that pricing was. He refused to break it out. Huge red flag. But I thought, maybe I can get over it. Left the store and asked for the quote to be emailed to me. After thinking over the interaction and having some valid questions like "what is the warranty on the carpet" "what is your satisfaction policy on installation" and "may I please have a breakdown of the quote" on. $4,000 purchase I feel not unreasonable questions. He refused to answer in writing and asked to discuss over the phone. Major red flag. I actually couldn't get on the phone at the time so again asked to have him answer in writing. He then comes back again refusing to put anything in writing and says we should go somewhere else. Easy decision. I would be careful with this business. Certainly not a business who isn't hiding something or behaving so sketchy. read more

I have had my flooring in my Master Bathroom, Family Bathroom, and Guest Bathroom remodeled by Fred's for about a month now as i wanted to give them an honest review. Jamie came out to measure and start working on a quote for me after he got all the details i wanted down. The quote was received in about 2 days and way under what many others were quoting for the task. I am out of Oxnard and they didnt have a single gripe about my distance and the distance charges were not ridiculous either. We decided that in all the bathrooms we were to replace all of the old molding with something a little nicer. We also decided that in the master bath we would do a 45 degree angle install as it costs a little more due to more materials. The team Fred's sent out were very fast and efficient. i was quoted for 2 days to do the 3 bathrooms as a buffer but they were able to finish all 3 bathrooms in a single work day. They were also very honest with me as the previous houses owner had a incorrectly installed toilet and they even worked to help fix that issue aswell. Very above and beyond their line of work. Armando was the lead for this install and he could not have been better. It has been a month since the install and the floors still look brand new. It gives credit to the quality of the material used and the professionalism of the installers. i really look forward to working with them again. Last week I had 2 bedrooms re-carpeted with Fred's carpet and in my review went into great detail on the AMAZING job they did. Here I am again. This time it was the kitchen with the 30 yr. old linoleum. The wonderful manager, Chris, gave me the bid for all the rooms on my first visit to his store. 5 days later as usual, the flooring team, Roberto and Ricardo, were right on time. With the 6 samples Chris allowed me to take home, the Heirloom oak was a perfect match. From start to finish, the team was perfect and meticulous in every aspect of the job, which included moving stove and full refrigerator out of the way to lay down the planking. When the job was completed, (I stayed in my office the whole time), I walked to the kitchen and started to laugh. I have never seen such a beautiful transformation on a room in my life. A true OMG moment. The border piece of oak separating the kitchen and dining room alone is a work of art. On Chris's suggestion the linoleum coving was removed and replaced with gorgeous white baseboard to match the stove and fridge perfectly. Fred's team does all the work so when they are done, cleaning up and removing old material, it appears no one was there and you have a brand new room. Now for the finale. the price was a bargain for the quality of work AND never was there an upcharge or "hidden fees". The price Chris quotes you is what you'll pay AFTER the job is complete. I did my research and Fred's is the only flooring company I will recommend to anyone. As a matter of fact, a police officer friend of mine saw the 2 visits of Chris's crew at my house and told me he needed some new flooring done. I showed him the before pictures and then told him to come over. Yep, he'll be contacting Fres's carpet in the very near future. He owes me now for saving him the wasted time of doing research. My final job? After a small remodel in the bathroom, Fred's will pay me another visit to match the bathroom and the kitchen floor. read more

Was told that I would get the estimate in my email. 2 days later, called and the lady said she discussed it with the owners and the installers and they are going to 'pass' on this job. She felt the removal of the old floor would be too much expense. I asked how much is the cost of the job? She didn't know... I asked how it would be too much if she doesn't know the cost, she didn't answer... If you want to waste your time with a company that won't tell you the cost and will decide whether they want to take on your job or not without any reason, then this is the one to call! read more

My dad ordered a carpet from them and we went to pick it up today the process was pretty quick my dad placed the order two weeks ago gave them the measurements of what he needed and picked out the style and color. When we came to pick it up it was all rolled up and ready to load on my truck. The staff is pretty nice here and helpful. They been around for long time so they are pretty reputable. This place is located on the corner of Arlington Ave and Torrance Bl. parking in the back from the Arlington street side that's where you pick up as well they'll load it in your vehicle. Need Carpet, Vinyl, Hardwood, Laminate, Composite, and installation? We have a town home with a galley kitchen with an old battered vinyl floor that the builder installed and it was ripe for a change. Since we needed something cheap to cover the old flooring, we went with.... Vinyl again! The selection that Rhonda showed us was pretty large vs Home Depot or Lowes, and in addition the prices were just a tad hire. In addition Rhonda was able to give us an immediate quote, and for less than $500 to redo the floor, I was like I am in. Here is where things went South. So I said I would send the exact dimensions. So I made a little diagram and tried to e-mail to Rhonda's email address on her card, and it returned a mailer daemon error. Luckily I was able to e-fax it. My fax cover sheet indicated that I would be coming to pay for the flooring. So Rhonda called me that morning but I figured that since I was going there in a couple of hours anyway, I won't call her back. So when I showed up with my checkbook in hand she threw me major attitude for not calling back! I felt like walking out. Then the new quote was $90 more, but she said it would be better to go with a wider sheet so there would be no seams. We set an install date and asked if we could get an early install, which she assured would be no problem. The day before the install, I got a call from Fred's just remind me that the installer would be there between 10 AM and 2 PM and I was like what? I explained to the lady that we requested a 730AM install, and that Rhonda notated that on the schedule, then the lady on the phone threw major attitude like it was my fault, then she finally admitted that the salesperson did not notate the time. Basically they screwed up and did not fess up. Luckily the installer arrived before 8AM and was done in hours and did a great job. I am content with the final job and the selection in the storeroom, but the employees need to be a little more professional, especially if you are giving them hundreds of dollars. read more

Very happy with both the salesman Frank and the installation crew. Frank was very patient with all our questions and I think their prices are really reasonable. I went to another store in Gardena to compare and they were very short with me. I think he could sense I was comparison shopping and he didn't want to compete with Fred's. He even criticized Fred's carpet quality. The installation crew was extremely talented and worked diligently. They were really personable and friendly which I was very surprised by. We were so happy we went with Fred's. Our carpet is soft and beautiful. We very happy with how Frank guided us to get the better padding. Note: They do not bring shop vacs so if you are remodeling and there is a lot of debris and dust, you should vacuum the floor first. Fred's crew does bring brooms and a dust pan but it's really hard to pick up all the dust with a broom. read more

We recently purchased carpet from Fred's Carpet Plus in Torrance, and also had them install it. Shortly after the installation we noticed there were several spots where the seams were sticking up further than we thought was normal. I contacted our salesperson and she set up an appointment for the installers to come back and look at the seams because, she said, when seams stick up they will become dirty quickly because your feet will constantly be hitting them since they stick up, and will become more noticeable. The same installers that installed the carpet returned to our house and spent 5 minutes looking at the seams, said there is nothing they could do and left. I again contacted the salesperson and set up an appointment for her to come look at the seams. She did come to our house, looked at the seams and said there is nothing they can do, just walk on them and they will get better. The carpet was installed in September, of 2019, and I've been walking on the seams every day, and they're not getting better, they're just becoming more noticeable. I have lived in homes with carpet my entire life, my family all have carpet in their homes, and my friends have carpet in their homes, and I've never seen seams like the ones in our home. For the record the carpet we purchased was very expensive, we spent a lot of money, and expected better service than this. I do not recommend Fred's Carpet Plus to anyone. read more

I came to Fred's with a challenging job. I had recently had vinyl plank flooring installed by another company in our condo. Long story short, we decided we needed to install 1/2" cork underlayment below the planks to reduce the noise for the people living below us. So this meant the just-installed flooring had to be disassembled, the cork glued down onto the concrete floor, then the floor reinstalled. They went room-by-room and knocked this out in less than 3 full days. Chris at the showroom was very helpful. I regret not going there first because I'm confident Chris would have steered us in the right direction and recommended the underlayment to be installed the first time. The installers, Armando and Ignacio were on time every day. They were extremely courteous and helpful. True professionals! It was a pain-in-the-rear job and they were excellent to work with. Also did a nice job cleaning up and putting the furniture back. The other company I used to install the flooring in the first place wanted to charge me WAYYY more to do this job. They gave me the "we really don't want to do it" rate. I get it, it was a difficult job. Fred's, on the other hand, gladly did it. And now they have a customer for life. read more

Due to bathroom flood, we have to re-carpet our master bedroom, and have decided to use the opportunity to re-carpet our entire upstairs. We stopped by, met with Chris, who was very helpful, we picked out a carpet we both liked (not easy!) and scheduled him to come out and measure the next week (Friday). 2 hours before the scheduled time, he called to say he was out of town (on an 'emergency') (I'm guessing he had NO IDEA he was going out of town earlier?) and would 'try' to come by on Monday, but said he would call later in the weekend. We never heard from him - two weeks later. I want to mention that we had already shopped around, and were ready to go with this purchase, AND were also considering wood floors for our entire downstairs, so this would have been a very nice sale for Chris, and Fred's Carpet. They'll charge you a re-stocking fee of 20% when they only have to go to Cypress. I guess their ensuring they still get their profit. Very disappointed. First he searched all around the warehouse to find me the perfect remnant and then he cut the piece into the perfect size for my job. We redid the carpet in two bedrooms, plus did industrial carpet in my husband's office and a really neat vinyl that looks very much like wood in my office. We got 3 bids from local companies. Fred's was the most competitive bid. Additionally, Fred's was willing to accommodate our need to stagger the installations due to painting and moving furniture around. One of the vendors told us they would raise the price if they couldn't do everything at once. They also ordered samples for us and waited patiently for us to make a decision. Frank was the salesman at Fred's who helped us. We encountered an issue with the manufacturer of one carpet that was put in. Frank worked to resolve the issue to our satisfaction. He was also very prompt in returning calls as well as communicating with us about our orders. The install guys were prompt, polite, and fast. They carry more brands than are listed on their website, incidentally. We're extremely happy with the job Fred's did for us and would not hesitate to order through them again. read more

I was in search for a T transition for our flooring, which was installed roughly 2 years ago by Fred's Carpet Plus, before we bought the condo. The floor has been discontinued since then and it was challenging to find the right profile. I gave Rhonda a call and she was super helpful. She totally remembered the floor and carpet in our unit. I explained my problem and asked for a similar piece. She went the extra mile and offered to check the left over pieces in the workshop. Went to freds carpet after a co-worker recommended it. It was a drive for me to get to Torrance from Orange county. We were replacing carpets on the stairs and the whole second floor. We were able to find the wood that closely matched what we had downstairs. Frank the sales man came the following week and measured the house. The installers Alfredo and his assistant did a wonderful job installing. Two thumbs up to them. If I want to be picky, they could have installed crown moulding on the stairs. I will recommend Freds carpet to any of my friends. read more
