Worst customer service tonight. On 2-16-18 I went in about 5 after 8. The sign outside says they close at 8:30. So I walk in and glance at a menu. The woman working there rudely tells me they are closing so she can't get me anything except maybe a quick pizza. I apologized and said I thought the sign said 8:30, even more rudely she explained they were closing for the next three weeks. I ordered the pizza and received not only evil looks but a barrage of banging, and cleaning around where I sat to wait. Honestly, if she had just been a bit nicer about it I would not have minded. This is the one and only pizza place in town. I've ordered here tons of times and spent a lot of money. I will never, ever go back there after being treated like that. I would rather never eat pizza again. read more

A1 pizza offers some of the best Greek style pizza. The crust is nice and crisp even without a nice char on the bottom crust. My personal fave is the spinach and ricotta. It has a great sweet and savory flavor on top of their buttery crisp crust. The red sauce for the pies is great and a little on the sweet side. During the summer months be sure to put your order in early or after the rush or else it will easily be 40 - 90 mins for your pizza. read more

A-1 Pizza.... I live in Little Compton and have eaten there numerous times, but never again!!!! Beware!! My wife ordered a cheese burger to go and when she opened it up to check the toppings, there was a small pile of dirt and a dead fly on her lettuce...yuck!. Obviously the lettuce had not been washed. She returned the burger and they refunded her money, but no apology and the owner didn't even bother to talk to her, but instead stayed in the back part of the kitchen. Seemed like he didn't care or that it was a routine occurrence. Please note that when we first moved to the area over 10 years ago we would frequent A-1 and we thought the food was good...not exceptional, but it worked and it's the only pizza place in town. Then prices went up and quality went down, over the years we keep giving them the "benefit of doubt", despite the quirks like no take out menus but this latest incident is just too much to let go...we won't be back. The response of the owner and staff really makes me wonder about their standards. Poor service, dirty food, high prices and an owner that does seem to care....guess you can get away with that when you're the only game in town. read more

UH-MAZING and I live in NY. The pizza is always delicious and spot on, my favorite is the Tina Special. The crust isn't like anything in NY, fluffy with a crisp bottom is just the way every pizza should be. The steak grinders are another one of my favorites, the super steak with the mushrooms onions and peppers is something else, and my little trick is to ask them to add gouda cheese on top of whatever other cheese they already use, TRY IT you won't regret it. The fries are another favorite, crispy and delicious! The Buffalo sauce is amazing to put on the side of any dish u have for a dipping sauce. Also the house made Greek dressing is bomb of their amazing grilled chicken salads. Can you tell I go here enough? My go-to spot for my summers on the LC shore! Keep it up! read more

We've been here a few times and the pizza is great. The gentleman who owns the place is wonderful, and when he is there the customer service is fantastic! Unfortunately, the same cannot be said when the ladies are working behind the counter. They came across as short and at times slightly rude. However, despite the inconsistent customer service the pizza is very good. Nothing like what we can get where we are from. Just two interesting things I've never experienced at a pizza place except at A-1. First, they won't give you any pizza boxes unless you order take out. I've never experienced that before. So instead you get a tiny little box to cram any leftover pizza into. I'm not sure what thats about, but its definitely odd....and pay attention to the box as it can come apart in your car.... Second, I have yet to see a sign for a restroom for patrons. I may have just missed it, or I may not be there. Just two things to think about. Still like the pizza, but will consider other places too or just ordering take out. read more

For where it is and what it is, a good four star pizza place. Where it is - in Little Compton and my bet is that its the only pizza place within 10 miles of our summer house. What it is - a hole-in-the-wall pizza joint with 6 or so booths making decent New England-style (baked in a shallow pan) pizza and grinders (sub sandwiches). I had the BBQ pizza, thick, doughy, slightly oily crust (rather than dry). Pretty good. I went back and had a chicken cutlet grinder the next day, also good. They had a display-case of some great looking deserts. read more

This place is a Little Compton institution - it's been here the 32 years my family has been in LC. The pizza is a total winner w/ a nice crisp crust. The salads are amazingly fresh & good. My friend got a grilled chicken salad that rivaled any higher end restaurant. I personally love their grinders, especially the meatball. Had a real hunger for some good calzones yesterday while out in the cold rain in Tiverton, and A-1 came up in google. The place suffers from a name from the old phonebook-first era, so I expected a crappy smalltown pizza shop that would do the trick. Ordered 2 calzones, and our first thought was that they were the nicest LOOKING calzones we'd ever seen. Got started, and took our time with them. Best calzone I'd ever had, simple as that. Great ingredients put together well. Be careful with those cold ingredients though... thick calzones need time to warm up the middles! Thanks ladies! Please start accepting credit cards. read more

The best pizza in the world - bar none - seriously. I've gotten to have pizza all over the world, and nothing else comes close. I'm an herbivore, and this is one of the few pizzas I've ever had where you don't need or miss the cheese at all. Vegans, rejoice in ordering a spinach, sun-dried tomato and eggplant (paper thin and very lightly breaded) pizza. The crust and the sauce are sublime and impeccable. read more

I've been going to A1 pizza for many many years, and they have never charged for silverware. Ever. And also, they always have had public restrooms. The food is amazing. The pizza is very tasty, sauce and dough! The subs are out of this world! And very clean. A1 IS THE SPOT! read more

a few years ago i would have given this place 5 stars but lately i'm concerned....on a scale of 1-10, 1 being not at all concerned and 10 being the most concerned i've ever been about anything ever, i'm a 3. does anyone know if they're under new management? the pizza was unremarkable, the subs are now soggy (i.e. the contents falls out the bottom), and i find myself peering more closely at the chicken cutlets when i get a chicken parm sub cause they look weird and vein-y sometimes. it would really be a shame if it starts going downhill, its always been so good. plus i think its literally the only pizza place for many miles in any direction. read more

If I could rate this zero, I would. If you like it when the OWNER talks shit about you and your order, come here. I ordered a couple of subs over the phone, then went to get them. As I was standing at the counter, the owner was wrapping my subs. She said to her employee,"Who the fuck orders peppers on this type of sub." She then looked up at me and asked if the subs were mine. I said yes. She then proceeded to tell me what a hassle it was to make them with "all the extra toppings." Then she told her employee to charge me $2.00 extra per sub because of the hassle. Really?! For a few pieces of pepper?! I was so mad when I left! This is the owner saying this!! If I wasn't ordering food for someone else and myself, I would have left everything on the counter and walked out. I got home to find that the subs were made the way A1 wanted to make them. So I payed extra and dealt with there pompous bullshit for no reason. I will never again give my money to such a terrible person, for such a stingy product. If you do decide to go to A1, just pay attention to what is going on,and what is being said. They don't appreciate your business. I'll guarantee it. read more

The food was really good. I only got a cheese pizza, but I would definitely try this establishment again. BUT the last time we called them they were closed, and then THIS time there was no delivery service. No biggie. We went to pick it up, and walking up I was charmed at the cuteness of the outside. They told us on the phone it would take 25 minutes. I thought that was a little long for pick up, but whatever, because we had to go get smokes and beer around the corner anyways. So all in all, it took us 10-15 minutes before we got there to get to the pizza place. Now, I left my phone at the house, so to be fair I don't know how long I stood there, but I know for a fact that it was at least 20 minutes before we got our pizza at that point. Also, to be fair, the place was packed. I would have given this place four stars for the food alone, but the wait and lack of delivery knocked off a star. Also, the inside of the establishment is charming too, Although I would have PERSONALLY gotten rid of the chotchkes on the windows. I didn't try the deserts, but they looked good having a bakery display right where you stand for the take out that takes a half an hour or more to get. I think maybe they looked good because I was that STARVING!!! read more

Totally right about the personnel...the girls are not friendly at all! I never liked their pizza which stunk because they ARE the only place in town to get pizza, but they must have changed their recipe because for the last couple of months it has been excellent. It use to be really weird tasting, but it is dramatically better. Worth giving another try if you haven't eaten there recently. Just called in an order....the girl was monotone at best! read more
