I left a negative review prior but this place is simply the best. The only downside is the drive out there but it's worth it

I am unsure why this place gets such negative feedback…read more I have been here many times to dump trash after a party, old fence pieces, bamboo, and other things and never had an issue. The cashiers are polite -- as for driving up and dumping your trash, just wait to get instructions from the workers at the different posts and you will be okay. The best time to dump your trash is later in the day after all the city garbage trucks go home.

I was pretty sure I couldn't put it in the trash and I was right- you absolutely cannot do that. Turns out you can take up to 15 gallons of household hazardous waste to this waste station for free every month- how cool is that! To further enhance this experience, they are open on Saturday. Heck ya! We spent the first half of the morning, doing some minimal garage, cleanup, loaded up my car and drove out there . It was really easy to follow the signs and drive into the hazardous household waste area. I would say I was there for about two minutes total. As soon as I drove up, three people came up to unloaded the back of my car the third came to my window and document in my drivers license. All three were incredibly kind! The man even shook my husband's hand when he said thank you - so refreshing to see nice people out in public. We were only able to leave them with 15 cans, but they gave us a brochure that details three other locations we could take it to that also allow us to dispose of 15 cans per month free of charge. Pretty amazing deal.

That there had to be a label on the bottle, which I had never heard before. When asked why this was an issue, they said call the boss and gave a number. As we pulled up antelope road at watt ave you can see the recycling center across the street. Quick left at the lights and quick right into the location. We dont even have the ignition off and a fellow smiling brings up 6 barrels and has them lined up next to us as we hop on out of the truck. A few more fellows proceed to help us get the bags out, and start separating our recyclables. My son starts getting nervous, hey what are they doing? Helping us.. (i hope) Oooh ok. They continue to talk with us, chatting up my son how he is a big helper, and he can come back in the summer and help. He gets all excited, woohoo! Dad were gonna be rich with all these bottles we have. I chuckel a bit, not yet son, many bottles we would have to collect to get there. But we have a start! =) So we finish up and all the helpers vanish back to their truck waiting for there load to fill up and bring it were it needs to go. The man who holds are riches weighs them up and hands over the goods. We were the only ones here at the time, but they kept all of our stuff with us, they weighed in front of us and everything was good! For a tiny pop up recycling place, with lot of helpers who are pleasant, helpful and cool. I give this place 5 bottles up! It might be dingy, dirty, thats the world of recycling, but it has smiling people who helped and went out of there way for someone who didn't need it or ask and that was awesome. I haven't been to a place that has done that from start to finish.

The staff is very supportive, although they appeared to be short staffed today. Apparently, others have discovered this special location as it was very busy today and people were lined up but we were in and out in 15-20 minutes. NOTE: Although, the signs say no crushed, if you are able to get the bar code available to be read, you should be ok. We just twist the item to semi-uncrushed so bar code can be read. Whatever you do at home, do not remove the wrapper with the bar code. Also note that more items are now recyclable. While we do recycle glass, we find glass to be not worth recycling due to weight and price per pound but we continue to do be recycling partners for California, even if it's glass.
