He was friendly, welcoming, and let me know he had availability, so I was able to come in for an oil change right away. This was my first visit, and Victor made the whole experience easy and comfortable. He had me pull into the shop, lifted my 2015 Honda Accord, and actually walked me through parts of the car while explaining what he was seeing. After over 10 years of oil changes, this was the first time I've had a mechanic take the time to educate me like that. Victor was honest, knowledgeable, transparent, and easy to talk to. It felt more like chatting with a friend than just getting my car serviced. I really appreciate being able to see the work being done and guaranteed ethical business. Victor is a classic scammer got some a catalytic converter's installed about a year ago for around $900. A few weeks ago my car started having trouble took it to my mechanic down the street at Chino Auto Care after they evaluated it they determined it was an exhaust issue so we took it back to Victor to see what the problem was. Long story short he said one of the 2 cats went bad within a year. He charged us another $400 to get it fix which I paid just for the problem not to be fixed and now there was a loud hissing we took it back to my mechanic where he then noticed Victors shoty work. He broke off mounting studs and overall did crappy and a sloppy job. I took it to another muffler shop where they informed us Victor installed the cheapest possible cats that only last about 6 months to a year. When we first got them installed he conveniently lets this information out. I usually don't review businesses but I was shocked by my service today and thought I would share my experience. The first time I went in was on 10/04/2021. On that day, I couldn't open the door of the shop even though the open sign was in the window, so I called the cell phone on the window and Victor answered and said he was with a costumer and asked me to wait twenty times. No problem. When he got there, he arrived with his employee with soft drinks and remnants of lunch. I ended up telling him that my brother gave me the suv I brought in because of the financial hardship my wife and I have been through recently. I told him the car has sat in my driveway for four to five months. He then proceeded to do the smog test on it and said the oxygen sensor didn't pass because I haven't been driving the car. It surprised me he tested it knowing this was a likely outcome. I clearly told I haven't been driving the car for four to five months and I was struggling financially to boot. In such a situation, I would've liked him to tell me maybe not to test my car right away and drive it more first. Anyway, I wrote this off, always trying to find the best in people. After my car failed, Victor charged me 49.95 for the smog check and said to drive my car twenty minutes straight at fifty miles an hour on Euclid (and try not to stop if I could because it shuts off my car's computer) and then come back and he'd take care of me. I pried more into the logistics of resetting my car computer and he admitted that the more I drove the car the more likely it would pass. I went to see my mechanic right away: Mike at Norm & Mikes Auto Service. I told Mike what Victor said about driving 50 miles an hour for twenty minutes and he recommended I drive the car for 80 miles and to not worry about the speed. Mike also said to come back after that and he'd check to see if my oxygen sensor worked for free before I took it back to Victor. After driving for a week, I took my car in this morning to Mike and the oxygen sensor passed this time. Right after, I called Victor and it turns out he was at lunch again and that he'd be back in 45 minutes. I waited. No big deal. When he got there, he asked me if I got vaccinated or not. I said yes. Then he asked in a condescending tone, why I was wearing a mask then? I told him that my wife and I almost died of covid in March 2020 and we both got Pfizer over six months ago and the protection wanes after that long, so I told I didn't want to get covid again so I was being cautious. He then proceeded to tell me how the whole covid situation was a government thing and a doctor in his family said the vaccines don't even work. I know people have their own beliefs about such things so I didn't take this personally. Then unsolicited, he went on to say that a Chinese family came in during quarantine and after he finished working on their car the dad sprayed disinfectant on everything in his car, wheel, seats, etc. Victor seemed quite upset by this and told the dad he wasn't going to give him covid and that if anyone should be spraying anything Victor should spray this Chinese family because the Chinese brought covid to this country. I was extremely shocked by this but unfortunately not surprised with some of the hate rhetoric being spread around. My car ended up passing this time and Victor wanted me to pay him 30 dollars. I was surprised by this because I assumed Victor would do my smog check for free considering what he told him me last time. I brought up what I said and what he said and in a rude voice, he repeated again and again that he never said it was going to be free. Fair enough. I accept that I misinterpreted him. After I paid, I asked him for a physical copy of my smog inspection and he was rude to me yet again. Still, I was polite back, trying to explain to him that I had to send a bunch of paper work into the DMV with my pink slip and they hand-wrote a note to me, saying they wanted all my paper back, including my smog check. He told me my smog check was sent to the DMV electronically. I acknowledged that I understood that smog places do this but I asked him to please look at what they DMV sent me so he could help me understand what specifically they were asking. From what they wrote, it sure seemed like they wanted the smog check paper, too. He glanced at it and said go to the DMV and work it out myself. I told him that I preferred to send everything by mail and he just kinda stop talking to me. I never got confirmation that if a physical copy was even possible. I'm sure he was offended by me assuming my second check would be free. I brought up what I thought he meant. I wasn't rude about it. For me, paying him was never the issue. But his attitude in general and my experience at his shop definitely is. Hence why I writing this. I went in initially because of a yelp review that said he was nice. I want others to be aware that not everyone's experience at this shop is positive. read more

I went twice with an appointment in a span of 2 weeks and the guy gave me the run around about he didn't have no gas to do the smog check and than the second time he told me he had to calibrate the machine. He wasted my precious time so I went to U.S. Smogcheck on pipeline and as soon as I pulled up with no appointment they took my keys no questions asked and performed the smog check and I was out in 30 minutes. It's hard to imagine how people like this are still in business. So don't bring your car here if want to save yourself the headache. read more

I took my 1995 Toyota Avalon to Victor. I mentioned it failed twice. Another Smog Check station told me it was the Catalytic Converter. Victor looked at the paper indicating it failed. Right away, he told it was not catalytic converter. I am so glad that he is honest Christian person. He drained the oil and changed the 6 spark plugs and replaced the EGR and the smog check passed.
