Came by for a smog check after seeing a coupon online and wanted to support a local business. When I first arrived, I was told to come back in an hour when the owner was here and that it was cash only, which was fine since I didn't have an appointment. I returned at the time I was given, but was then told to come back the next day instead by the man whom I'm assuming is the owner. This was frustrating since I had already made the trip twice based on their instructions. I just felt very uncomfortable with the way he came out his office and it felt like I was a bother to him. I called them on Monday, September 22, and the man on the phone said I could come in this Saturday at 11am for a smog check and oil change. Then, when I arrived, the man in the shop said that the technician won't arrive until 12 or 1pm. I was confused because why would he say to come in at 11, only to not be there? Avoid this place like the plague!!! I printed a coupon from their website 5 minutes before I went there to get a smog only to be told that coupon was old and now $10 more. That should have been my first clue. Then I'm told that the connection to smog my truck did not work and probably needed a new fuse and said it would be $5. I said no problem. When he gives me the invoice to pay, it was $55. $50 labor to replace a fuse!!!!!!!!!! He did not say anything about "labor" when I ask about it he says that I can't expect him to do it for free. " don't get mad bro, I need to make money, there is a cost for me to open your hood" Complete and total scam artist, do not go there!! These guys are scammers. My mother took her car in to get a smog check. She had a check engine light on her dash. The honest thing would've been to decline service and tell her that she needs to fix the light issue before the smog, however they decided to just do the smog anyway and then at the end tell her it failed because of the check engine light and charged her for it. As an Elite Yelper, it is my duty to post an update on my experience for this business, as they were also aware i was an Elite yelper from previous reviews. Quick Summary: DO NOT take your vehicle here for body repair or paint or insurance claims. Unless you wish to wait 30+ days when 2 weeks were quoted, even when they had the paint in hand a few days after drooping off your car. This shop is NOT AAA certified. even though, Gina claims they are. I have been here before for smog only and had a pleasant experience, however we chose this place for an insurance claim due to PAINT damage not body or dents. First day we dropped off the car, they quoted about 2 weeks to have it ready, we were ok with that as our insurance could cover up to 30 days of car rental. a week passes by, i call to see if there is an update, as soon as Gina answers, she says let me call you back. I say ok thanks! Never got a call back. I call a few days later, same thing, as soon as she answers, "Can i call you back" i said sure, thanks, nope, no call back, 2 weeks go by since dropping off the car, i call on a Monday, Hi Gina! Wanted to see if there was an update on the car, i never got a call back, "Yeah we got the pain last week, but let me call you back" Ok Gina, thanks... Never got a call, this happen a total of 5 times in a row within 3 weeks. 3rd week, i say, that's enough, calls don't seem to work, ill go visit the shop and get an update. I get there, Shak's (The owner's son) helps me out, really nice kid, he tried his best to help me, took us about 20 minutes to find my car, they didn't know where it was, and finally found it, asked em if i could get a few things out from the vehicle, still the car untouched and dirty since we dropped it off. Gina wasn't there, and nobody could give me an update. 4th week get's there. I get a call, they say car is ready, come pick it up! I get there, check out the car and found a few dings and errors from them painting the car. There is a spot near the left corner light, that was covered in tape, they painted over it, clear coated it, and then removed the tape which left an unpainted spot with lines of the tape. (See picture). The front has other little spots that weren't painted and as per Gina she said "We will paint the ENTIRE HOOD and TRUNK". That wasn't the case. Gina calls the person that painted the car, he comes and starts arguing with me that the insurance didnt agree to paint the whole hood, or trunk, just a few spots etc. Long story short, there was bad communication between them and towards me. At this point, 30 days have passed, then i get a call a few days later, to bring back the car, that the owner is there and wants to see the mistakes they made, so they can fix it, because he is only there once a week. I said well, ill be there in 2 hours. I take the rest of the day off of work, drive 30 miles to my wives work to pick up her car, then drive another 30 back to the shop. Shak, the owner, sees the car, says he is going to fix the mistake they did when painting it, then they will also fix a small dent that was there before, i said sure. Now the problem here is, i have no more days for the rental car, so he says "Just figure it out, im gonna need the car for a few days" Welp, i really wanted them to fix the mistake they did so i left the car, had to call my brother, to take his lunch early to pick me up from Rancho to chino, to take me home. In the end i get the car 35 days later, with a bunch of unpainted paint nicks, that as per Gina were going to get painted, and they did fix the trunk dent that they said they would do, and fixed the paint error they did. Overall the experience was 2/5, i would give it a 1 star, but i had a good experience when i took my car to smog a few months ago. read more

Single-handedly the WORST mechanic in Chino and probably California as a whole. On Christmas morning I found my truck window had fallen down and wouldn't roll back up. The next day, I took it to Shack A Tech to get it fixed. He called me two days later with a 600$ quote for an "oem" switch, regulator, and motor. That should have been my sign to run for the hills, but I had a lot going on and just wanted it fixed. The parts that came in the truck lasted nearly 20 years. However, I was commuting this morning and noticed SMOKE coming out of where the switch had been replaced. The electronics to my entire door no longer work: Windows, mirror adjustments, door-close sensors, LOCKS, everything. I'm beyond upset. When I say DO NOT take your vehicle here, DO NOT TAKE YOUR VEHICLE HERE. Sontech Auto Technology and Moya Auto are within a 5-10 minute drive of this scam of a mechanic and will serve you MUCH better, with a better price and a level of transparency Shack A Tech could only dream of. read more

We visited this business last Saturday 3/02 for a basic SMOG Test on my daughter's 17 Civic. She forgot to bring the DMV letter stating she was required to go get her car smog tested to receive her 2024 registration tags. I forgot the name of the Gentleman who help her, or I would have included his name She obviously passed...He was very helpful and courteous throughout the process. My car was due for a smog check for registration renewal. As a retired person on a fixed income, I try to do my due diligence to find a reliable, highly rated, but low cost smog check station. I reviewed all of the local Smog Station's in the area and found several at $40. I selected Shak a Tech because of their advertisement claiming " the lowest in Chino" with a coupon discounting the cost to $29 plus $8.25 for the certificate. I phoned them to verify that they would honor the coupon. They replied that they would honor the coupon, but that it is cash only to get the discount. So I went there late this afternoon. When I arrived, they were not busy and there was only one person in the garage...not much work was being done. I asked to have the smog check and showed him my coupon. He said that the coupon was no longer valid, even though I just printed it from the website. He said that a new one was coming out. The new one had a price of $34 plus a certificate charge for a total $43. Then he said there would be an additional charge of $10 since the car was a Prius. (I've never heard of an up charge for smogging a Prius... I've had this car smogged several times before. This is definitely a bogus charge, a blatant rip-off). When asked if I wanted the work done, I decided that since I've already traveled 30 minutes to get there, it would not be worth it to go somewhere else just to save $10. To add insult to injury, this mechanic took several phone calls, spoke to a young visitor (looking for a job?), and sat in his office for extended periods, all after starting the smog check process. By the time I walked out, it was 45 minutes later, waiting in 93 degree weather. This should have been a 5-10 minute job. Never again!!! My advice to anyone considering doing business with this shop -- Don't do it. Do not spend your hard earned money here. They are NOT "the lowest priced smog station in Chino." They engage in obvious bait and switch tactics. They are dishonest. I would not trust them with any expensive auto repair work or maintenance work. Worst of all, this mechanic did not respect the customer's time. Look for any one of several nearby shops that will do the smog check for $40. read more

He tightened and replaced missing screws, replaced newly installed breaks/turned rotors that kept sounding from the other garage. Removed and replaced hoses. He said if I want to get Fxxkd, to go see him and he will take care of me. This man cannot manage his emotions and is harassing me now. Dishonest coupon advertisement and adding fees. Will add on fees and claim your vehicle is "luxury" even when it's not (and even when it was NEVER considered "luxury" years prior at this same location). The owner claimed, "well things are inflating we have to make money". I communicated that maybe he should update the coupon to accurately reflect its limitations otherwise this could appear dishonest to consumers. The owner then yelled at me, "I'm not going to argue about $10, I don't want your business!" Then hung up on me. I called back in case the phone had just been disconnected. He yelled at me again and hung up on me. This was all because I said "it could appear to be dishonest and maybe you should update the coupon". False advertising is not legal. ***Be careful!! The owner is extremely emotional and unable to regulate his emotions. He is unhinged. I would not feel safe sending my daughter alone to this location. (This wasn't a discussion about one car, we have 7 that we have brought there for smog checks always pay full price. Only one vehicle was eligible for the coupon. It was a smack in the face that their coupon never changed but their rules changed. The owner saying this was about $10 clearly doesn't understand the bigger picture here. The owner gave me a quote and time of competition guarantee before he started working on it. 7 hours later my car was not fixed and the completion time had elapsed 2 hours prior. To my surprise, work that they said they did and we paid a few thousand dollars for turned out to be false. Unfortunately we found out the hard truth when the parts needed to be replaced two years later. I took the car to the dealer and they confirmed that my original parts were on the vehicle. When presenting this to the owner, he berated my wife and refused to acknowledge that they are crooks and took my money but did not perform the work. No appointment needed! Quick service! I went there to get my car checked for the smog test. It was really easy to locate, google maps took me right to the place. Its located on the corner of a busy street in business area and there is limited amount of parking in the lot. Gentleman that checked me in was very helpful, explained the process and gave me an estimate before they started the work. I came prepared with a book to read expecting it to wait but I was surprised that it was done within 20 minutes. There is not waiting area inside or outside of the location for customers. I would love to give this place 0 stars. My Boyfriend went to this automotive repair shop based on the good reviews that was left. Gina the shop owner in the beginning was nice to him and helpful. My boyfriend spent a lot of money on parts and brought them to the shop to get his truck serviced. Once his truck was finished, he began to experience engine issues, which he didn't have previously, this was something that happened in less than 24 hrs of receiving his truck from the initial repairs. He took his truck back to the shop, and every time my boyfriend would call for an update they either would not answer his calls, or he would receive a text response, but only after multiple attempts to find out what was going on with his truck. Recently Gina has him blocked and he has not received any updates about his truck, or what happened to it. It's really ridiculous how they screwed his truck up. It's still sitting at the repair shop with no answers, since 4/28/23 and still no answers. Also all money was paid to them, and they messed his truck up and they don't know how to fix it. read more

Shak-A-Tech Automotive came highly recommend from coworkers. I needed an engine and transmission rebuild for my 2005 Chevy Tahoe. Mr. Hamza (owner) was very straight forward on the depth of work necessary and gave a two-week turn around time, which I didn't think would happen. Shak-A-Tech pulled it off without a hitch and came through. The Tahoe runs great and I was given a very reasonable price. I also bought a used car from the owner for my son while I was there. There were a few minor hiccups with the car, which the owner took care of right away. Mr. Hamza is a superb individual and very honest. I would recommend this shop for any and all repairs. I'm driving 20 miles to have them service my vehicles and it is always worth the drive... There is always coffee, tea and a beautiful fish tank to lose yourself in while you wait. If you are looking for that "one" shop that is reliable, honest and friendly then you must give this place a shot at fixing your car or doing the simple oil change. They advertise a coupon for Smog Check that they won't honor. I called ahead spoke with Shak and gave make/model of vehicle and is was not communicated that there is a $10 additional fee for an SUV. On their website it also doesn't state that there is a $10 extra fee for SUV, only trucks. I brought my SUV in and I was told that the coupon is no longer valid although there isn't an expiration date on it and I printed it today and that it is + $10.00 for an SUV. I walked out as I didn't want someone that was shady touching my vehicle. Stay away from this place! read more
