I realize this was lost revenue for Lamar's Appliance Repair, but I appreciate their honesty diagnosing the problem and being truthful that we were better off getting a new fridge instead of repairing it. Replacing the broken piece would have cost nearly as much as a new refrigerator, but that was also money they would not earn from us. I really appreciate that they looked up any possible warranty angle on the compressor as well. Like I said above, if you need an appliance service / repaired, give Lamar's Appliance Repair a try!

Further they were barely any help at all to try to source new parts (did most of the legwork myself). Instead they stuck a heavy wrench tool between hinge where the door meets the oven body and applied body weight pressure against the door -- which they said has worked for other customers it did absolutely nothing at all to fix our issue except to make everything worse. Then they spent the next 15 minutes telling me to consider a new $3000+ unit.

Peter came after a long workday at 5 p.m., said our compressor had failed, advised us that a new compressor would last better than our last one had, and noted that the rest of the fridge was in excellent shape. So we agreed on a new compressor, and Peter installed it the following Monday. His price was very reasonable. In the future, I will always call Peter for appliance problems. Larry is Appliance Repair Specialists, it's a one-man shop. He charged me $109 to diagnose our washing machine's clicking/grinding noise at startup, saying it was the water pump and quoting $500 to replace it. He was evasive when I asked for a parts/labor breakdown. That was a red flag, so I said I had to think about it. A little research showed pumps cost $20-$120 (OEM) and take 10-20 minutes to swap (it took me 30 with a $40 part), but the noise persisted--proving his diagnosis wrong. I called another company and explained the issue and their tech diagnosed it over the phone as a stuck soap dispenser, and guided me through a free 2-minute clean (removing dried soap from the armature), fixing it entirely. I'm out $109 for Larry + $40 for an unnecessary pump, plus some time. But I avoided an additional $500. In my opinion, Larry knew it wasn't the pump and was looking to make a quick $500 off an unsuspecting homeowner. The only other option is that he totally misdiagnosed the problem. Either way, isn't good. My guess is I'm not the first he's done this to. I would avoid this company (Larry) at all costs. PS, my email was tied to a former address in Corona, CA. But I now live in Provo, Utah--where Larry does his business.
