A lot of chairs are made of metal, they're cute- but they get uncomfortable pretty quickly. I had such high hopes for this place, but was majorly disappointed when I got there and the internet was the worst I've ever experienced at a coffee shop! Best things about this place: - plenty of parking: they have a decent sized parking lot for this area of town, so a great place to meet up with people - Open and spacious: I just love how open the whole layout is. It's bright and there are plenty of tables. It's just really open and airy and I really enjoy that it doesn't make you feel cramped like some places do. It's also really modern and clean looking. I really enjoy the simple lines and minimalistic look. -Coffee was awesome! My favorite was the Duke of York. It tastes like chocolate milk. OMG I would go back just to try this drink again and see if the other drinks are just as heavenly! Things for improvement: -internet, or lack thereof. In this day and age, it's almost impossible to go to a coffee shop to study and not have access to free wifi. This place had wifi, but it was so spotty and weak that it couldn't load anything! If you can't load your assignment, don't bank on finishing it on time. On the bright side, if you're reading or doing something that doesn't require internet, this might be the place for you, because you won't be able to load facebook to distract you :P I know they're working on fixing their internet, but hopefully they get it up and running soon. I really would like to go here again and have this added to my list of go to study places because there's so much potential for me to fall in love with this. I came here to get a good read in and this place was perfect! It's quiet enough to be able to concentrate on your work and the space is ample. The only thing I would point out is that there aren't too many outlets available but there are still a few here and there. I ordered an iced matcha latte and it was delicious! They don't use straws which is a great plus and what they stand for in their message is great too-- ending human trafficking right in Houston. There is a lot of seating, with some almost always available. A couple times during a busy weekend, I have been unable to find a seat or had to sit at a common table. Great cause and concept. I always get my coffee to go though. I don't like the seating/sofas for reasons I won't say. Parking is iffy.

The location is pretty easy to spot from the street. I want to say there are red lettering on the building which makes it easy to spot. There is a parking lot which you can use (there are some spots that are reserved for other entities, so just make sure you don't park in those.) The inside is pretty spacious. The menu/counter is straight ahead when you walk in and the baristas are really friendly and helpful (shoutout to Kyle). Lots of tables and couches for patrons. There are approximately 6 tables that seat 2-3 people and 2 that seat about 4. There is a long table that seats about 20 people (not sure if there are that many plugs close to that table though). There are some plugs next to some of the couches and some of the tables by the walls. In the center of the room, there is a long extension cord which provides some plug access for those small tables. A long table by the window has plugs under the table, so that's a nice place to sit as well. The establishment has a variety of coffee/non-coffee drinks. They also have some food items which you can check out. I had their Never Miss a Monday sandwhich, and I was a fan (enough to have it for breakfast and lunch). The bottomless coffee was a bit acidic, but i guess that's just how some coffee are; you can decide if you like that or not. The bathroom was pretty clean, no complaints here. It was kinda cold in there though, random. The rest of the shop was fine, not too cold/not too hot. Bonus: May not want to sit near the big windows during the first half of the day as the sun just comes in and can really get in your eyes/get on your screens. read more

I usually never run into a problem coming here. The staff is always super nice. I love the coffee and the place has great space and is perfect for studying but there is this one employee who has continuously been snarky and definitely needs an attitude check. She has glasses and usually wears a snapback and has her hair in a braid. If you ask her about what's in the items on the menu she gets annoyed and rolls her eyes when it's part of her job to explain it. I can provide a photo but I'm not gonna be petty today. They are non-profit company that works to bring awareness to human trafficking through education, action, fund raising, and assistance to survivors one cup of coffee at a time! I have been coming to this shop for many years, and I never plan to stop informing people of this local coffee shop. Upon walking in you see a very welcoming environment with ample seating, walls with information about local organizations that are supporters of the shops overall cause, local artist items for sale. I love the candles for sale, they smell so amazing! After I order my coffee, I love to head over to the ample sitting to begin studying for class or meet up with friends/family. When my family meets us there, we love to play games with my nieces and enjoy talks when siblings. On the weekends a few times a month in the parking lot they even have a pop-up shop with other vendors around the area! There is also a program The 2nd Cup shop works with called Brazen Table. This organization is a holistic culinary training program that provides tangible skills and experience to survivors of human trafficking. It gives the survivors the resume writing, knife, food chain understanding, meal planning, and interpersonal skills. While I may seem to be going on and on about all the amazing things this shop offers, I do want to mention the coffee is so flavorful! All the beans are locally and ethically sourced. I am a HUGE fan of the Chai Fritz! It is a warm frothing topped cinnamon coffee with espresso shots mixed in. It taste like Christmas with a pick me up, which is top tier. The pastries are baked fresh every morning, my favorite is the chocolate croissant. It is warm and melty when it is delivered to you. I could eat one of these every day! Something else to mention amazing about this company is the person who founded the company. She started out as a 7th grade science teacher who learned about how vibrant and alive the human traffic world is in not only our country, but our city. After many volunteer hours, she decided it was time to open the best coffee shop around! The shop has partnered with local roasters and hand-crafted our own fair-trade syrups, which can be felt with every sip. She started out small and worked many pop-up art shops then slowly worked their way to a store front. Her passion and innovation to create a haven for victims and a company to support them is so inspiring. The latte was good. Uncommon combination of flavors but worked well together. The muffin, however, was not good. It lacked in the nutty department and made up for it with chunks of soggy banana hiding in it. Service and atmosphere, pretty good. Barista was pleasant but not real talkative. This place is neatly tucked in the Heights and really does have great coffee. The barista was very helpful with my indecisiveness by answering my questions and making great suggestions. I finally decided to try their toffee mocha latte. I don't like my coffee to taste too sweet so they went light on the syrup and it was great! This is probably the most spacious coffeehouse around. It looks like part of a warehouse sectioned off. So very high ceilings and plenty of seats abound. Parking is also generous too, which is such a relief. Their walls are lined with posters and signs stating their cause and they have an event calendar up and another bulletin with many other non-profit organizations. Very cool in spreading awareness and support for whatever interests people have. Now for the food and drinks. I had the caramel toffee coffee. It's very weak with a lot of cream. And the toffee is only a distant hint. I also had the morning glory smoothie. It's ok but overall pretty bland with too much ice and on the sour side. The have two menus: one with hot foods made to order and another to go menu with items waiting in the fridge. I got the quinoa salad and it was small but really good. There's small crumbs of feta laced throughout to give it a good amount of saltiness. Then you get a mouthful of crunch from all the pumpkin seeds and then a soft meaty bite with the boiled eggs. And it was surprisingly filling and made a complete lunch. The vibe here is a whole lot less hipster than in other shops. Maybe only one of the workers is hipster and came off kind of sarcastic but it's all good. Everyone there is friendly and open to conversation, no snobbery. We're in a new age of coffee shops, folks. Overall the vibe feels less isolated, less superior, and more upbeat. Thumbs up on all those counts. So the food/drinks there is only ok, but I truly love their mission, so I very happily support it regardless. The environment is great and a chill place to just hang out. Highly recommend. read more
