Really love this spot! So nice for breakfast. The staff is very friendly! Cortado was excellent. Breakfast sandwich was perfection, the bun was so soft and the egg and bacon were nice and savory. Really want to come back to try the breads!

What's with this weird, dense, pla-doh pie crust? Is this accidental or, is this the standard? Asking for a friend.

Love Jane and the Lion! They're a well known bakery in the area whose brick and mortar spot has been going on for over a year now. You can't go wrong with any of their pastries. They are very fresh with no fake crap in it so they don't last long but they are so good you won't let it stick around too long at home! I love their daily plate- it is very filling with eggs, delicious sourdough, fresh preserves, nice cheese, pickled things, and bacon. Their coffee drinks are also good. Their coffee syrups are made in house and aren't as sweet and fake tasting as other places. They also have local produce and Houston made goods in the front. The vibes are very homey inside, you wouldn't know you are in a strip mall off of N Main. The employees are nice and helpful! It's my favorite place for a solo breakfast to read.

THIS RESTAURANT IS A DEFINITE MUST TRY!!! This little gem is so adorable and the food is just EXQUISITE! The quality of the food is just so on point! The food is fresh and local. The variety and creativeness of the pastires was just mind boggling! I wish I could try everything! I cannot give this place enough credit. I'll be visiting as soon as I can. My friend and I visited on a Monday and so the restaurant was very quiet. I see that it can get quite busy on the weekends and I know why! I had the mushroom toast. I'm vegetarian but do not eat eggs and Th cashier was very open to offering me options. Menu items all had options with eggs and Th mushroom toast was ineif the dew items that could be adjusted to have this eggs removed and I so appropriate ciate that they did that for me because it was DELISH!!! I also had a pear muffin and that was to DIE FOR!!! OMG! Love everything about this place!

Rawr. Accidental find on TGTG but so very glad I did. The staff is so friendly and the vibe in the cafe is fun! I heard they do farmers markets too. Everything was so delicious. The breakfast biscuits were flaky and delicious. Everything was really good. Not overly done. And they reheated well in either an air fryer or oven. But let's talk about the salted honey pie. I can't even begin to explain how surprised I was by how much I loved it. It didn't sound very good but the taste is amazing. I was licking the container lol. Def plan on going back esp since it's so close.

Thai place really did great with carrying the rustic fee through out their bakery. It's a bit of a mix of ol'timey country store with modern casual hipster brunch. The service was a mix of good and bad. The bad was that they completely forgot our order and the front of house claimed my husband ordered a cortado and I know for a fact he did not because he has NEVER ordered a cortado. She insisted several times and almost acted like we were trying to get free food. She made us wait 6 extra minutes for her to find the order receipt she lost and when you have a toddler with you, time is of the essence. The good is that the man working the in the back (maybe making the coffee?) was a pleasure and should give the woman taking orders a lesson or 3 in customer service. Now the baked goods were phenomenal. The quiche honestly didn't look too appetizing as it has a piece of pale bacon on top that looks like flesh but it was so well done. It was insanely intricate. The layers were layering. I think it even had mustard and carmalized onions in the base layer. The cheese was well integrated and overall I was impressed. I got a the bread pudding and wanted to take a picture but I blinked and it was gone. I don't even remember what happened - just straight devoured. Also got the chicken poblano empanada. It made me feel like I was having a lovely medieval lunch. Something about it just felt hearty. It was thick and sometimes a thick empanada isn't want you want but I'm going to call this a European take on one. A empanada to feed two and fuel you to plow some fields. Oh and the vanilla latte was smooth, creamy and not too sweet. It is rare to go to a bakery that has both great pastries and coffee. I would have made this one of my staple bakeries if it wasn't for the front of house service.

I've been seeing my friends post about Jane and the Lion on Instagram for so long, and I'm so glad I finally got to stop by and try it out for myself! We came on a Friday morning around 7:30AM and were able to order without having to wait. The staff were all super helpful answering any questions I had about the menu, and the interior decorating was super cute. Loved the vibe! Especially the lion pirate in the bathroom. I ended up ordering one of their famous seasonal toasts -- Friday's was perfectly toasted and topped with peaches, tomatoes, torn basil, a creamy cheese that I can't remember (probably some type of ricotta or burrata), and pine nuts. Super filling and yet really light and refreshing! The bread itself was also super hearty. Loved the freshly squeezed juice as well. My friends are regulars here so we were well taken care of and had a great time enjoying our breakfasts. Definitely would love to stop by again the next time I'm in the city!

What a fabulous gem to stumble upon today! Handcrafted, thoughtful and creative- from the food to the ambiance, I am a fan! Every corner of the space was curated with an artistic vibe. Every bite was soulful. I think this place with will be a Houston staple for many years to come!

Loved the indoor vibes and atmosphere. I was there on a Saturday 5 mins before the doors opened, and quickly a few others started to show up. As I stepped in, the queue built up! I had a latte, avocado toast with a sunny side up (eggs are made with duck fat - yum!). Grabbed a few goodies to-go; I really enjoyed the duffin and bacon fat choc chip cookie. Blackberry and blueberry pie was delicious too.

I live 30 minutes away from the Heights yet I find myself making the drive twice a month. There pastries are BEYOND EXCELLENT. My favorites are the savory hand pies- I've had the pumpkin chorizo and the beef. My only complaint was that the chorizo one was lacking in filling, however the beef one I had was full of beef and veggies and the pastry crust at this place is simply perfect. Thick and buttery!!! There biscuits and hidden gem muffin are also must haves!!

I have been here twice and food NEVER disappoints! Everything is fantastic here, I don't think you can go wrong! My favorite bakery in Houston hands down

Went to Jane and the Lion on Friday around brunch time. Parking really kinda sucks.. although people are in and out.. it can get congested and a little annoying to find a spot. Luckily, someone was leaving and we got to snag parking. When we walked up.. there was a line that moved a little slow. It was hot.. so we were kind of melting until we got inside. Inside is small... but very cute. Definitely a local spot.. and we love supporting local, good food! We ordered the biscuit with egg (10/10!!!, so freaking good), the pretzel bread kolache (10/10!! verrrrry good, wish the sausage was spicy though), and a jalapeno pastry (mid) and a cookie's and cream cookie (my husbands fav!!) Definitely check it out. I thought pricing was reasonable. Service was good. We were with friends and they somehow forgot two orders... but otherwise, we love the little place!

We saw Jane and the Lion on social media and decided to visit, as we also live near the area. However, we were extremely disappointed. There were two flies in the display case flying around, which you can see in the video when you zoom in near the Hidden Gem muffins. After serving us our pie, we waited for 20 minutes for our drink. The workers were just conversing with one another, and when we came to inquire about our drinks, they told us they had forgot about them. I would have understood if they were busy, but there were only two other groups sitting during that time. The strawberry rhubarb pie was tart but not particularly outstanding. They gave us metal forks, but there was no bin or anywhere to dispose them. I was disappointed with the hygiene (flies in display case) and the service, and I believe they a lot of room for improvement.

For my visit, it was crowded but not to where you couldn't hear your table. Dress is casual, good for friends, solo, or pit stop. Service: 5/5 Our waitress was very knowledgeable and friendly. Since it was our first visit there, she gave us some background that it was a Pappa's owned restaurant and food is made from scratch. Food: 3/5 They offer mimosas and I was tempted to order, but was driving and it was 9AM so forewent that option. There are food options for every tastebud. Mark ordered the fried cheese sticks, they were one of the items that I found worthwhile to return for. I opted for the Waffle feast. It included a waffle, that I added pecans on top to, two strips of bacon, eggs your way and hash browns. To say that I needed to add salt and pepper to the eggs and hash browns because they tasted bland and flavorless was unfortunate. It also was served at room temperature, because it was made from scratch, would think it be warmer to hot. The waffle was savory and had good mix and topped with the pecans made it even better. If you're on this side of town and want a change up from the "other breakfast diners" DOT would be where I stop. Fast, friendly service. Depending the food you get, it gets the job done for some sustenance to hold you over when you're not sure when your next meal is because you'll be in Galveston for 7 hours riding a float in the Mardi Gras parade.

I wanted to start with one biscuit, but the biscuits come in pairs. The waitress said I could order just one anyway, but the order ended up being two. I meant to save the second one for breakfast, but that was not to be. It did not survive long enough to make it out the door. My actual meal was a bacon swiss and mushroom burger, which was excellent. Between the biscuits and the burger, I am forced to acknowledge that it was entirely too much food. Sadly, that did not prevent me from eating all of it anyway. Delicious! The restaurant, which is a diner with very basic decor, is on an approach road to IAH, and is open 24/7. When I arrived in the evening, the place was empty. By the time I left, there were a whole bunch of customers. I noticed in other reviews that people were saying they did not receive checks for their meal and felt they were over-charged at the register.
