The lock on y front door broke such that I couldn't even open the door. I called A-A in the morning and they had a guy at my place at a convenient time in just a few hours. The guy they sent, Sam, was great. He assessed the situation, gave me my options and was very clear about the pricing of each option. These guys came to my rescue a few years ago. Unfortunately I got someone from their "B" team. I hate to admit this, but one morning I walked out of my house to get something (without my phone), closed my door, and realized with a sinking feeling that I had just locked myself out. Yikes! I did not realize my door lock was in the locked position when I closed the door. D'oh! So I walked to one of the neighborhood stores that happen to be open at 8am and they called A-A Lock and Alarm for me. That was very nice. The guy showed up pretty quickly. Yeh! In order to get me back in my house he drilled through the lock in the door handle. I am now able to get back in my house, yeh! So I go to a local store that specializes in door hardware to get a replacement lock. The guy seems to be very knowledgable and is able to suggest an exact replacement for what I have. He also tells me two things: 1) The locksmith should not have had to drill the lock out in order to get me back into my house. Really?! 2) The locksmith damaged the door lever too much when he drilled out the lock, so now I need to get a complete replacement door lever/handle. Really?! I can see the damage myself. I SHOULD have been able to just buy a new lock to replace the one that was drilled out. Needless to say, I called someone else to install the new door lever/lock. read more

Just incredible. I called this morning around 8:30am after our spare keys were stolen. Chris came within an hour and tackled our very old, very annoying front door re-key. First of all - the hardware was a frankenstein mess. Second, the hardware was falling apart and multiple other specialists had tried and failed to fix it. It's now just about an hour after Chris got here. The door is rekeyed, the frankenstein hardware mess is sorted out and our front door is fully functional for the first time in years. And it's not even 11am! Quick, thoughtful, effective, creative problem-solving service. We could not have asked for anything more. So, so, so glad we called A-A Lock. read more

I used this service several times over many years with great results. Unfortunately my recent experience with them was a bust. The very knowledgeable technician arrived on time. But the information he had about my work order was not correct, and his order included lots of extra work that I did not ask for. But he was friendly and agreed to re-key only the locks that I needed. But once inside, he came up with about a dozen "security hazards" and "ideas" regarding other locks and door handles in my house. He casually asked if I'd like him to fix these and I said yes. In retrospect, it was my fault to trust him and not confirm the cost before he started working. At the end of the very long visit my bill had grown from a $500 re-keying to a $2000 for all of the "extras". You can imagine my shock when I heard this price at the end of the job! I paid, but after a week, I was still feeling bad about it and decided to call the management just to let them know Amy my experience, and hopefully prevent other customers from getting an unpleasant surprise bill. Mr. McLaughlin, the owner (for 35 years, he let me know), was surprisingly extremely defensive from the very start of my phone call. He blamed me for what happened and had really no interest in my displeasure with the surprise aspect of this bill. I suggested that he just tell his employees to quote prices when suggesting extra services, and he was offended that I would tell him how to run his business (when he has 35 years experience). While I was giving him my email address, I cleared my throat, and he called me condescending for making this noise. Seems like he was just trying to provoke a fight with me, a repeat customer! I will not go here again. The thing is that the technician was so nice and was just doing his job. The manager/owner is who completely turned me off to this business. If I hadn't called to complain about the surprise bill, I never would have know about this defensive and un-empathetic owner. read more

Ducati riders -- do you only have 1 black key and no code card? That scenario seems to happen a lot when you buy a used Duc, as it did me. I've researched this mess for months. But now I can breathe easier, because the black key was successfully copied, electronics and all, by the cool guys at AA. Start by getting the correct blank from www.motorcyclekeys.com. For me that was the Sidewinder. This blank is also good for some Aprilia and Moto Guzzi bikes. Next, take it (and your black key) to AA, and ask for George. All will be good. read more

Simply amazing place. This is the Promised Land of locksmiths. I called them because we needed to swap out the cylinder to our front door since it was made in China and the key associated with the cylinder is an obscure double laser cut thing that can't be replicated in the United States. Believe me, we've tried. And we were down to three keys so we needed to take action. I spoke to Mikey on the phone. He asked for pictures which I sent. We then spoke again and he said Denise was the best person to help me because she is their all-knowing purchasing guru. So I took out the cylinder myself and took it to their shop. Denise ordered me a new one with a normal North American key. She said it would take a week and it arrived in two days. All we paid for was the cylinder and a few keys. No labour to pay for since they suggested I bring it myself. Most locksmiths would try and milk me for a site visit. Now we can make copies easily whenever we want. read more

My front door lock wasn't working - I tried to replace it myself and made it worse! I called A-A and within a day they sent me the angel Miguel! He not only repaired the old lock (I thought I'd have to replace it) but also re-aligned the plates so that the deadbolt worked easily. Couldn't recommend highly enough! read more

Kurt, the serviceman, was great (on time, friendly, professional). One star because ridiculously expensive. Came out to replace lock on front door. Also had them remove a broken key in a different lock. Trip charge was $95. Parts charge was $375 for Baldwin lock (price online for the part is $205--so they charged an 83% premium over online retail!) Had to come back because they had to order the part (which is fine). Took 30 minutes to do the replacement on the second trip. Charged for a full hour, because Kurt said the owner requires a flat charge of an hour for installing a lock regardless of how long it actually takes (though we were also charged for a full hour for the first visit, too). Total charge = $802! Parts $408; trip charge $95; labor $300 (2 hours x $150/hr). Basically we were charged an extra $175 for the part and $395 for 1.5 hours of work (comes out to $266/hour for labor). read more

Well here it is; this is real. It is about my real challenges of being constantly disorganized, my real knack of always losing things, and how my real size d boobies always seem to get me out of trouble, Here it goes... Just like Ed M is always losing is credit card I am more of a key loser. My keys have been lost for about a month. Since I live in Pleasant Hill I am not super worried about people breaking into my house so i have been just leaving it open. (wow i just showed my inner blond) Well today, after being gently reminded my my significant other about my key situation, I called the locksmith. AA lock. AA lock..since i probably lost my keys one drunk night I thought it was only appropriate that i use a company with this name. I got a quote on the phone for $150-$185 for their services. They stated they would gave a guy here before 6 pm. I got the call that they were 20 minutes out. So here's what i do 1. get in shower-note to self .......wet girls are sexy and pay less for things 2. put on tight shirt-note to self........girls in tight shirts get things for cheap 3 .forget bra- note to self ........girls with visible nipples get things handed to them on a silver platter. and that's how I roll 3 keys, 2 locks, 2 boobies, one lonely locksmith=$60 dollars A super super deal at AA lock. Took in my motorcycle key and a blank to have them cut a duplicate for me so I could get it programmed when I took my bike in for service (it's a chip key that needs to be programmed to match that specific bike). They mangled the new key beyond recognition. They've offered to order a replacement, but that means taking off work early a second day to get there before they close and then making a special trip to the dealer, which wastes many hours of my time. I will update if/when they actually come through on the new key. read more

Yesterday, our 16 month old locked me out of our house (while he was still inside). Frantic, I called A-A Lock and they had a locksmith at our door within ten minutes! The locksmith saved the day and quickly opened the door. The locksmith made us two extra keys while he was at our house. While the locksmith was out, he cut a key for my Toyota truck that I just so happen to need as well. A A Lock was super quick, super professional, and incredibly reasonably priced. This shop is amazing! They have every blank key you can imagine! They have done work for me for years. They do the typical new key while you wait or come out to my business to re-tumble the door locks when I have employee turn over. It does cost a couple hundred dollars to re-tumble my existing locks, but it saves time, money, and headaches in the future. Don't bother getting car keys made here. Was told on the phone that duplicate Lexus keys would be $75 with the programming (per key). When I got there, the person said it would be $125/key. When I told him that I was told $75/key on the phone, he said they forgot to include a 'special' programming charge. I reluctantly agreed to the price and then he asked me if I had the programming instructions! Seriously?! When I told him I didn't have the programming instructions, he told me to goto the dealer. This was a blessing in disguise as I eventually found Lockworks Unlimited in RWC that was way better and cheaper ($30/key and $60 programming for as many keys needed). A-A Lock, you get 1 star for telling me to go away. read more

I stupidly locked my keys in my bathroom and called them at 7:30am on a Friday. First they gave me advice on how to pick it but ultimately they had to come out. The locksmith came in 5 minutes and was very polite. It was $90 which I thought was pretty ridiculous, but of the 3 places I called they were the cheapest so I guess that's the norm. Hopefully I won't need them for a lockout again but I would use them for anything else and highly recommend them! read more

Locksmith arrived on time and was very polite and explained my options with re-keying my locks (since they were different manufacturers, I had to have one replaced). I needed to have an entry lock at my home fixed--the key was just spinning in the lock. I also needed to have a second lock re-keyed to match the entry lock. Scheduling with AA Lock was very easy and the technician came right on time. He re-keyed the one lock in minutes and identified the needed part for the second lock in a couple of minutes also. The broken lock needed a second visit once needed part was obtained. The technician was right on time for the second visit and fixed the lock in 5-10 minutes. Overall, great service and a pleasant technician. My one beef and why I knocked a star off was that the technician verbally quoted me around $150 to fix the lock. The bill at the end was almost $300. Of this $190 was labor. He was literally here for a total of maybe 15 minutes for both visits and I live near their location, so I'm a little mystified by the high cost. read more
