Please see the attached. I've done some reading and apparently this, "test," is widely used by scum bag inspection stations in an attempt to bait patrons into repairs they don't need... I don't see a 3500 cummings turbo dually passing this one. I'm poking around on mass.gov and did find it's a legitimate 1200-1300rpm. I poked around a bit more and came to find it's one of those things that's been on the books since they were written, and obviously the technology has come a long way since 1940. Plenty of threads where SUV/Jeep/Truck owners fail even after everything is replaced brand new because the engine and drivetrain is simple too powerful for the parking-brake to hold. Obviously the shop upped the benchmark so I'd fail and they'd potentially make a quick buck. If I told them, "yeah do the work," I bet you anything they'd have closed the garage, told me to stay in the waiting room as their standard practice, and done literally nothing but put a passing sticker on the thing and write up a $200 bill for parts/labor. This shop failed me due to parking brake failure. First, 1200 RPM isn't even a controlled test at all. Second, he asked me to wait inside the shop and closed the door so that nobody could see what was actually being done for the inspection. I have requested for a video or pic for the park brake failure, but yet to hear back from him. Anyways, I took the car to the dealership nearby after where they confirmed the parking brake isn't meant to pass a test like this. It's designed to keep the car from rolling away and to take stress of the drive-train, not hold the car while it's on the power. Another thing I would like to bring it up regarding this shop is they charge $30 for any error code reading. In case you are not aware, it is free of cost if you go to any Autozone or O'Riley for the same service. So, folks do your due diligence before stopping by this gas station for inspection. read more

Stopped by after a google maps search of area businesses for an inspection sticker and so glad I stopped here! Andrew, the owner and operator, was informative and very pleasant. I appreciated the education about the State's inspection rules regarding visibility of the "Spirit of America" on the front and rear plates which could have jeopardized my inspection had he not helped me remove them. Sent my son here to get his car new car inspected. We had transferred the plates from my car to his. They failed his car because the front license plate was "faded". Who ever I spoke with about this because I could not believe this, was so rude. The plate is somewhat faded but clearly readable. This was ridiculous. DO NOT GO HERE. If you don't believe me, ask any auto shop/parts store in the neighborhood. Just ask "where is one place I should not take my car"? They will tell you this place. They literally destroyed my car. I went for an inspection sticker and they told me I needed a sensor to pass. The next day (and 700 dollars later), my car overheated. The temperature gauge didn't read hot, it just died on the highway. Engine was fried! Car was a total loss ( 5 grand blue book ). I never once had a problem with it.... EVER! Another mechanic told me that they probably didn't "bleed the coolant system properly". I was asked, "Why would you take your car there? They are the worst, just ask around". I did ask around, and now, too late, found out how god awful these people are. read more

I've taken both my cars here for inspection the last couple years and they always do a thorough job and you'll walk out knowing your car is in great shape or exactly what's wrong with it. Today I took my car in for inspection and Andrew spotted a dead headlight bulb and replaced it and some screws that were missing on the fixture in a matter of minutes before completing the inspection. Instead of failing my car and sending me off to replace it myself, he was able to get my car fixed, complete the inspection and get me back on the road all during my 30 minute lunch break. But the main issue here is his unprofessional, idiotic and immature attitude. A simple " sir, could you park parallel to the the fence or this way to the fence". What terrible customer service. I went here to get my car inspected and the garage technician was incredibly rude to me. When I told him I would take my car somewhere else he changed his tone a bit. I only let them continue with the inspection because I was in a hurry. I sat in the lobby to wait, net to a large injured Doberman. It's a good thing I like dogs. Still, very unprofessional. I overheard the garage guy saying very rude things about me. I would have left, but they were almost finished with the inspection at this point. I am a pretty easy going person and I love to write a good review for a local business. After my experience here however, I recommend you take your business elsewhere. They get 2 starts rather than 1 only because they were prompt. read more

The one thing I hate the most is a LIAR and that is exactly what you are. You never called me and never updated me with anything you were doing with my vehicle. I actually called you around 10 am and asked what was going on and you had a nasty attitude when I asked how much the repairs were going to be and you said you had no idea. I told you the day we dropped the truck off we did not have 400 300 or even 200 to repair the truck again we needed to know how much things were going to cost before you went on and decided to just fix it. My fiancé and I explained both to him and his wife before ANY Work was to be done it needed to be discussed with us first. As far as there oil change goes you decided again to do on your own you never spoke to my mother inlaw until AFTER the work was done. Also the caliper you gave me a receipt for that you "supposedly " fixed, was actually fixed correctly this past weekend and the 130 dollars your charged for the part I was charged 40 bucks for. Now that is a BIG difference I will be seeking to be reimbursed for your "work" you did on my vehicle because your nothing but a scammer you triple charge your customers big time. You didn't do one thing to help a returning customer whose family always came to you for work to be done on their cars. I can only imagine how much you have ripped us off over the years. I've been dealing with A&J for over 5 years and they've been terrific. I began getting inspections there, an I liked them, so I had them work on my Accord. They told me what I should and shouldn't spend money on, which was pretty refreshing. I sent my son there with his first car, after he'd been quoted $2,000 by a local auto-repair chain to fix an exhaust problem. Andrew fixed it for $800 with a used part and some welding, and it lasted as long as the car did. Julie even showed my son how to check the fluids. Next I sent my daughter for her car's transmission issue, and they let her know what was wrong and suggested that she not spend any money doing extensive repairs (as another shop had recommended). But they did flush and refill the fluids and she got anther couple of years out of it before trading it in... more money saved with good advice. In short, A&J has helped me and my family keep our cars in good repair for a lot less than other shops had quoted us, and they've done it with the kind of honest and personal service that's pretty rare these days.
