Awful experience , I had thought they were extraordinary, but I was completely wrong. I would not trust them with your vehicle. There is a Dominican dude that is trash, I would never want to see him again! He gave me back my vehicle all dirty with oil grease inside and outside as to don't come back here again whereas the shop was near my daughter when my tire broke. I just had the worst experience at this location trying to get an inspection sticker. They failed my car that has practicly a new muffler stating that there was a leak. After, I went to a muffler shop that inspected the muffler and the muffler shop said that there were no issues with it. Mind you that this wasn't even the muffler shop that installed the muffler so there is no bias here. I returned back to the Gulf station with the document from the muffler shop and they still refused to give me a passing sticker. They then refused to take my car down off of the lift when I wanted to leave. After finally getting my car off the lift I then went to another inspection station that passed it with no problem. I had met one mechanic a few months ago for a quick fix on the recommendation of the Jiffy Lube. So when I had a 'rattling noise' and with Inspection Looming, I stopped in yesterday just before noon to see if the gents at Norwood Gulf could give it a look-see. They not only raised up the car to check, they went on a test drive with me, figured out the problem, called for parts, and said "We can fix this today.". 5 hours later and for a very reasonable price, my 08 Matrix is riding as quietly and smoothly as it ever has. Great place to stop for gas but that's it no parking to do inspection unless you take a gas station pump just to go in.

Yeah... a gas station, or so you think, right? Sure, you pull up, pump your gas and off you go. It's as impersonal as you can get/hope for, but if you want to meet a nice guy (I don't mean to date him, I just mean to meet him and say hi!!) go inside and get a soda or snack. Nice older guy, and I am guessing his name might be William since the sign outside says "William's Coffee Express". He's nice. The world needs more nice, so go and say hello. read more

Thought I'd stop by on the way to work to get a quick inspection done. Was completely not obvious where I was supposed to park so I parked somewhere and went in to ask the clerk. He ignored me because he was talking to someone on the phone for personal reasons. Eventually told me that I should park by the sign and wait. It was still unclear what he meant but I tried to follow directions, waited for 20 minutes and ended up leaving without an inspection. One time I got excited because the bay door opened and they drove a car out and also opened the other bay doors and the mechanic waved at me, but nothing. Terrible customer service. read more

Some people think reviewing gas stations is a waste of time. I completely disagree, as gas stations are business' and lots are amazing and lots are completely terrible. Neponset Street Gulf in Norwood is one of my favorite stations throughout the town, for having the best prices, great amenities and lots of friendly staff. A few years ago, the entire gas station was updated, and now has a tiny, yet new convenience store with coffee, snacks, candy, Italian ice, and I believe they even have ice cream. The station also does Massachusetts State Inspections as well as Auto Repairs. According to the storefront they do tires, engines, brakes, air conditioning, oil changes, tune ups, transmission, and a few other things I forgot. The guys working inside the store are always friendly and efficient ringing up customers, a pleasant surprise in comparison to some of the other nearby gas stations. Additionally, prices are amazing and always considerably less than those of basically any station along Route 1. The station is conveniently located on Neponset Street in Norwood, close to Interstate 95 and right off Route 1. 5 stars. read more

I had a "low tire pressure" light come on as I was driving my 3 y.o. granddaughter back home to Norwood. It was a day with 90+ degree temps and my granddaughter had fallen asleep in her car seat. Norwood Gulf was the 3rd station I pulled into for help. I pulled up to the store area and asked for change for the air machine. I actually was blocking the pump area. The man behind the counter came right out from behind the counter and showed me where to go (a service bay). He explained to a mechanic that I needed my tire checked. That man helped me immediately. Not only did he put air in the tire for me, he showed me the problem and gave me advice. He declined a tip as well. I cannot tell you how much I appreciated that help! read more

Dropped my car off, was told to bring it on 7:00am Saturday by the mechanic... I get there and find out the mechanic doesn't come in until 7:30... ok no biggie I wait. By 8 they offer to give me a lift home since I'm local (appreciate it). They said give them a little time they'll call back with an estimate. 11:30 still no call and I call them (okay they are busy, I understand). Finally they tell me what's wrong, I initially pointed out to them what I think is wrong also to try and pin point the issue. They said they can fix it give them two hours. Two hours go by and they call me back saying they can't get the part but can do an improvised repair that doesn't require the part that originally needed to be replaced.. I'm like fine thx for trying to save money go ahead fix it... They call said it's all fixed ready to go... I take an Uber to pick it up and discover the car is still broken and leaking power steering fluid... so now they bring it back in to see what's going on.... Apparently another part is broken (2:00 pm on Saturday). Now I have no option to fix it for the weekend. On top of that, William was aggressively forcing my steering (that already had a broken power steering line issue which was wat we were trying to resolve) and I heard what sounded like something breaking in my steering on my car as he forced the steering trying to hurry my car out of the bay to take an inspection sticker car. While I can't say for certain he totally broke that part that I now need to replace (rack and pin), I can fairly assume he made matters much worse. I will give credit William was polite and tried to be accommodating, however, he was taking on too much at my expense and I did not have a car for the weekend along with him actually possibly breaking another part of my steering to try and squeeze in a $35 inspection sticker. So now my original $250 problem is a $1000 problem *possibly* due to him forcing my car and breaking it. I'll be honest not having power steering fluid was probably not the best thing for the rack n pin but the aggressive nature he was forcing my steering wheel and the breaking noise I heard while he did it leads me to believe he was a significant contributor if not the direct source of that breaking. We all mess up but you should realize a customers time is very valuable and you wasted a lot of it and possibly made my situation worse by trying to rush. read more

great place for inspections stickers, always quick and professional and honest

This is a statement I have prepared for small court case so that you (prospective customer) have a good understanding on how Norwood Gulf does their business!!! I request you do your due diligent and know what you are getting into. My background: Took my car (S80 Volvo) to Norwood Gulf for repairs (see attached for the work done by Norwood Gulf). After picking up the car from shop, I noticed a "thump" noise and called (within 5 mins after picking up the car) the shop right away. I explained to the owner(William) the car was violently shaking and expressed the work was not done correctly. The owner mentioned that the car was safe to drive and should not be a problem. Within driving about 5 miles from the shop, my car front left tire flew out in the middle of the highway. The wheel (rim) rolled to the other side of the highway. After the incident (same day), I called the shop and towed with the help from state trooper (see tow receipt, paid using Citibank cc card) the car to the shop. The owner admitted that he should have checked the log nuts of the wheel, drove and checked the car first before releasing the car to me and promised (the owner and his dad) to take care whatever was necessary to get the car running along with the underlying damages (wheel studs, rotor, lower control arm, wheel bearing) that might have caused due to loose wheel in the highway. He(William's(owner) Dad) also promised to retrieve the wheel that had flown away to the other side of the highway (provided the exact location including the mile marker location). I was assured that it would take a day or two to retrieve the wheel (Massachusetts highway would have to retrieve the wheel for a cost) and I went about my day that day (Day 1). On Day 2, the owner still had not retrieved the wheel and fixed the damages caused under the car, and claimed that it was due to wheel bearing part that I had bought from FCP Euro. If anyone who know even a slightest about car knows that the loose wheel is caused by log nuts(see pic). From Day 3 to Day 8, I called the shop (multiple times a day) to speak to the owner and all I got was the owner was not in the shop or had stepped out. However, on Day 9, the shop (employee) called me to pick up the car. When I got to the shop, the owner was nowhere to be found and all I noticed was the owner had put the donut tire and left the car key in the front office for pick up. The owner did not even bother to buy a wheel and a tire that had flew out in the highway. I repeatedly called the shop to talk to the owner and inquiried about the refund. The owner completely ghosted me. It had been more than week since I picked up my car from the day wheel came off in the highway and still saw no refund. There were damages. The wheel studs had broken (see pic). When the car fell on the ground it had also damaged the brake rotor or bodywork under the car (see pic). The damages caused when car fell on the ground due to loose log nuts 1. Tow charge 2. Wheel because it could not be recovered 3. Tire replacement because it could not be recovered 4. Left Front Rotor damaged from hitting the ground 5. Brake Pads 6. Brake Fluid Line Leaking from impact 7. Front left wheel bearing replacement 8. Wheel Alignment read more

While traveling back from the Children's Hospital of Boston with my husband and my daughter, my TPMS light came on. I did everything I could while driving the vehicle to "feel" if I had a flat. After a few miles, I decided to just turn off I-95 & find a gas station, so I could put some air in my tire to shut that light off. Well, much to my surprise, my passenger rear tire was nearly flat. There was a sharp, flat piece of metal sticking out of it about the size of a half dollar. "Tyler" came out to check on it for us, but told us it's too large to plug, and they don't patch tires anymore. I was going to need a new tire. I have the "road hazard insurance" on all 4 of my tires through Mavis Discount Tire, so I wanted to go there for my "free tire". Tyler took the time to check locations for me, but told me they were all way too far. It was actually shorter for us to drive all the way back to NY on the spare, but it was 178 miles. While another very nice employee changed my tire, Tyler gave me some valuable information on speed/distance regarding a "doughnut" spare. I can't say enough great things about this station! Being so far from home when you have a roadside emergency can be a scary thing, but Tyler and the crew at Norwood Gulf were honest, and extremely helpful. read more

Do not put your car in for service here, it will cost you and then some. I dropped off my car for new brakes. On my way home I realized my glove box was broken. Drove right back to Gulf; the mechanic Gus, admitted to forcing my locked glove box open and breaking it. They gladly took the bill paid and sent me on my way with out informing me of the damage done to my car. They did not replace or make up for their wrong doing. I will never give them another dollar, not even for gas. And I will inform everyone I talk to about their shady business. read more
