I was like it's 5 days old and should be fixed by them. we argued about it and there is no warrant. I got 3 used tires April 2020. Nearly all 3 have already had to be replaced in less than a year (1 has needed a patch). Currently sitting here with a flat tire again after just replacing one a few months ago. Due to Covid I haven't even driven that much! My work is less than a mile down the street. I would like to say I guess you get what you pay for, but I've had used tires last me years. Never again. read more

**BEWARE OF A&O TIRES AT 2538 PETERSON** They are the world greatest liar Yesterday afternoon (Apr 24, 2023) I visited A&O to replace two of Flat Tire Services. I had really worst experienced with them. I'm NOT going to them anymore! I went there and asked them if they had any used tires for my two flat tires. They said they don't but they had new (Westlake tires) and they will give me a good deal if I take these. The deal is I need to pay them $240.00 with the two new Westlake tires including rotation balanced and they will keep the old flatted tires for recycling. I told them I'm not ready to spent $240.00 actually I was looking for used tires. Then one guy said Ok $220.00 I said I will pay you $200.00 and also, I will pay you cash if you do the job. Of course they said no. then I said Ok I will check on others place if I don't get biter deal with other place then I will come back to you and also I asked them what time you guys close, then said 6:00 pm. While I'm get in my car to go somewhere else, they said Ok, les do the job. They installed both tires on one side, instead of front/rotate. They should be taking one of my front tires to back and two new Westlake tires should be installed on the front, also they put my old flatted tires inside my trunk, all because the $200.00 they do not have enough profits. I talked to them and they just lied. Thy said $200.00 they can't do the others service (rotation, balance, and recycle old tires) which was agreed. p.s. Met the owner once I think and he seemed to actually give a darn about his customers. It pains me to have to do this... Think hard before attempting to save.. In an attempt to save some cash I visited A&O on a Sunday morning to replace 2 bald tires on my gf's Scion tC. I called ahead to confirm stock on two decent condition (60-70%) 215/45/17s mounted and balanced for $100. Turns out all four existing tires were worn down to the inside belts. The owner made a great deal for four matching tires mounted and balanced for $200 cash. I could only find 1 patch on a single tire! What a deal......... Or so I thought.. The tires are NOT the issue here. The problem is that the young man who bolted on the wheels/tires did so with a high pressure impact gun. Over the period of 2 months the front end of the car started to deteriorate rather quickly. A noisy wheel bearing alerted me to the issue last week. The first issue came up when I could not manually remove any lug nut. A local mechanic, too, was unable to break the lugs loose manually. It took 30 minutes to remove just the front lug nuts (10 lugs) with an air-driven impact. Upon inspection I noticed that both front wheel bearings were nearly shot, which is odd for the tC. Upon even further inspection I started to notice cracks in the brake rotor hat around each lug stud hole. Now, searching for further damage I've noticed that EVERY lug stud has been stretched and the lug nut bases deformed. Below is a list of cost for parts replaced due to the irresponsible young man left to simply install a wheel & tire: - Brake Rotors (front) -- $75 - Wheel bearings & hubs (front) -- $80 - Wheel lug studs (10) -- $27 - Wheel lugs (10) -- $20 Labor for replacement -- $660 Total -- $862 + tax I've not yet inspected the rear components but the inevitable whirring of the passenger wheel bearing is present. Assumed replacement of bearings, studs, lugs and rotors on the rear is around $350 with labor by a certified mechanic. This was not a coincidence given the maintenance history of the vehicle. The problem was confirmed by two separate mechanics at two separate repair shops -- the lugs were unsafely installed by an overzealous amateur. Of which is sad, because I absolutely appreciated the savings at the time of the tire installation. BEWARE OF CASH ONLY DEALS! Because of my stupidity not asking for a receipt or proof of sale the idea of legal action would be 50/50. At this point the only proof I have of even being a customer at A&O is the attached image, an ATM receipt and phone records. **Update: the evidence gathered was actually approved by a local attorney and legal action will be moving forward against A&O for negligence. I'll continually update this review as time goes on. I simply ask that anyone reading this avoid A&O for the time being. **BEWARE** read more

This place is great. Sunday morning I found that I had a flat. A bad one. Would need to replace the whole tire. Of course being Sunday, only a couple of places were open and they got terrible reviews. I saw this place and it got great reviews. I called and talked to Chris who gave me a number for a tow guy, and he had a tire for me. 15 minutes after I arrived I was on my way. Cash only business. Call ahead for prices. They have a good selection of tires and they fix flats. Hopefully I won't need them anytime soon - but if I do, here's where I will go! read more

However his father (really kewl guy) & his helper (don't know how to describe him except to say a cute mound of fur with an accent). They sold me four very good Continentals for $200, virtually new. I've bought great tires from this place in the last two years. Prices are really great. They do the work diligently but also quick, fast & in a hurry!!. With 4 tires & balancing, work done in 20 minutes. Maybe would have been sooner but that blasted snow/cold came a swooshin through. He had me show him the screw and said, "We'll have it fixes in a minute." I had barely paid him (only $10) and his employee has patched me up. Seriously...within a minute. couple months ago I popped a tire and needed to get it replaced. I actually needed all 4 replaced but was hesitant since 4 new tires cost about half my cars worth. I accidentally stumbled on A&O and oh man am i glad I did!! They guy I dealt with (Chris i think?) was great, told him what size tire I needed he said he can hook me up and to just stop by. When I arrived I have to admit I instantly became a bit skeptical. The place is literally a store front filled to the ceiling with tires. There is about a 2 ft. walkway going through the middle of it. However, from that point on my experience was nothing short of spectacular! He remembered me from our phone conversation just said to pull around back and he would take care of the rest. I pull around into an ally behind the store where they do the work. He showed me the 4 tires (all different brands but same size) all looked to have at least 85% tread left on them and at $35 bucks a pop you cant go wrong. They basically just jack your car up right behind the store and change the tires there. the process took maybe 30 min. One downside was that it was cash only but for what this place is, I'm not that surprised or complaining for that matter. after all was said and done I spent about a half hour getting 4 (kinda) new tires for about $140! The cheapest quote I could find for new tires was $500 anywhere else with the install. If you are strapped for cash or don't feel like spending a ton of $$ on tires for a beater this is the place to go. Not only are they quick and efficient they sell you a quality product, especially considering the price tag. A&O is a diamond in the rough!!!! read more

After reading all of the great reviews, I thought I would save the money and get used tires instead of new ones. BIG MISTAKE. I was assured that the tires they put on my car had good tire depth, and would get me through the winter "no problem". About a month later (tonight in fact) I hit a pothole and one of them blew out. While that is not the fault of A&O tire, I was told by the mechanic that helped me out that I was the fourth person TODAY to pop a tire on that pothole, I was really upset to learn that the tires they sold me were junk. The tread depth is much more shallow than they claimed, and the mechanic who helped me out said that they were not good enough to get through winter. Now I am out the money for these used tires, and need to replace them AGAIN in order to have a safe vehicle. Paying for things TWICE is never a bargain! Buyer beware! If you are more savvy than I, than perhaps this place will work for you, they are fast if you need a flat fixed, I am sure they can handle that, but do not trust them to be honest about the quality of tire they are putting on your vehicle. They will lie to your face, and send you off on tires barely better than the ones they took off your vehicle to begin with. read more

Very professional and been in the business for 25 years. Extremely budget friendly. As far as location, be careful on Peterson. Over the years I have had several nails in my tires, a consequence of driving on Chicago streets. Since A&O was close to work I have stopped in and have been a customer at least 4 times. Once I took a tire from a van of a gal at work and they matched it brand for brand, an exact replacement. I came out from shopping at a grocery Saturday night only to find yet another huge nail through the corner of a fairly new Continental tire. After getting the spare in place I had to go on Sunday to get the original tire repaired. Alas it was totaled. I don't know if I was working with A or O but he opened promptly at 10 am as stated and got right to work, I got a Michelin replacement "better than that one" for under $50 mounted and ready to go in 10 minutes. Can't say enough good about this shop. I made a special trip from Lakeview up to Peterson and Western, turn left, and they are right on the north side of the street, about 1 1/2 blocks west. Parking in the alley behind for service. Give A&O your business and you won't be disappointed. read more

I should have read the reviews here first. First time at this shop referred by some other mechanic (thanks a lot buddy!). They replaced my front tires, all good, in the back of the alley (first sign!) .. the guy popped two jacks under the front tires, lifted the car up, and replaced them. Changed a leaking valve too. No problems so far. Then he approached me, going "Give me $40 bucks!" ... OK, seems fair ... but ... had no cash on me, they did not tell me before they did the work. Now I find out is 'cash only'. They said "leave the phone, go get cash!" ... are you kidding me? What is this, some underground market? I had no choice, left the phone hostage, ran to the bank, got cash, paid the piper. No receipt, no nothing. Still a good deal, I wish they tell you upfront that is "cash only, no receipt". Now YOU know! read more

I pulled over and noticed that the front passenger tire was extremely deflated. Im super pissed because I just bought four brand new tires. I drove by A and O and asked them to assess the problem. The guy basically told me it was a valve problem and that I didnt need to replace my tire. I wasn't about to pay that for one tire since I bought the car 8 months ago with brand new tires! I stumbled into this place, since it is on my way to work and got the same tire brand as my other 3 tires for $45. The tire was pretty much brand new, it looks better than my other 3! I was in and out in about 20 minutes. This is a cash only establishment by the way. You drive up to the back and they jack up the car and exchange your tires, while you wait outside with them.
