I'm not sure what the problem is with the workers here. They were a bit rude to me 6 months ago. This week my landscape worker who is Latino picked up a tree from them for me. They seem to be rather rude to him. He didn't complain but I witnessed them popping the tree on the tail bed of the truck and not bothering to help him get it in place or tie it down. They seem to be pretty abrupt with him. The ladies there are always nice. They need to train the male workers to improve their attitude. read more

Service sucks. Get there 8 minutes to close which is 5:30 on a weekday and got told you have 3 minutes to find your tree and they didn't even help us find our tree. What's funny is about 4 separate people showed up at the same exact time and they basically tried to turn everyone away. The two white guys obviously don't care about the business cause they were just rude to us. Jose however was awesome and very helpful so if your gonna go, ask for him. I'm sad to see all of the poor ratings for A&P. They are my favorite nursery in Gilbert. Though they are smaller than most nurseries in the valley they are local and very very helpful. I always swing by this place a couple times per year. I always check here first for not so common plants. This place is good if you are looking for certain plants not in the big box stores. They are smaller so selection does disappear. Customer service is good when they are slow but it does seem suspect when busy. I bought a Christmas tree here in December of 2013. It was 12 to 14 feet tall and we asked to have it flocked. We have been buying our trees here for 7 years prior to this and they have done a good job. This year they didn't do it right even after 2 tries. I talked to the manager who I now know is the guy who does the flocking. He had a disgusted attitude with me like he now has to go out of his way and fix MY problem. He had several excuses that none of them made sense since there was a tree right next to mine that was done exactly how we wanted ours done. I am spending over $300 on a Christmas tree, I think it should be done right and without an attitude. I called him on his attitude and I said he should cut the *&$*# attitude. He stopped what he was doing and demanded to give me my money back. Which he did. So the next morning I found out the owner was going to be at that store. I went in to complain. The owner's attitude was just as bad as the managers. It was obvious to me the Manager had already filled the owner full of his side of the story, and the owner didn't even want to hear my side. I decided to just forget it and leave. They both followed me to my car calling me names like "You are a Prick!" I would highly recommend you go to any other Nursery. I was referred to A&P by a relative, and I know nothing about maintaining the outside of my home. These gave me "cheat sheets," and a really great deal! I bought a package deal to over-seed, which I priced out at Lowes and Home Depot. The big retailers wanted $150-200 for what A&P sold me for $77! They were prompt with answering questions and service. And told me to call if I had any more questions, and thankfully I haven't needed to! read more

Rob.....when I called Rob talked to me like I was an idiot when I asked about Bermuda seed. I am female and I have done my entire backyard but the grass seed I bought from home depot is coming up weird even though I followed all directions. Rob was very short with me didn't give me information I was asking for and pretty much treated me like I was stupid and never said bye, just hung up on me. I have had this problem in person here before just never knew.the clerks name. It seems to me like some of the men in here have issues with females asking questions so I would not recommend this place to any female. I'm certainly not a feminist trust me, but I do expect way more respect than what I have gotten in store and over the phone. I went to the nursery to pick out some foliage for my first ever home and had so much fun checking out the various species. I settled on multiple items including a beautiful hibiscus bush for $34.99. By the time I got home, less than an hour later, the flowers were crunchy and dying. The one I picked was vibrant and full. There was a definite switch-a-roo when I was finalizing my choices. Super disappointing especially when I called to ask them to do the right thing and they wouldn't without charging me a $40 trip charge. I borrowed a truck to get there and I have a super small car myself so taking it back was not an option. Oh well, I'm sure there are plenty of other nurseries willing to take my money. read more

I went to this place a couple of days ago and customer service is the worst here except there was this really friendly guy that didn't bother to help us out but when me and my family member asked for help the first time to this fat ugly ass attitude guy we had asked how could we tell if a plant was a five gallon and he just said any container that size would be a five gallon then we had asked him if they sold bushes and if so where could we find them then he just gave us a stank face and stood looked around like if he was deaf and mute and made me feel stupid and he just replied with an I don't know they're plenty around you and in my head I'm like how the fuck do I make a cactus into a bush fucking idiot ass so we just walked away and this helpful guy came up to us and asked if we needed anything and helped us find the bush then we go up and pay and asked if we could return a plant that my gardener had bought a day ago the guy said no because we had already planted it and said that he had gone up to our car and checked the plant while we were not there obviously because we didn't know he had done that but I would not ever come here again Fuck all of them they smell like barbecue PEROIDT. read more

I've been going to this shop for about five years now, off and on. I went in there for the first time years ago to talk about over seeding my yard which is 16,000 ft. They have these packages that they sell to you which have the seed, fertilizer, and mulch for different yard sizes. I always buy the big package and do about 75% of my yard leaving the other 25% undone with the Bermuda grass. This year when I went in to get my package the guy at the desk was quite the jerk to me. I chalked it up to them being rather busy at the time and said to myself I would just let it go. My wife came up to me a few days ago and said that she wanted me to over seed the rest of the yard which we usually don't do. So I went there to get a small package for this 3000 square-foot area. They usually have a sign up that lists the different packages and I couldn't see it anymore. I was looking around and it was quite odd but no one came to help me regardless. So then I approached the desk and asked the guy where the sign was for the different packages for over seeding, and he said to me, "I took that down last week. It's November" And didn't expand upon it at all. I then said, "Well, what can you do for me because I want to over seed my grass?" And he said, "Nothing." And then walked away from me. I was quite shocked by that and stood there for moment. When I walked in I saw mulch. Inside I saw fertilizer and seed. So first, I don't understand why he was being a jerk, and second, everything was still available. So I decided just to leave. I shop here because it's local...not because their prices are low. I'll just go to Lowe's from now on as they are cheaper...and nicer. read more

Horrible customer service! Went in to buy a tree and asked "Trevor" to help me out. He said no one buys plants this time of year and when I insisted I wanted one, he said he offers no guarantee and it will die. When I asked to speak with manager he said I couldn't and refused to give me his name. I asked again and he said "Trevor". No one was in the place. I guess he was upset because I interrupted his Facebook surfing while at the cash register. Never again! read more

i have been there for trees, lawn seed, flowers, and all my garden stuff. everything is nice. my garden this year was a real success and i got everything from them. my lawn is doing great and the seed i got from them was perfect, no weeds came up. the staff is pretty helpful too. they don't hassle you but they know their stuff if you have a question. they get pretty busy sometimes. read more

Don't waste your time!! Cost might be low but they do not stand behind their products! Spoke with the owner about a verbally abusive employee that lied about their products. He would not do anything to fix the problem but sell me something else. The owner asked me if I was handicapped because I can't plan a tree... Who asks a customer that?? This is the most unethical company I have ever worked with! I have never been more disappointed by the way I have been treated as a customer. Watch out for this company!! Make sure you get everything in writing and don't believe what anyone tells you there. Even if you talk to the owner, he will stand behind his employees, that can do no wrong, and not remedy the lies that have been told. This place is a really good local nursery. looking at some of the other posts, you would have to have a really bad attitude to get these people upset. The staff is always really helpful and have even gone out of their way to help me choose trees that would block the noise from the street behind us. I learned how to overseed from them and take care of my existing trees. They are very knowledgable and if you are patient and nice, they are the same to you. you get what you give in life. read more

From reading the reviews obviously my current experience at this Nursery is not uncommon.. for the past few years I have purchased numerous items from this location and had lawn mower blades sharpened and up to this point have had no issues.. I recently purchased numerous annuals of various varieties and asked if I bought too many what is their return policy. I was told that as long as they are in the original container they will take them as a return with the original receipt. Some of the annuals looked really bad just after one day and even though I continue to water them before planting and others I just did not need but when I try to return them the guy behind the counter seemed upset and that it was a lack of watering and he would not be able to resell them. He had a complete attitude with me from the get-go and was literally throwing the things I brought back across the counter into the trash. I told him that I would like to exchange some of the trailing petunias for better ones and when I went into there yard to look most of their inventory looked just as bad. I informed him of this and he didn't seem to care and told me that they shouldn't be bought and had no explanation when I asked then why were they out on display for sale. I flat out told him in front of other customers that I did not appreciate his attitude and that all I expect is a quality product for something I paid for and even nearby Lowe's or Home Depot will take returns if you're not satisfied at which time he told me that I should go there then instead. I tried to help out the small business but with customer service like this it makes it difficult and I would suggest that you try other nurseries for a better experience read more

great looking transplants every year. they switch up the varieties and even have some heirlooms available. they have never disappointed.
