This place and Mike (the owner) are a 10-out-of-10!!! I am a 53 year old resident of the Valley since 1979, my wife and I moved to Gilbert 2.5 years ago and I was recently referred to go here for my weed and pest control needs and here is my take on my experience there: I was referred here after complaining about my bug and weed problems to a local business owner (Lou @ Green Acres) as he ranted and raved about Bug & Weed Mart and MIKE. I finally made it in to the store and thank God I did, Mike is AWESOME!!! I told Mike about my fly and my HUGE mosquito problems, along with some cricket issues and also my weed items. He walked me through what to get, WHY to get it, HOW to mix and use it and he even marked the containers with those ratios etc for me without me needing to ask! My wife would get absolutely eaten alive by those bloodsucking bastards when she would just step a few feet out onto the patio and the flies and other flying bugs would always swarm anybody that dare step foot out there too... I did what he told me to do and the next day when I went out to poop scoop and to water the gardens, it was about :30 min later that I suddenly realized... I only saw probably 3 flies and NO mosquitoes!!! I told my wife about all of that and in all honesty, I don't think she believed me, as it was unbearable for her to go out back. The next day near sundown, she came out back to talk to me and then exclaimed "You're right!! There's like NO flies or any mosquitoes out here... I can't believe it!!!" I am now a God of a husband for doing that, when in fact I owe it all to Mike and his Bug and Weed Mart!! Anyone who moves to AZ is afraid of scorpions right? After moving into my brand new home, I found I also had a black widow infestation. I didn't want to hire an exterminator because I hadn't heard of anyone in the neighborhood being happy with who they use. The products at this store are pricey but worth it a 1000x over. You will spend less time doing pest and weed maintenance because their products are agricultural grade. You won't be spraying a spider with half a can of Raid to get it to stop running. Try half a spritz of a natural pyrethrin aerosol and your black widow is shriveling before your eyes. Although I greatly fear insects, I wanted 100% assurances I would not encounter any live creatures in my house. So I asked the bug man at work what he recommended, because I knew the stuff at Home Depot and Lowe's wasn't going to cut it and I didn't want to mess around. Being a former chemist, I am not afraid of handling insecticides and I didn't want to take the green/natural route. He recommended Tengard for outdoors and Cy-Kick as an indoor spray which is safe for pets. Additionally, I sprinkle the yard with Delta Guard Granules. I have probably seen less than 4 live bugs in my house each year. I do see bugs and scorpions but they are dead! For fast spot treatments, I asked the experts at the store what they recommend. For black widows I swear by Tri-Die, half a spritz will stop a black widow in its tracks. Unfortunately, that didn't work for a hairy brown spider that ran really fast, but Bug & Weed Mart had a solution of course, Purge III. read more

I have visited this location twice and been highly impressed each time. I believe it is the owner that I have dealt with because I have never seen anyone else working there. He is always super friendly and knowledgeable. I don't think he is ever trying to upsell you or try and get you to buy unnecessary things. It is a great place to go for any bug problem. The first time it was for scorpions. They sell things you can't get at lowes or home depot and it actually works. The second time was for some bugs in our grass and he knew exactly what I was talking about. When I let him know other stuff I have bought in the past had not worked, he knew what would. If you are having any pest problems that you want to take care of yourself instead of hiring a company, this is the place to go! read more

We went to find a pre-emergent to apply in November. Browsing the shelves it's clear that they are well stocked to help you address just about any weed, bug, or garden or lawn weed or pest you'd come upon. The store is clean, well laid out with 2 long shelves of product on each side of a center. isle. Each products is labeled as to it's use. But, the "star" of our visit was the salesperson. She was quite knowledgeable about the products and how to use them. Check them out if you've questions about bugs or weeds. read more

I wanted a professional level treatment, but couldn't afford that. This store has everything the pros use, but I didn't know how to use them. My son was stung by a scorpion this past weekend in our living room, so of course I saw this as an act of terrorism and now it's personal. I've declared war. Like with any war, I needed weaponry and lots of it. I visit Bug & Weed Mart because it came highly recommend by a coworker. He knew what he was talking about. The gentleman who helped me explained everything in great detail. I was confident that I could win the war on terrorism or at least make them go somewhere else. I'd be happy with them going anywhere other than my house. I have no clue what the other people are talking about when they didn't get greeted. This guy was friendly and beyond knowledgeable in all things bug and that makes him A-ok in my book. People need thicker skin. The weaponry was all that I could have hoped for. The granules that I sprinkled worked like a charm. They were my mini grenades of awesome destruction. I have a blacklight that I take with me nightly outside to go toe to stinger with them. They think my back wall is like a five star resort. Instead of me rolling out the red carpet, I show them my flyswatter. So after I sprinkled the granules, I honestly saw just one and that jerk was in an area that I might not have sprinkled as I should have. All in all, they sell quality weapons to battle terrorist bugs. I hate doing it myself but in the end it saves you a ton of money and you get the satisfaction of knowing your making your casa a safer place. Use these guys next time! You won't be sorry! read more

The staff there tries very hard to inform their customers about best-use scenarios and specific helpful advice to take care of whatever issue you bring to them. With that said, I often go in to ask a specific question but usually the only associate there is often doing a great job helping another person and I end up waiting 15-25 minutes to actually talk to someone which ALWAYS leads to a purchase. I'm not there to just get information and freeload like a lot of customers. I understand that additional associates would affect payroll and expenses, but if the average product price is usually north of $50-75 maybe it's time to invest in additional help or maybe set up a priority customer system? I would be happy to subscribe to a monthly subscription price to get my answers from an email and prepay for the product so I can just run in and pick it up w/o waiting for the one person who is working. read more

Customer service was great! The employee was extremely helpful and eager to give me step by step instructions. I had no reason to shop around and immediately bought what I needed. Unfortunately I needed more and the store was closed for the holidays. I did a quick search online and I was pretty shocked to find the same chemicals at almost half the price. I am all about shopping local but a mark up of 81% is unreasonable in my opinion. Great customer service but I will be shopping around in the future. read more

Nice store and good customer service, but I was disappointed at the price of the products. I bought a pint of Suspend SC there for $67. Went online for the same product and found it $40 and free shipping. I understand the cost of running a storefront and am willing to pay extra for a local product, but come on! I have been buying all my bug and weed products from here for over 4 years. It is a small shop with the products that are the best so if you feel you need a bigger selection you can try other places. My moms house was in an area where we would see 15-20 scorpions a night and the products we used took that count down to 2-3 a week within a month of use!!! These products work! Visited the store on Gilbert and Pecos last Saturday. I needed a product or products to kill mice in my home. The employee was very friendly, helpful, and knowledgable. I bought what was suggested and I'm extremely glad I did! The products were priced fair and they worked extremely well! In less than a weeks time I no longer have a mice problem. While there I was able to gain valuable information about weed killing and bug killing products. I will be back to buy those products that were suggested. Really like having experts available for their advice. Great customer service and a large variety of supplies to take care of your needs. I have been in a few times and every product I have purchased has not let me down. Only downfall I have is their hours of business. Its hard to get there after work or before work due to their limited time of operation. Even being open 30 mins longer on weekdays would help probably a lot of people. Or open earlier during the summer on weekends so people can apply product before it is 110 degrees out. Other than that I have no complaints about the shop. read more

I came in to buy a product for beetles in our house and the I was not impressed. The guy working in the store convinced me he knew more than Terminex and I should buy a product worth $100. It did not take care of the problem in the house. Also, he was very rude and treated me as if I was "dumb." I would not recommend this place. You are better off going with an Exterminator read more

I have been in there on two different occasions and both times the man working there tried to sell me a very expensive and completely inappropriate product. (This was the same man both times. If he is the owner or an employee I don't know) The last time I went in looking for an organic, indoor, safe around pets, soil drench for my problem with fungus gnats in my 6 house plants. He tried to sell me a twenty lb. bag of granules that was labeled for use on lawns. It was not organic, not for indoor use or safe around pets and not a soil drench! When I repeated what I needed he not only didn't know what fungus gnats were but he also didn't know what a soil drench was. When I expressed surprise that he didn't know the term "soil drench" he accused me of calling him stupid and got very indignant trying to impress upon me that HE has expertise and I don't. I could have explained to him the difference between being ignorant of something (aren't we all?) and being stupid but his attitude indicated that it was a lost cause. Do yourself a favor and shop somewhere else. read more

Walked in today with my niece and there was one other person in there being helped... The employee came within one foot of us and still didn't even acknowledge our presence...after several minutes we walked out, still never had even been acknowledged- no "hello" no "I'll be with u as soon as I'm done with this customer" not a word to us. I later called to ask a question about a product I saw there, when I called I did say "I was just in there with my niece and no one even acknowledged us but I have a question about one of your products" the man proceeded to yell and say "as you could see I was helping a customer and I was the only person in the store!" I replied that I too worked in retail for many years and I too was left alone many times...however I ALWAYS acknowledged my customers, that is no excuse" .... If I was the owner of this establishment I would never have an employee like this...customers are what keep businesses open and I'd be appalled if this was the way my customers were treated. I am giving this store a 3 star based on my experience, which was the service person seemed to know what he was talking about, but the product was less than impressive. I live in a new home which was built on a former vacant land parcel. So, while the parcel was sprayed with pre-emergent, there were some weeds starting to appear in the second spring time after the build. I went here hoping to nip any new weed growth with another dousing of pre-emergent. I also figured I would get some good post emergent for the weeds that had already popped up. Well, $88 later (which included the pre & post emergent and a special application sprayer), I applied the pre emergent EXACTLY as instructed. After spending that much, I made sure I applied as instructed as it wouldn't have made any sense not to. Well, the weeds continued to pop up, and since I still had some Roundup, I have been using that rather than the post emergent I purchased here. Not very happy with the results to date (it has been about 3 weeks), but I really don't know what I would have had, had I not used the pre-emergent. I think I hear somewhere a store, selling these products to the general (unlicensed) public, can't sell really strong product. So, I don't know, I think a general, middle of the road review is acceptable, as I got decent advise, but I think I could maybe have gotten just as good a result with off the shelf product from Lowes or Home Depot. read more
