I called and Chris came out. He was pleasant and adjusted my sensor. My remotes stopped working and said he'd look into it on Lift Masters website, then said well it's 20 years old. You need to replace the motor, but he'd get back. Never did. I called a week ago Mon 10/23. He said (like before) he'd check his calendar and get back to me between 3-4p. Once again, he didn't call me!! After less than 24 hours of "adjusting" my sensor, the garage door wasn't working properly. On two occasions he said he'd get back to me and never did. I guess he doesn't need the business that bad or doesn't like women, who the heck knows. Called out 3D Door Designs and Dewayne was awesome. My Lift Master motor "DID NOT NEED REPLACING" which was to the tune of about $700-800. Dewayne replaced my sensors, said the motor was fine and the only thing agreed with, were my remotes needed replacing. This was fixed within 30 minutes! New remote, programmed my internal car remote and brand new sensors. Very little respect for A & S and I've used them before but NEVER AGAIN!! I asked if they can check it out Sunday and immediately gave me a sarcastic response of, "you'll have to rob the bank". This should have been a red flag but Decided to schedule an appt anyways. We ended up fixing the garage ourselves and I called to cancel the appt. Chris just said "ok" in a snarky tone and just hung up. Even though this company didn't provide me service, I won't be contacting them in the future because of Chris' poor customer service/mannerisms. Really appreciate Chris for his honesty and expertise. Called about a motor that wasn't able to lift our garage door after adding some insulation and he recommended rebalancing it. Not only did he get it to work perfectly again, but he also adjusted and oiled it so that it's quieter and doesn't slam the ground as hard. It was the day before Memorial Day. I was inside the garage fiddling around,when I hit the close button for the garage door, I didn't notice that a rake handle was protruding out. I heard a crunching sound as my garage door came to a halt! The left and right edges were completely off track, plus 4 rollers came off! Impossible to close the door without a 1 foot gap at the bottom. I tried an old trick I used to do as a kid, close my eyes open them, everything would be fine! But it wasn't! I searched for 5 garage repair companies...4 times we are closed until after the Memorial Day Holiday. I swallowed my heart... but then I called A&S the gentleman on the phone said, I have some family commitments today, but I can come out tomorrow! I replied , it's Memorial day, he replied not a problem be there between 8 am and 12 pm. I have the invoice somewhere, can't find it. My wife backed up into the garage while it wasn't fully open causing bottom weatherstripping to fall off and a small tear on the bottom panel. Garage door is fairly new maybe 6 yrs old if that. I figure if I have to replace the whole bottom row, why not replace it with a new row with windows and move the rest of the panels down. I contacted several places and the 2 who contacted me. Real Garage said they will contact to schedule estimate after I provided info, it never happened. RS called and came and gave me a quote, but after a week of no response or updates. I gave up. I just moved in to my new home when we had trouble with the garage door. I jumped on Yelp and sure to find out A&S Garage serviced my area. I called and advised that I needed a garage door opener and someone to come out and check out the door because it wont open or close properly. Next day Chris arrived and noticed that the garage door sensors where missing and a big dent was at the top of the door and suggested it to be supported and secured. The next day he showed up with the 8ft beam to secure the dented door. He quickly assembled it and popped the dent in. The door was now flush and tight. He mounted the garage door sensors and in no time the door would open and close perfectly. I had requested two remotes which he had and gave me some tips on how to keep the door running perfectly for a long time. Its been a week now and the door has worked great. The original garage door opener that came with the house finally "expired" after 21 years, RIP. It refused to open and trapped my car inside the garage one night. So, I called Chris in the morning and he came quickly and released my car. He gave me a quote for the new one opener, same price as he told me in 2018. About 2 weeks ago, I started having my garage door to stop closing from the outside whenever I leave the house in the afternoon. Opening the garage door was not a problem, just closing it became an issue ever since. I could not figure out what was wrong and after I spent about an hour struggling with it, I called A&S. Chris answered and he was calm and very professional, he walked me through how to release the red cord and manually close the garage door, and scheduled Josh to come by the next morning. Josh came the next morning right on time and he put the garage door back into the correct position and it was working like a charm. Cost of service call is very reasonable and it was around 9-10AM in the morning. We could not reproduce the problem I was having at that time. However, when I tried to close the garage door the next day around 2PM, it was auto-reversing again! Frustrated, I called and asked Josh to come back, and he called me back and said it is the computer in the motor that is causing the issue and only way to solve it would be to replace the motor unit. Somehow, I didn't buy that. If it is the computer, then why would it only happen when you try to close the garage door? And it hit me: it could be the sunlight... I had a problem with TV remote when the remote sensor was in direct sunlight, so I thought sunlight might be interfering with the sensors. I looked at 2 sensors and sure enough, the one with reddish LED was in the sun when the garage door is open. So I covered it with a dusty plastic lid nearby and hit the button to close and it closed like a magic. It started to make so much sense because last year around the same time, one of my contractors was having the same problem with garage door not closing. And few weeks later, it started to work just fine until about 2 weeks ago. It was not happening on foggy days or after dark either. It's that time of year when the sunlight angle starts to change. To verify this, I went on to the Internet and searched for keywords "garage door sunlight" and I found a thread on Garage journal describing the same exact issue and solution suggested was to swap the locations of the sensor with reddish LED with the one with green LED. To be fair, when Josh was at my house, there was no sun shining into the sensors so it probably did not occur to him and at least now I know how to manually close the garage door in case of emergency :-) I am posting this so that others having the same issue will find the right solution if it is caused by the sunlight. read more

Appointment was for him to show up between 8-8:30am. He called around 8:30 saying he is going to be late because of the Bay Bridge problem. He won't be able to make it until 9:30am... Considering this is the third days since it happened, couldn't he have figure out how get around that problem and get here on time? Considering I made this appointment 3 days ago, could he have told me yesterday that he can't come during that time because of the bridge problem? One of the torsion springs on our garage door broke, and we called Chris from A&S to schedule an appointment. It was a breeze to set up a time, and Chris's associate Josh arrived early (after calling first) to take care of the repair. I watched the whole process and Josh definitely knows what he's doing -- he worked quickly and competently, completing the job in about a half hour. He replaced both of our springs with upgraded galvanized steel springs that are supposed to last at least 7-10 years, greased our hinges and did a couple of minor adjustments to get the door to raise a little bit higher than it had. Not only can we now open our garage door, it's now opening and closing more smoothly and quietly than before. Josh was a pleasure to work with -- very friendly and personable, and he didn't try to up-sell me on anything either which is something I hate. We contacted Chris from A&S Garage door for a repair estimate. Chris showed up determined that our garage door had to be rewired and needed new links to operate the garage. He especially told us that the motor was fine and didn't need to be replaced. So he fixes the issue and we paid the man $275 for the repair. Literally, a week after our garage door stop working, so we contacted Chris to see what was the issue. He told us today that the motor needed to be replaced as it's too old. Now Chris if you knew the motor was too old and needed to be replaced... Why did you charge us $275 for a temporary fix, that didn't even last for a week? People please be aware of these SCAM artists and make sure they're telling you the truth. read more
