Being as my personal vehicle had caught fire on route 128 in Woburn, I didn't have much option as to who towed it. But my tow truck driver was a nice kid, and the employees in my interactions here were polite. It was otherwise fairly simple for the paper work to release my vehicle to my insurer. Of side note (not important to the company or their services), I was further amused to where their location was. Their business is located in a former Armstrong Ambulance Service base. The call sign for the base was 'Fox.' How do I know? I worked there many moons ago and had worked there. So it was a trip down memory lane visiting this location. It had been well over a decade since the last time I was there. I remembered exactly where the bunk rooms were, the restroom, the terrible shower with luke warm water. Ah, memories! read more

I got a left front flat tire while driving my friend's wheelchair van on 95 North in Woburn. The State Police called A&S towing which arrived quickly. It was a dangerous situation being in the breakdown lane on the highway with my friend who is in a wheelchair. We are grateful for the large tow truck sent to help us by A&S but even more so for the person sent to help us. Connor remained calm and had to get out of the tow truck on the highway to talk with us. He guided us while we drove to safety off the exit ramp by driving the tow truck on the highway behind us. He directed us to pull over onto a side street where he changed the flat tire while my friend remained in the vehicle in her wheelchair. Connor was patient and professional and we are so grateful to him for keeping us safe and for remaining calm. Thank you Connor! read more

If it were possible to give zero stars, I would. My son was rear-ended near Peabody in July 2020 and the Trooper called the tow service before we could call Triple A. Evidently, this company has a contract with the state that sends them a lot of business. But, because many people are not adequately insured, unlike myself, this garage has created storage fees and cash up front requests because they dont get to choose who they get when they have a state contract. These predators are now in possession of my vehicle because of this state contract and wanted a ransom to even look at the damage. On the day the vehicle was towed, they would not even let my son retrieve his school back pack without threats and a call from the insurance company. These people are the devil and need to be avoided at all costs. My next reviews will be with Maura Healy and the Attorney General's office on why they are rewarding these vendors with state contracts when the service model is predatory and antagonistic. Why would the Trooper call them when we had AAA service? Lastly, good luck talking to them. They are open from 9am to 4pm so good luck trying to do business with this company if you have a job. In general, when your car has been towed (from anywhere, for any reason) you're not in the loveliest of moods, am I right? Well A&S did nothing to make me feel better. The whole crew was chomping down on lunch when I arrived, and the first thing I saw when I walked in was an "In God We Trust, All Others Pay Cash" sign. Gag me. Not only was it annoying that I had to leave to get cash at an ATM across a big intersection, but that sign brings out a rage reaction in me. Once I got the $147 out of the machine, I had to show both my license and the license of another driver in order to get my car. I signed for the car and pulled it out of the lot, but as soon as I got on the highway, yep, you guessed it, the sideview mirror came flying off. There's no doubt in my mind that the town truck did the damage and the mirror was rigged up so that i'd sign for the car and then have no leg to stand on when I claimed it was damaged upon receipt. This was a horrible experience - the service was expensive, the people were jerks, and they concealed damage they'd done to my vehicle to get me to sign away my right to protest. Huge fan of these guys. My van died on the side of the road late after work, my wife met me at the van and we were on our way home within 20 minutes. Last Monday, I was the second car in a three car pile-up. While the accident wasn't my fault and no one was hurt, I was very shaken by the experience. The state trooper and I determined that I wouldn't be able to drive away from the accident because of the extensive damage to my car, so he called in A&S to tow my car to a garage or their lot. A&S Towing was prompt in picking me up, and I found the driver to be very reassuring as I was processing the accident. He offered to drive me to the MBTA or to take me to the tow yard with my car. I opted to go to the tow yard. On the way to A&S, the driver described what the process would be like working with insurance, the appraiser, and the tow yard. He gave me solid advice on what to do and how to manage the communication on my end. The lot was very secure and they told me they wouldn't release the car to anyone without our consent. The car was determined to be a total loss, so we swung by the yard today to pick up our plates and the remainder of the personal items from the car. We signed off on the salvage yard pick-up and again the staff at the yard were friendly, efficient, and informative. I'm sorry to see the two low ratings below, although I understand that a towing experience under the best of circumstances can be stressful. My experience with this company was good, though, and I appreciated the empathy and efficiency of the team there. read more

Just last night I was towed, I was dealing with a officer so it would seem I was not paying attention to the driver. I was! And he was very professional. Then the ride to the yard was pleasant after we get to the yard, I couldn't get a hold of anyone to pick me up. The driver gave me a ride to the 24hour mobile a couple exits from the tow yard. Well I forget my wallet in the truck. I call a&s back reluctant at first to make the driver leave his house it was almost 11pm. This Towing Service should have the doors shut down on them. I was stuck in a dilemna where a friend used my vehicle to go pay the fine to pick up his vehicle at "A&S Towing". Upon Arrival, he met a salty standoffish man that was non compromisable. After he paid the man 160.00 to retrieve his vehicle he faced a slew of terrible customer service. The man would not let him leave my car there and said leave it if you want but it may not be there when you return. Imagine the audacity he had. Instead of going out of his way and being considerate he was cold. I would never reccomend these guys to anybody. read more

I, however, was in an accident; completely overwhelmed by the events of the day and how to proceed, Kevin (can I name names here? cool.), took excellent care of me. He was knowledgeable about the processes I would have to go through; he calmed my nerves, answered ALL of my questions, and gave me great advice on how to proceed with my insurance company. I ended up going back to A&S a couple times (to sign release forms, etc), and can reassure whomever is reading this that every employee (literally, every human there) was incredibly helpful and polite. A few weeks ago my car caught on fire and my insurance was AWFUL throughout the whole experience. They denied my claim to cover all of the expenses which left me in a very overwhelming situation seeing as though I only bought the car a few months ago, it caught on fire which was not at my fault, AND I have full coverage. However, Kenny from A and S, was SO helpful from day one. He let me access my car and was so understanding of the situation I was in. From telling me stories of times he's had other clients deal with the same insurance, to recommending several places I can reach out to files claim or get help, and to letting me come back to pick my car up a few days later until I could resolve my issues with my insurance. Worst attitude ever, owner told me it wasn't his problem when their phone system went down and I couldn't reach them to have car towed from their location to my shop for repairs. Started calling Friday after a Thursday evening tow off 93 (4 miles from their shop) end up driving to the office on Tuesday morning and had to pay storage for the days they were not answering the phone. This was one of the worst services I have used. No credit cards, cash only (what year is this? 1902?) When I needed to have another tow service tow my car, which was undrivable, to my house which was over 50 miles away (this was a requirement of my insurance company), they refused to allow me to sign the release to the second tow company remotely by faxing or emailing me the information. I had to be there in person. It's a good thing my boyfriend was able to bring me there to do this, because, again, MY CAR WAS AT THEIR LOT!!! How would someone get there in person if their own car is sitting at their yard?!?! They also conveniently did not mention the storage fee I'd have to pay (again, only in cash) at the time they towed my vehicle. When I asked to speak with the manager I was told rudely that he wasn't going to be in until Monday and I could talk to him then. Interestingly, that's another $70 in storage fees if I waited to talk to the manager. For the record, a copy of a signature emailed or faxed is legally enforceable. The insurance company says that this is highly unusual for a tow company to require an in-person signature for this kind of release to another tow company. Usually when another tow company has to take a vehicle, the release can be done remotely or even just as simply by phone, with me giving verbal permission. I will be calling the State police and asking them to remove this company comtact from their list of towing contacts. This company is antiquated, and I think they are just interested in trying to rack up storage fees. read more

First of all if I good give a negative rate of stars it would be negative 100. My car was towed here by the state police after the accident. I called them to ask what was needed to get things out of my car. Nick told me nothing because it's a 2017. I drove 45 minutes to get there and Bob-says you need proof of collision insurance. I said I called and was told nothing because it is a newer model. Bob, the owner , says no one here would tell you that. He asked for my license plate number. I said I don't know it. I can't let you in the car. I said this Is ridiculous. I called and came all the way here from NH. He goes through his slips and there's only one car from NH. Then he lets me in. I then call my auto shop to have it picked up. The shop sent a tow truck and they won't release it because I have to fill out a form. Bob never told me anything about doing that. I had to drive another 45 minutes to fill out a form. They won't fax it or email it. Nick said they don't have a computer. Really. What company in this day an age doesn't have a computer. They just wanted another day to bill the insurance company for storage. The entire office is rude and unprofessional. At all cost stay away from them. read more

If your car gets towed becasue you were breaking the law somehow you probably didnt show up there witha huge smile happy to pay your bill. I had a brand new motorcycle have a power failure on my ride home from the dealership yesterday. As the dealership was closed and it was getting dark, I realized I would need a tow, and soon! It is not easy to find a company that will do an emergency cycle tow. I called and a very pleasant sounding gentleman picked up the phone, knew right where I was stranded, and after asking a few questions about the type of bike and if I might be able to help push, said a truck was on the way. 20-25 minutes later a flatbed showed up. The driver was very nice and was VERY CAREFUL with my brand-new bike. I don't think any of the metal pieces of the tie-downs ever touched my bike as he threaded them through. I could tell he was being very mindful of how he was securing the bike. We made it home in one piece, I rode with him in the truck and he was a very cautious driver. He gave great instructions while we helped remove the bike from the truck (definitely a 2-person job). I can't comment on the cost of the tow as the dealership will be covering the cost. It's what I would expect to pay without a towing protection plan from AAA or the AMA. If I were ever stranded in the Wilmington/Reading area again I would definitely call these guys first. read more

If your car ever towed away because of accident, this is where you want your car to be. Trust me. Recently I was involved in the accident on highway, resulting in having my car totaled. It was my very first car accident and absolutely devastating. I was in complete shock and despair when I showed up at the tow yard next day to collect rest of my belongings. I could not help but crying at sight of my demolished car and prospect of what to come (settlement with insurance, looking for a car etc) that I could not begin to imagine if I was capable of handling. It was so surreal. That's when the owner, Mr Kenny Sullivan, approached me to console. Once I finally pulled myself together, he gave me a list of practical advice on what to do and where to seek for assistance. He informed me of my legal rights in event such as this. Despite near their closing time, he stayed out there in the yard, talking to me, for almost an hour until I felt better and prepared to face next step of this reality. I have utilized all his advice, and successfully able to negotiate for my settlement check, which final price came to much higher than the insurance company initially offered. I would not have known that it was negotiable. I would not have known where to start. I felt fortunate to get to know him and his business. I honestly cannot imagine how I could come out of this whole devastation without first meeting Mr Sullivan that afternoon, both financially and psychologically. He not only guided me into a right direction but also, more importantly, empowered me to get back on my feet. Thank you. read more

They extorted my wife for $80 dollars cash. She got a flat on 93. They came out and the tow truck driver asked for either $80 in cash, or she'd get towed and it would cost more. The driver was extremely rude, and would not let her change her own flat tire. He drove her to an ATM and made her get the money. On top of all that, he did a TERRIBLE job putting her spare on! It was put on wrong, and she had to stop a mile later to put it back on herself anyways. Needless to see, Better Business Bureau will be getting a complaint about this extortion racket. This is a comment on safe/friendly driving habits! I was biking in Boston today and a bag fell off of the bike. I pulled over and waited for a break in the traffic to retrieve it, assuming I'd have a pretty smushed lunch. When I looked back there was the big A&S truck that had been behind me - stopped and patiently waiting for me to rescue my lunch. It completely made my day, especially during a time when riding has been particularly stressful because there have been several crashes involving bikes and large vehicles. I was on the phone with the state police when a tow truck pulled up in front of me and helped me move my car over to the breakdown lane. He was not called to me for service he could have just drove right by me but stopped to help me. He knew how scared I was and made sure I was OK before leaving. The tow to the facility was great. Nick was accommodating and helpful. At the facility, I was on the phone with my insurance company and had to retrieve my keys from the vehicle so I walked to get them from my car. I was intercepted by Ryan who proceeded to yell at me with bullying statements. I told him that I needed something from my vehicle. He told me too bad and walked up to me pushing his chest into me to push me out of the way using physical force. I continued to walk to my vehicle so he whined at me saying he was calling the police and would have me arrested for trespassing. I called the police while I was locked inside the lot without any way to exit. The police had Nick open the door to let me out. Ryan was rude, bullying and lacked any customer service whatsoever. After an episode with my vehicle in which another 13 cars had also been damaged due to debris on the roadway, our cars were towed here and we had no say in where they were sent. I would never recommend this company and suggest that others stay away from them. Their total lack of customer service and compassion after a car incident is inexcusable. The bullying and condescension used by Ryan showed a total lack of respect and ill manners. The state police should find another towing company to use or the owner of A&S should fire Ryan and promote someone like Nick. read more

Once again these dudes at A&S helped me out once again.......Saturday I had an incident on I-93 with the state police where my navigator was towed and let's just say I wasn't able to go pick it up until Tuesday afternoon because of the long weekend. Once I got there the price was extremely reasonable I've legit paid more for a tow from valley towing in Andover where I got the car the same day it was towed and it was $150 more then what A&S charged me for the tow and storage for 4 days. Also the battery was dead and I had a rear flat tire, within minutes these guys had my tire pumped up and my car jumped in no time and didn't charge me anything else which 98% of tow places will do. I've used these guys before on my own and a few unexpected times when I've had run-ins where the police have had it towed and they always treat me fair and reasonable.
