I should start by saying I've never lived near an A&W but I've always wanted to try it because I think they have some of the best root beer. Maybe that had an impact on my expectations but oh boy was this a bad experience. I rolled up to the drive thru and no one ever came to take my order. After a while I pulled around to the window and saw people inside but no one came to the window. I was about to pull away when finally someone came up to the window and acknowledged me. I would give three and a half, but I'm not sure I can go as high as four. Sorry we didn't take pix. We each got the A1 with fries. The burgers were put together nicely and they didn't fall apart at first bite. The food was pretty good. My main concern, which is in other reviews, is the cleanliness of the dinning room. When we got there it wasn't super busy. Someone could have been wiping down tables, making the drunk are not full of spilled soda to the point you didn't really want to touch anything. It wasn't "horrible", but it wasn't good. I kinda fear what the restrooms look like. But, as I said, food was good. I saw a couple get root beer flats in chilled glass mugs! Pretty cool! read more

I have no idea what these other reviews are talking about. Food was fast and service members were kind and helpful. Really good fries, solid burger, and best root beer out there. It's combined with a KFC so there's no reason to go inside. (Sadly not many stand alone A&W's out there anymore. I think maybe two in CO.) I don't know why everyone's saying it's over priced, welcome to the world of inflation. I got a bacon cheeseburger meal and it was ten dollars; cheaper than the last time I went to McDonalds. My only real complaint would be that there were a ton of onions on my burger, but its kinda hard to complain about having TOO much of a topping; just take it off. Worth going but maybe stick to the drive-thru! read more

We were able to order very quickly but then they had us pull to the side until our food was ready. 2 other people ordered and pulled up next to our car, then were given their food before us. We ended up waiting for about 15 minutes before they brought it out. This is the second or third time we've been here and we've had issues each time. Skip this place. We stood at the counter waiting to order and the staff ignored us. Walked out and went some place else.

2 in the afternoon. Nobody in the restaurant. Nobody in drive through. As usual, every table is dirty to a different extent. Employees too busy doing... what exactly? I see some on their phones. A couple smoking by the drive-thru. We ordered 4 root beer floats. It's literally been 11 minutes so far and we've gotten 2 of them. I wish this weren't typical; it's typical. We live so close that the kids beg to walk here sometimes, but I dread it every time. Last time I came to carry-out a dinner, just a bucket of chicken and some sides, I waited over 40 minutes. Longer than it would take for a real restaurant to cook, serve, and clean up a proper meal. I don't understand it. TIP: Never opt to walk in if you can drive though, they prioritize the cars to an extent that you may well never be served inside. Edit, it's now been 16 minutes........ Edit, it's now been 23 minutes......... Just occurred to me - if they're this bad about cleaning the tables I can't imagine how long it's been since they disinfected that soft serve machine. Hmm P.S. I used to work in fast food in the 90s, middle of Boulder, when I was 14 and 15. I'm not a service snob, I don't consider my expectations unreasonably high. By far the slowest place ever. 2nd car in drivethru and waited over 20 minutes for a $5 meal. Rude service too.

I know better than to have high expectations with fast food, but there are certain things that you do need to have. First of all, they were completely out of ketchup. Not only in packets but also in the back for their sandwiches. Normally management would run across the parking lot to grab a few bottles until it arrives, but apparently not here. They also had to check to make sure they even had onion rings and were also out of the sauce. Then they got my burger wrong and I only requested no tomato. The missing ceiling tiles (about thirty!) do not make you want to eat here. Fix the leak. Normally these are pretty good in every way but management appears to be poor in this one. read more

Wanted to treat the kiddos to a classic float in a mug. No clean mugs... bummer Okay, we settled for cups. Looking around, only 4 tables were occupied and no line in the drive through at 2pm. Crumbs on the tables, floor, service counters. Just wasn't very clean over all. I think for a restaurant like this you almost need to have regular staffer braking off to tidy up and a manager constantly keeping an eye out. Didn't seem like a tight operation. Lots of memories at A&W well give it another shot at some point and update in case today was just an off one. read more

Could use a little more regular cleanliness - in between or after customer rush periods the dining room can get neglected. Otherwise the staff is friendly and attentive and the food is just what you'd expect. read more

Arrived to get my son a burger and fries before his baseball practice. Ordered and my son told them no mayo. She said no problem, that doesn't come on the bacon cheeseburger. After about 15 minutes I checked on our food and they said they dropped it and had to start over. After 25 minutes they call out order. Of course it is slathered in mayo. In the interest of time I simply ask for a new top bun. All I get is attitude from the young man, who finally brought out a top bun. While my son ate I asked to speak to the Manager. I was told they were busy but would come out to see me. Never happened. Wish there was a way to give zero stars. One more note, they offered me a free cake and got mad when I said no thanks, I just want my son's food. read more

Used to love going to this place when they had great service but I've noticed a huge wait difference and find myself sitting in the drive thru for at least 15 minutes every time. This particular time they didn't even get my order right and I had to go back after getting all the way home to get the right thing. Step it up this is ridiculous. Congratulations to the crew here for literally giving me the worst fast food experience I've ever had in my life. Arrived in the lobby at about 830pm on a Wednesday night. Mind you, they close at 10pm. We ordered a Papa burger combo, Mini corn dog combo, and a hotdog kids meal. Pretty simple order. After sitting down in the lobby for about 5 minutes, the cashier came out and advised us that it would be "just a few minutes extra" because their main fryer was down for cleaning. (Remember it's 830, why are they in such a rush to close?) We can wait... no big deal... right? Wrong. 30 minutes later after watching one of the employees put the burger and the hot dog in and out of the microwave multiple times, in fact I think that's how they cooked the damn things (because apparently it was also time to clean the flat-top), we called it. Walked up, confronted them about their "cooking" practices, got an excuse about how they had to use the small fryer in the back, and asked for our money back. Luckily I won't ever come back to this place since I don't live in the area, but God help the people who do live in the proximity and make the mistake of attempting to eat here when they are closing in 2 hours or less. read more
