I recently dined at your restaurant, and one of the employees informed me that discounts are offered only to veterans, not to individuals with other statuses, such as active duty personnel. This practice seems unfair. I was also told that this is based on your policy. If the reasoning behind your promotion is budget limitations, I would like to ask what type of support or consideration you provide for both former and current service members, especially since both have made sacrifices to serve this country. I finally had the chance/time to stop in here & check this place out!!! When my mother was in her early 20's she worked @ an A&W joint so I had asked her "Ma, what is good?" & she told me "the burgers." As much as I wanted to grab a fried chicken sandwich I went with a Papa burger. I found it to taste very salty but I'm also one who doesn't add salt to my food. The french fries were good but I didn't like the ketchup, it definitely wasn't Heinz....lol I did get some honey mustard to dip my fries in & they had Heinze packets & that didn't taste good either, it had a strong vinegar taste to it. Of course I had to get a Rootbeer float but watch out guys because there must be some secret to drinking it without it foaming up & the rootbeer spilling all out the glass & onto the counter/table. This happened to me as soon as I put my straw in the cool, glass A&W mug. I started chugging it down as if I was in a drinking contest trying to get it to stop from overflowing. I made a mess on the counter in the process. My friend had the same problem & while we were sitting in the dining room area this elderly couple had it happen to both of them & then this guy who was by himself. I then saw a young boy with a float & thought OMG its going to happen to him too!! It was actually entertaining to watch people drink their floats but this boy must of been a professional....lol I watched him & he first slowly pushed the scoop of ice cream down into the glass & started to eat that with a spoon, it wasn't really touching the soda and then he slowly put his straw in & started to drink away with no over flowing......I can't tell you the last time I had a soda (I don't drink soda anymore) but coming here I just had to have an A&W float.....This drink should come with instructions.....lol The decor inside is super cute & I even got some random lady to take a picture of me with the A&W bear. Someone was cleaning the restrooms when we got there so they were clean. Even saw some guy come to empty the change out of the PacMan machine. The guy taking our order @ the counter seemed a little slow & confused. My friend had placed her order & told him that she would be paying for our other friend when he asked "is this all together?" I told him I was separate. After my friend put his order in the kid was asking me what I wanted, I had to remind him I was separate. Once you have paid for your meal you get a pole with a # on it that you bring back to your table. Our meals came out quick. It's a pick up after yourself dining area. I'd definitely come back for the Rootbeer float challenge & see if I can drink it without it spilling....I'd like to try out their fried chicken sandwich or tenders (I'll have to bring my own dipping sauce) & an ice cream cone. I did find their prices to be expensive but I liked how you could get a rootbeer float as your drink in the meal combo. They really get the 4 stars because of the fresh root beer! I stop at A&W when I can, the nearest one to Vegas is in Baker, CA. The service and staff were really fast and friendly. The food came out fresh and hot. I got the bacon double cheeseburger and cheese curds. The only complaint is the prices have gradually increased throughout the years. Overall, would I come back? The A&W roll restaurant is located on the Boulder City Pkwy. Which is the main drag going through town off the freeway. I Stopped in to A&W today on the way out of Boulder City after dropping off donations at St Jude. I ordered up a delicious root beer float in the drive thru. The line was fast, the order was prompt, and the delivery was fast. The root beer float was served up foamy and delicious And ice cold. The root beer flavor pores with vanilla ice cream from a soft serve machine simply cannot be beat. While it wasn't a hot day, the treat sure did hit the spot. read more

I usually go to A&W for their burgers, and those have always been good -- consistent. That's why this visit was disappointing. This time I went through the drive-through and ordered the seafood platter with a drink. Unfortunately, about half of the fish was rubbery. I ended up throwing part of it away. When I received my order, I was only handed the food -- no drink. I stayed in the drive-through and let them know I was missing it. The lady at the window asked, in a rude tone, what I needed. When I explained it was my drink, she said the meal doesn't come with one. I showed her my receipt and explained I ordered the drink separately. She seemed irritated but eventually gave it to me. The whole interaction made it feel like I was an inconvenience for simply asking for what I ordered. I'll stick to the burgers since those have been good in the past. read more

From the moment we tried to place our order, the experience was frustrating. My husband was speaking clearly into the drive-thru speaker, but the employee--who we later learned was Norma, the manager--kept cutting him off and saying she couldn't hear him. Instead of calmly asking him to repeat himself or adjusting her tone, she became audibly irritated. Her impatience was clear, and it set the tone for what turned out to be an incredibly disappointing visit. We placed a fairly simple order: two meals, two Freeze Floats, and two Polar Frosts--six drinks total, each requiring a straw. When we received our order, we were only given four straws. No big deal--we politely asked for two more. That's when things escalated. Norma came to the window, and when we asked for the additional straws, she rolled her eyes, slammed the drive-thru window shut, and returned only to aggressively hand them to us without a word. My husband and I looked at each other, completely shocked. It was one of those moments where you're not even sure how to react because the behavior is so unexpectedly rude. Still trying to be patient, we waited for her to return to take the payment. She opened the window, stuck her hand out with a disgusted look on her face, and barked, "PAYMENT." My husband handed her the card, and without another word, she slammed the window again. Then, another employee--Alfonso--came to the window to hand us our food (a chicken meal and kids' meal). We asked for a side of ranch, and again we were met with attitude. He rolled his eyes and said, "You don't have anything that needs dip." I stared at him, honestly dumbfounded. Fries and chicken apparently don't qualify as items that warrant dipping sauce? We asked again, and he replied, "Well, you can if you pay for it." Still with the same rude tone and demeanor, he took the 54 cents, shut the window, and left us waiting. Eventually, Norma returned with the ranch. I asked her for both of their names. She pointed to a sticker on the window and said, "I'm the manager. My name is Norma. If you have a problem, call the number." My husband asked for Alfonso's name, and she snapped back, "Alfonso." I told her directly that her attitude was completely uncalled for and that her behavior was unacceptable. My husband added, "This is why your restaurant is failing--because you lead your team terribly, and they follow your example." She just shrugged and pointed again to the complaint number on the window, showing no care or concern for the interaction. From the time we ordered to the moment we drove away, we were treated with open hostility, sarcasm, and zero professionalism. We weren't rude or demanding--we were calm, polite, and simply trying to get what we paid for. Instead, we were met with eye rolls, slammed windows, and snarky remarks. If this is how management treats customers, it's no surprise the rest of the team acts the same way. Customer service clearly isn't a priority at this location, and it shows in every interaction we had. Absolutely unacceptable. read more

I came here 2 weeks ago after the Boulder City Car Show. I made sure I came early because the last few times I came during any event in Boulder City , they are always out of the Frosty Mugs and what good is a Root Beer Float without a Cold Frosty Mug. Of course the parking lot is a nightmare during these times , but I got lucky and there were 2 spots open when I pulled in. Of course the dining room was full , but a couple got up just as I got my Float. You put your number on the table and they bring out your food to you. I've come here several times over the years , many with my son when he was younger , and the food has never been anything special and has gone downhill over the years. I got a Chili Dog and Onion Rings with my Float. The Chili Dog was one of the worst I've ever had. I've had them in the past and they were okay , but not today. The Onion Rings tasted like the cheap ones you buy at the grocery store , not good or fresh tasting , just bland. Also as soon as I put my straw in the float it started overflowing faster than I could drink making a mess on the table. I guess I broke the seal of the ice cream and there was too much root beer and the ice cream started to sink pushing up the drink. I had to get a stack of napkins to clean it up. After I finished mine i did get a Free Refill of the Root Beer. I love the old decor , the mural on the wall , the giant bear you and the kids can take pictures with. It just reminds me of when I was growing up in a small town in South Carolina. I really only stop here for the Root Beer Float because the quality of the food , even the hamburgers are just not as good as they used to be. read more

You need to acknowledge your customers. I walked in and stood at the counter while you were busy. I get that. But - at least "acknowledge me!" I expected nostalgia, what we got was worn out and tired with a new menu that has lost all of its Americana appeal. The root beer is still great but they no longer sell jugs of it to take home either :-( Also gone are the mama burger, baby burger and teen burgers. The papa burger is still on the menu. Also gone are the one of a kind fries that were difficult to explain. Fries people used to travel across the whole of the Las Vegas Valley and come up to Boulder City to buy them even if you had no other reason to drive this far. Now it's basically a worn out marginal burger place with quality along the lines of a Sonic. Not terrible but nothing to get excited about either. We usually go in the summer for root beer floats + lunch food, but we stopped for breakfast this time! We ordered the sausage breakfast burrito combo that comes with tots and Peets coffee (or another drink if your choice). Everything was 5/5 for flavor and portion! Great restaurant! I came here after a day in Boulder City & the food was great! I ended up getting another Root Beer Float because they were very good. They also had the A & W Bear available to take pictures of! The service wasn't too slow but wasn't too fast either so that means they take their time cooking to food to perfection! The ambiance itself is kinda loud when it gets busy, but it's a great family restaurant for everyone of all ages. There are some areas that are wheelchair accessible, including the restrooms but it can be a little tight in some areas as well. :) read more

Stopped by A&W in Boulder City with my daughter. We wanted burgers and root beer. You order at the counter and they give you a number to place on your table and someone brings your food. You can have your root beer served in a paper cup or a glass root beer cup which I decided to do. The A&W root beer is made with real cane sugar not high fructose corn syrup, so it tasted great. We also had fries with our orders. Food was good and service was fast. We came on a Sunday afternoon. Love the retro vibes of the place with the classic A&W colors. read more

My family and I ate the Papa burger, bacon burger, grilled chicken strips, fries, vanilla shake, sodas, and root beer floats all which were tasty and delicious! Cool, retro, diner vibes make the experience worth the drive. Only one bathroom for women and men each with only one sink and one toilet. Outdated but it was clean. The food is four stars because I know it's a fast food area in a way since I was kind of hoping that the quality of their food would be just a tad bit better. The service is friendly, I think unfortunately, they were shortstaffed or seven family run business, so there was a young child behind the register, and he kind of knew what he was doing, but kind of didn't at the same time he had to seek the help of an adult lady, And unfortunately, she looked a little busy and frazzled because she was somewhat the only adult behind the counter aside from the child. The ambience is fun, lively not quiet, though, of course, but good, and the restaurant is clean as well. There is one stuff or I should say, circle stuff that comes from the kitchen area to deliver our food, and at the same time they would be cleaning up tables that needed to be looked at. My family and I drove to Boulder City from Henderson for a Friday evening meal. There is only one A & W Restaurant in the valley- so we decided to come try it out. We ordered the family cheeseburger meal which consisted of five cheeseburgers, five small fries, and a half gallon of root-bear. It's a pretty reasonable deal for $24.99. The meal was served fresh and hot. The root bear is made fresh in house using pure-cane sugar. We fed our family of five and I ordered a side of onion rings that were delicious and crispy. It's an economical way to feed a family and I recommend trying it if you haven't tried A & W. read more

What a Blast from the past! It's been off my radar so long from days living in Kailua. I recall they sold glass mugs that you would bring in and get subsidized refills. Baby Burger, Mama Burgers and Papa Burgers have been slightly edited but it's the same feeling. Cheeseburgers are a little dry, but we added extra onions and pickles. We showed up the day before Thanksgiving at 12:30 for lunch. Right during the lunch rush, right? The place was packed. The drive through was packed. We walked in and they looked at us and said "we're closed." What?! No where was there posted a "special holiday hours" sign....and again, the place was packed. So why us?
