Here I am, sharing it with you! If you're from the area, then this is just another example of how food, atmosphere, kindness, the dreams can all make the difference. Now this diner, a must visit. If you're from the local area of Nevada. The state gets truly only one season all year round. That's summer and plenty of sunshine. Once a year, this time of year, late September until January is when it's lovely to be outside. Actually go outside and not melt . They decorate and let you enjoy what fall, and parts of winter might be like here at this diner in Boulder City. Remember small town feel, this is the middle of the desert. They have a year round dedication area to 9/11. This dedicated area honors all members of Fire, Police, and other community first responders. They have special programs and specials to these individuals. This local diner has some of the best diner food that I've been the lucky individual to have. The breakfast menu is great. The sweet potato fries, mmmm! Usually the food is so good that we don't even consider dessert. You're just too full! The service is absolutely amazing. Southwest Diner is such a gem in Boulder City! Everything was absolutely delicious, and our waitress was wonderful, super attentive, friendly, and genuinely seemed to care about our experience. We really wanted to try the cinnamon roll with cream cheese frosting, but they were out. Instead of just ringing us up for the other cinnamon roll, our waitress actually came over to let us know and ask if we still wanted it. It was such a small thing, but that kind of attention to detail and consideration really stood out to me. We ordered the Kyle Burger and split it with the sweet potato fries, and WOW. The burger was amazing, and the BBQ sauce was stellar. The sweet potato fries were great too. The bathrooms were also spotless, which I always appreciate at a restaurant. And I have to mention the avocado toast. I saw someone else order it and it was an absolute showstopper. Definitely going to have to try that next time! I guess when things start getting bigger, customer service declines. Was looking forward to spending a nice lunch with my hubby, who's off for a few days, and had to pass on Southwest Diner Sunday and Monday because it was too busy. So we went today. I was so looking forward to sharing an intimate lunch with my husband at our favorite diner. When we went in our usual door, the place was empty, but the person in the front told us to go to the other room and they'll seat us. They only had a table in the middle of everyone else and I don't want to sit with others when sharing an intimate lunch. When they're full, which they were they use it for overflow anyway. Very upset about it, but trying not to show my hubby, so I'm whipping this out really quickly. Real disappointed, but I wish the place well, because the food is, or has been, really good. Still gave 4 stars because I'm not a revengeful person. Just disappointed. We could have waited but my fueling proof ended soon, so we went elsewhere. read more

I was obsessed with the Chile relleno breakfast casserole that came with wonderfully crunchy hash browns to pair with the decadently cheesy dish. Came for late lunch after Hoover Dam tour. Seated quickly, staff was friendly and attentive. Ordered the Breakfast Special #1, buddy had the Kyles Burger, and son ordered a kids cheeseburger. Breakfast Special hit the spot. Biscuits were fluffy and gravy had a great texture and flavor. Buddy liked the BBQ sauce on the Kyles, burger was cooked well and was juicy. It is spacious and nice. A vast menu accommodating breakfast, brunch, lunch, and dinner. There is a bar as well. Service was good but either forgetful or slow (due to other waitressing duties). We wound up having to get our own high chair and crayons for the child. The food was good but typical diner food. I have been to Southwest Diner a number of times over the years, just not in the last five years. Since my last visit, they took over the suite next door and expanded. Food Southwest Diner has a pretty large breakfast and lunch menu. We came right around the brunch window, so I went with breakfast. I went with the Breakfast Special #2, which is two pancakes, one egg, and bacon or sausage. I went with coffee to drink, which was served in a fun coffee cup that looks like a pot. The food was good, not great. The pancakes were the star. 3.5/5 Service The service was pretty good with as busy as they were. Staff were friendly and attentive and our drinks and food came out quickly. 4.5/5 Ambiance Southwest Diner nails the diner feel. Their expansion feels really nice and they pay tribute to Boulder City. They have a section where you can buy pies and cakes as well as other nick knacks. 4/5 Southwest Diner is definitely worth checking out. We've lived in Henderson for years and can't believe it took us this long to finally try Southwest Diner in Boulder City. After hearing so many good things over the years, we stopped in for breakfast, and we're glad we did. I ordered the Eggs Benedict, my wife had the biscuits and gravy, and our son had the kids' French toast with bacon. Everything came out hot, fresh, and generously portioned. The Eggs Benedict was excellent, my wife really enjoyed the biscuits and gravy, and our son cleaned his plate, which is always a great sign. The best part was the homemade cinnamon roll. It was absolutely delicious and definitely big enough to share. The service was friendly and attentive, and the whole restaurant had that classic hometown diner atmosphere that makes you feel welcome. When in Boulder City there's two places to try and this is definitely one of them. They do a lot of scratch based cooking and baking which really makes them stand out IMO. We ordered the corned beef hash and a corned beef Ruben, both of them were delicious. The portions were a nice size. The service was attentive. We liked eating alfresco. read more

This is a cute diner facing the main drag in Boulder City. It has a cute bakery attached with home made goodies, pies, cakes and such. Yum! Coffee comes all cozy in a little terra cotta cup. Southwest Diner is located on the corner of Fifth and Nevada Hwy. it is easy to locate and access. Limited street parking is available as well as a small private lot behind the establishment. There is patio dining available where pets are welcome. Inside has two different decors; the original side is quaint with a small town kind of feel, whereas the new (remodeled?) side is more modern and streamlined. Servers greeted us warmly upon arrival. While our party was dining, I noticed that the waitstaff greeted a handful of regulars by name. Clearly, Southwest Diner is loved by the locals!! We had a rather large party of adults and a handful of small children, but Marisol took care of us with a smile and with efficiency. The food was served in generous portions and was prepared with love and care. It's typical diner fare, nothing that we ordered was gourmet, but it was definitely familiar, hearty, comfort food. First I would like to say that I love the food and I love the service every time I go. It feels like family!! Only negative is I am so disappointed in the new pies. I tried the peach pie and it was sour and not put together very well - they don't make many of the seasonal pies they used to, especially for the summer. The apple pie was undercooked and the apples were extremely hard. It was one of my favorite places for seasonal pies, so that's why I'm disappointed. read more

This restaurant is located in Boulder City. The staff was very nice and sat us almost immediately. I had a cheeseburger and Sweet Potato Fries. The reason I just had a cheeseburger is because they didn't have the steak for the Fajita Salad or anything else made with steak or chicken. We were told that a large party had been in earlier and they used up all the steak and chicken. I definitely understood, It happens. Anyway, my cheeseburger was very good and Sweet Potato Fries as well. Great ambience. They have pies for sale and some Nik Naks. Sweet cute place. It can get crowded but today it was very quiet. We were there on a Monday so not really a lot of people in town. I give it 4 out of 5 stars because service counts a lot for me and our waitress was great. While most head down the street to a cafe featured in Triple D, they really should forgo the crowds and give this little cafe a more than a passing glance! Our server was amazing and the green Chile relleno pie was delicious. I had sourdough toast and my husband had the banana bread with our meals as well. Baked items are freshly baked and for sale if you want to take some on the go. I am looking forward to my next visit so I can try some of their homemade pie. It had been a few years since we last visited Southwest Diner, so we figured it was time to see what's new. The place has had a bit of a facelift -- expanded seating (good for them!) -- but it still has the quirky charm we always liked. Those giant canning jars they use for drinks? Instant nostalgia. My grandmother used to use jars just like that, though hers never held Coke on ice. For lunch, I went adventurous and ordered the shrimp tacos with beans and rice. Flavor? Excellent. Quantity? Let's just say I felt like I was wrestling my lunch instead of eating it. I'm all for getting my money's worth, but when a taco requires a spoon, knife, and a strategy session to conquer, it loses a bit of its taco-ness. Maybe keep the guacamole and some of the lettuce on the side so I can pretend I'm eating a handheld meal instead of deconstructing it with utensils. Just a thought. My wife, the wise one, ordered a cheeseburger with sweet potato fries. No complaints there -- she loved it. I tried a fry (and a bite of the burger, purely for research, of course) and both were spot-on delicious. Portions? Huge. If you're a "light lunch" type, maybe bring a friend to share. Service was stellar. Our waitress Susie hit that sweet spot of attentive without hovering. The bill for the two of us came to $45.08 before tip, which I found completely reasonable for the amount (and size) of food we got. Well M and I are on a short adventure...Boulder City NV. Okay, lunch, late lunch, I'll skip the why...So after rolling over a curb after whippin' an illegal u-turn I found the place to park. We walked in the other door they didn't want us to use but they seated us anyways. We walked past several umbrella covered tables, I thought it was too windy to sit out there. The patio looked like a good place to sit and dog friendly. The dining area is well suited for a very busy place, large groups or couple's would be welcomed. M ordered a Philly Cheese Steak sandwich on a thick sourdough bread, side of made fresh broccoli salad. I had no problem ordering a chicken breast club sandwich with a side of the sweet potato fries These were the best Sweet potatoes fries I had since they were invented, really. We also shared a side salad, which was mixed green leaves with grape tomatoes, no croutons please. Wow was the word when the food arrived and PDQ too. A very good meal, outstanding No disappointment here. They make in house pies and I hear a couple of them are calling us over to that display case. So M decided for us (after some deliberation) a slice of coconut cream pie to share and a peach pie to take home. Next ya know our server appeared with two slices of CC pie...ah...we took both pieces of pies. Our server later returned with a to go container and said here's your peach raspberry pie ...ah...we wanted a whole pie, that was remedied and we were out the door. Have had a few meals here, really cannot go wrong. The Philly cheesesteak is a standout. I generally tolerate but do not love mushrooms, the mushrooms on the Philly had so much flavor and were prepared to perfection- impressive. Oh and it's shaved steak that is melt in your mouth tender. Sides are fresh. Fries not greasy, salads crisp. Another standout is the fajita salad. Tender chicken bits and tons of fresh toppings. Service cannot be beat. We're local and have been here several times over the last few years. Food is usually good and service not bad. Except we had the same experience as someone a month ago with their pricing. We went during happy hour and ordered several appetizers, which were supposed to be $2 off. They bring the bill with everything full price. Plus, the full charges didn't match the menu. I asked the waitress and she's like "Yes! I was just telling the manager that you didn't get charged the happy hour price, the computers were just updated incorrectly". Brings back a new bill with $2 off the wrong prices. I point out the new error to her, she says "Yeah, the owner updated the computer but didn't get new menus yet". Like I'm supposed to just except their false advertising? Obviously they didn't just update the computer since someone had the same issue a month ago. So bottom line, check your receipts. Or better yet, try a more honest restaurant in town. The servers should be better trained on how to address these issues. It just comes across as shady business trying to wring a few extra dollars out of people who may not check their bill. Only reason for 2 stars is the server was nice and attentive, even though she was clueless about how to handle a simple customer service issue. read more
