We had gone out to Boulder City for the afternoon. We have always wanted to try this place---Well, we finally did! Great service, great food ( big servings) and great ambiance! I had the burnt ends with fries and my husband had their signature burger! Yummy! Grab the family and eat some barbecue!

Fox Smokehouse BBQ is located in Boulder City (about 45 minutes from North Las Vegas). I thought this place was a safe bet because they currently have an impressive 4.5 star average on Yelp. I also note that most BBQ restaurants that I've been to are also inconsistent. A BBQ restaurant is the very hardest of all restaurants to run because it tastes many hours to prepare the meats and then after the meats are smoked then they have to figure out on how to store the meats and keep them hot for hours to serve. Anyways we've hit Fox Smokehouse on a bad day. When you walk in on one side is a bar area and on the other side is a dining area with a salad bar (but no bbq meats and mostly just ham and lunch meat turkey). The hostess also does the take out service and might be running food out into parking lot before she seats you. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It looks like a regular BBQ Place inside. It's not fancy. It's decorated with lots of PIGS. I was expecting some Fox decorations but I could only find PIG things. They even have PIG decorations in the ladies rest room. They also have some BBQ awards on display.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They don't have the two meat combo options like most places so you have to either get a sandwich, or a platter with a half pound of meat on it. Sides are additional. I tried the bbq turkey breast with a small macaroni and cheese and a small corn. (for most people this is large enough for two and then some). I must give them credit for amazing flavors on the turkey but it was a little dry today. The corn also had very good flavor to it. But they can win a prize for maybe The WORST macaroni and cheese on the planet. EEEEEEEEEK if was awful. This macaroni and cheese could only have been created by a toddler. It was like mushy pasta mixed with something like Velveeta with BIG LUMPS of real cheese that didn't melt in and BIG LUMPS OF BURNT CHEESE. BLECH! My husband unfortunately tried a Pulled Pork Platter. The poor pig died in vain. They served pulled pork that was SO DRY THAT YOU COULD USE IT AS DENTAL FLOSS. (boy was he mad that I suggested this place on our day trip to Boulder City) I cannot recommend Fox Smokehouse BBQ.

Stopped in on a day trip from Arizona and we were craving Bbq. We were seated immediately and our waitress was attentive and asking us what we wanted to drink right away . I ordered brisket tacos with mac and cheese on the side and hubby ordered pulled pork sandwich, and a side of okra. He loved the okra and said his pulled pork sandwich was good but a little bit on the dry side. My tacos were fantastic but I did not care much for the mac and cheese. It was so mushy . We need to come back and try other options !

On our way back from kayaking at Willow Beach, we stopped by Fox Smokehouse BBQ on the recommendation of Chris from Colorado River Kayak Tour. The food and service were fantastic. Good value. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Love the pig motif.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Fox Smokehouse is on a corner street. There is about 10-15 parking spots around the building, and the rest is street parking. There might have been additional parking, but I didn't see it immediately. They have a pub area and a dining area--separated by a thoroughfare. We arrived at around 12:55pm on a Saturday and were seated within 5-7 minutes. The dining room was pretty full except for 3-4 open tables. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The vibe is somewhere between an upscale dive bar meets tavern lodge. I liked it a lot.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We ordered drinks and my usual is an iced tea, however, it tasted like water. Super disappointed for a bbq place, but moving on to what matters most....the food. They have everything you could think of to meat plates with sides, all types of burgers and sandwiches, salads, deserts, wings, and a kids menu. The meat plates and sides are à la carte. There didn't appear to be a go-to variety plate with everything included, so just be aware of the individual prices if that's a concern. Each of the à la carte plates come with your chosen meat/protein (1/2 lb) and you can choose à la carte your sides and à la carte bread options (corn bread, Texas toast, biscuits). I ordered the brisket with okra and the cowboy mash up which is half macaroni & cheese and half beans, and a side of cornbread. The sides were a bit small (4oz, approximately), but it was really good. The okra was crisp and not greasy. The server recommended ranch and a fry sauce to go on top and it was delicious. The cowboy mashup was okay; the macaroni & cheese was flavorful, but the beans were just "ehhh". I'm not sure what I was expecting. The brisket......Ahhhhhhhhh--mazing. It was moist and flavorful and you don't even need but to pull it gently from your fork and it just comes off. Sooo good. I highly recommend the brisket, hands down. I couldn't finish everything so to-go boxes were given and they also gave smaller containers for the sides and any bbq sauce you might want to take for your food, as well.

3.5 I have always loved American BBQ. I'm very particular about what I enjoy and expect about BBQ: Pro's: Excellent service. BBQ chicken marinade was good. Coleslaw fresh. Cowboy beans EXCELLENT. Con's: All the food arrived lukewarm. The collard greens and chicken too were lukewarm when they should have been hot. That really spoiled the overall experience. Lukewarm chicken does not appeal to me. Flavour-wise was on point. Understand that the pitmaster can't be at the grill all the time, but lukewarm collard greens too were disappointing because they were not hot - and it's usually one of my favourite vegetables in the South. I purchased their chicken seasoning because I loved the blend. The food overall is good, but I prefer food that is served hot. My personal preference. Pricing was fair.

Finally got a chance to eat in instead of take out. I can honestly tell you eating in is much preferred over takeout any day. When you can get fresh brisket over takeout which is not ate immediately when served is not the way to go. This is the best brisket I've had so far in southern nevada. The brisket was fork tender and very juicy and moist with great flavour. I will definitely go out of my way to come here for brisket until I can find somewhere else in las vegas for great brisket, so fat this is by far the best I have had other than what I've had in richardson texas and that's a long drive or long plane flight away.

It's a very solid bbq joint for sure. I loved the "burn ends"!!!! It's flavorful and tender. Get it!!! We also got St Louis baby back rib and brisket. The rib is good but I thought it's a bit on the sweet side which I think it's overkill. For meats, of you chill out well, you didn't need to drown your meat in sweet sauce. The brisket is kind of average. For the collard greens as a side, it's not bad but it needs more fat to cook it. The restaurant is rustic full with country charm, a fun place to be. I'll definitely come back for the burn ends. One thing to now is that everything is on the salty side. Just be mindful of it.

What an amazing little place to grab a bite to eat after seeing Hoover Dam. Quiet and clean the bartender was so sweet helped us order a pork sandwich plate to share and she even asked if we wanted more pork. Highly recommend this restaurant.

Take the drive.. Just do it. The portions are enormous. The flavor is out of this world We had so many leftovers! Grab the greens. Our waitress gave us the rundown on the menu. I've never been to Texas but this is what I imagined the food would be like . [[HIGHLIGHT]]Loved the decor, felt like home[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Is our dog allowed to sit with us on the patio?

Hi Amanda, unfortunately we do not and our patio is closed at this time. Only service dogs on a leash and must be kept under the table.

Do they take reservations? or can I just walk in?

Just walk in - they'll ask you "restaurant or bar" for sitting . Usually not too busy unless it's…

As many who have been to Boulder City know, they roll up the sidewalks pretty early at night and although it's a delightful town, there's only a short list of things to do once the sun goes down. That said, after a 12 hour workday in the desert heat, the things I could count on was the quick walk, cheap drinks and the friendly conversations that can be found at Maxx's bar. I've been here a couple times now this week already, but tonight I stopped by after 12 hours in the sun, a Panda Bowl and a shower to grab a few drinks. As I walked down the street I could hear loud music playing and figured they just had the speakers up more than usual, but as I walked up I noticed a singer on the patio. He was singing some classics from my days, but with a raegae twist and it was quite pleasant to hear and see, especially alongside the crowd having fun outside. I really appreciate the fact that they have live music on Wednesdays. I walked in and parked my awkward butt on a barstool and was welcomed in by Kristen. She asked me what I'd like and she quickly served me my order. It felt nice being an outsider in the community, but still feeling welcomed and I was fortunate to be able to share a casual conversation with Kristen. Throughout the evening, she was very attentive and kept the beverages flowing while also tending to patrons both inside as well as on the patio enjoying the live music. This is obviously a bar with quite a few regulars, but that's what I love about bars back home and it made me feel very welcome. I enjoyed watching some game highlights on TV and took the time to catch up on emails and texts from earlier in the day. All around, this is a fantastic bar to stop by whether you're passing through or staying in town for a few days. As someone who appreciates consistency and routine, I definitely hope to be back soon and enjoy another relaxing evening at Maxx's. Two thumbs up for Kristen and the Maxx's team!

The hash browns had a really nice crunch and good seasoning. The egg was cooked perfectly with a nice runny yolk. The cheese added some gooey texture, a little salt, and a bit of bite, while the peppers added a nice crunch to each bite. The pico also added a bright, fresh texture to the dish. The Pork Verde was beautiful, with great spice and juiciness, tender yet with a good chew. The entire dish works well together, and it was hard to stop eating it. I also sampled their biscuit with homemade gravy. The biscuit was light and airy with great texture, chew, and flavor. It was buttery and fresh. The gravy was seasoned really well, with big chunks of well-seasoned sausage that weren't overpowering, along with sage and other seasonings. The gravy was thick enough to stand up in its own, but not so thick that it had the consistency of glue. Perfect, flavorful, and amazing are about the only ways I could describe it. My wife had the B.L.T.E. on sourdough with home fries. This sandwich is served with bacon, lettuce, tomato, and egg. The sourdough was thick-cut and lightly toasted, with a light flavor, crunch, and great chew. The lettuce and tomato were fresh, bright, and both had a great texture. The eggs were well fried and seasoned. The bacon was medium-thick, cooked to perfection with crunch, chew, and a great salty flavor. The home fries came in a huge portion, were well seasoned, but were undercooked and had an unwanted crunch. They also came with grilled onions, which tasted good, but I'm not sure why they were put on top of the potatoes rather than cooked along with them. Coffee Cup has a full menu for both breakfast and lunch. They serve loads of burgers, wraps, sandwiches, plate meals, burritos, omelets, diner classics, and sides. They have a full bar and serve beer. The staff was extremely nice, and the service and food were quick. The Fat Man says that The Coffee Cup Cafe is Fat Man Approved with 3 chins.

This review is based on three separate visits and each visit's order was for two people (i.e. two…read moremeals). Wait Time: Between all three visits, there was an average wait time of 20-30 minutes. When we arrived to the window to pay on our first visit, we were told to take a lap around the drive-thru and that our order would be ready upon our return. It turned out we arrived to the window and waited about 20 minutes before we received our order. Order: With the wait time in mind, please remember that Rome wasn't built in a day--so don't expect a quality meal to be ready within five minutes. With that being said, we ordered the 1). double cheeseburger with fries, 2). crispy chicken sandwich with fries, 3). fish and chips, 4). chicken tenders, 5). a strawberry shake, and 6). a chocolate shake between our three visits. The quality across all three visits was consistent and detailed here: 1). The Double Cheeseburger was cooked to our doneness preference. The bun was toasted with light butter and a slight crunch to the bite. The patties were juicy and well-seasoned. The cheese was evenly melted on the patties. The condiments did not overpower the patties' flavor. The toppings were the standard lettuce, tomato, and onions--which worked harmoniously with the rest of the burger, making for one of the best burgers I have ever had. Upon first glance, it meets my expectations of what a burger should be. 2). Much like the Double Cheeseburger, the Crispy Chicken Sandwich was of excellent quality. All of its components worked collectively to deliver in flavor and texture, including the toasted bun with the slight crunch. It was a perfect Crispy Chicken Sandwich. 3). The Fries were flavorful (fry seasoning, salt), crinkle cut, and evenly fried throughout (i.e. you did not have some hard pieces and some soggy pieces). We recommend a side of ranch for dipping. 4). The Fish and Chips were your standard Fish and Chips--and I mean that in the best way. They were fried until the classic golden and served with tartar sauce. Again, everything you would expect out of Fish and Chips. 5). While the Chicken Tenders were good, they were not outstanding. We would not order them again due to the other superior items on the menu. 6). The Strawberry Shake was flavored with fresh strawberries and like the Chicken Tenders, it was not outstanding. The Chocolate Shake was a classic Chocolate Shake. If you are craving a shake, then go for it. Otherwise, there isn't anything that would separate these shakes from another good quality shake. Both shakes leaned toward a thicker consistency. Note: The medium sized shakes are huge. If we ever get one again in the future, we will order a small instead. Service: We felt welcomed during each visit and did not feel rushed at the intercom (all three of our visits were through the drive-thru). Prior to visiting, we were unsure of what to expect with the mixed reviews and ultimately decided that we would just find out for ourselves. We are so grateful that we made the choice to try Chilly Jilly'z, because it is now one of our favorite spots in Southern Nevada. We definitely recommend that you give it a try!

We came today (not knowing if the change) and had to sit outside in over 100 degrees. It looks like they have some sort of outdoor AC setup , but it was not running. The chairs and tables as a result are scalding hot. This makes chilly jilly unvisitable unless you're taking it to go, or it's winter/fall. Which is a shame, because their food and treats are so good
