This is a great place to stop on your way on M25. This is an "old school" A&W with car hop service. Plenty of parking with both indoor and outdoor dining options. The staff is very friendly and the restaurant and grounds are spotless. Food is good and prices are modest. read more

First time going to A&W and will be the last. Ordered a double cheeseburger and got a mushroom Swiss. The fries were warm but oddly hard, like maybe they'd been sitting in the fryer area for a little bit. Food was also insanely salty. Word of warning to everyone, check your receipt when you order a "combo". The foods not bad but they are overcharging. If you order a combo they charge full price and then give you a combo discount. Slowwwwwww, is the best way to describe this place. Typical A&W decent fast food, sweet chilli unlike the typical and best chilli which is Detroit's original coney. Not too many chains up this way so I'll take it, just can not figure out for the life of me why service up here is always so slow. Very nice girl that took our order! We ate inside. Even if you're getting it To Go, you must seat yourself! At least that's what we read at the entrance. Someone will eventually make their way to you! Looks like if you just stay in your car, they'll approach you also. Lexington is my secret getaway when I yearn for the autumn in New England, or a glimpse of a West Coast seaside town. Drive an hour and end up in another world where the pounding waves of Lake Huron meet the curving boardwalk, the pace of life is quieter, and the holiday spirit lasts well after Detroiters return to their suburbs and leave the B&Bs quiet. Something in the charm of this place encapsulates the Michigan promised in the Pure Michigan campaigns, those billboards actually showing a slice of the real community here. A&W is part of that slower, timelier feel. Of course, it serves up some delicious hamburgers and onion rings that throw me right back to childhood treats with my dad. Breading on golden onions is a surefire way to bring a smile to my face. But pulling in here to have a quick bite before heading back to the city or further up the Thumb is a unique experience. The restaurant encourages a certain nostalgia or the feeling of getting away without being a bank breaking experience. Part of that comes from the layout, which hints at the old drive-ins that once existed all over the place. You can practically pull up to the patio on the summer. Gotta love being able to hop out and sit ten feet from your bumper with a swirl cone and smiles all around. Even if you're smiling with your dog -- there seem to be a lot of happy pups here in the busy summer months. Inside though, it's a really tidy restaurant served by smiling staff. When I last visited, they had a local paper with ongoing events that seem a world away from my helter-skelter existence in downtown Detroit to work, and I really love the support they show for the local community and ongoing events. Lexington has two seasons: tourist and not-tourist, and you can really have a sense for small town living here if you know where to look. The food is bog standard A&W: tasty, piping hot, delivered quick. Excellent floats and crispy onion rings, fat burgers flattened a little in their foil wrappers waiting to be devoured. Excellent service and scrumptious morsels make this fast-food the way it should be. The only drawbacks for me here came in the small parking lot that can quickly overflow at peak season. It can be hard to get in and get out for an order come the summer. Staff work hard with what they've got. VERDICT: 4.5 stars read more

5 stars right off the bat for great service! The staff is always very nice, and efficient! Food is solid. Always hot, made correctly, and served with a smile! The Hubs and I usually make this our Friday night stop on the way to the cottage. It can be pretty busy at peek times, but don't let that scare you away. Very disappointed this trip got our food to go - got to park and no napkins no straws fries like rubber(waited over 20 minutes) and in kids meal paper to get cone for dessert (use by end of July) no catsup for fries have ate there many years and will not be back or recomend to anyone read more

A walk down Memory Lane! We stopped on our way from Lake Huron Campground to Virginia. We have made this run a few times but never had the opportunity to stop. We finally stopped on our way out and were very pleased that we did. The staff was very nice and on top of getting patrons seated quickly. The orders were taken within minutes although the place was pretty packed. Drinks and food came out shortly after and tasted as I remembered during my youth in California. Food was hot and fresh. The A & W Float was as large as I remember, and tasted superb. Highly recommend making the effort to stop when you pass by. read more

Enjoyed a great family summer lunch. Wait staff was friendly and service was fast and great.

My wife and I stopped there for a root beer and snack on July 5th. We've been very hesitant to dine out, even just for a snack, since restaurants were allowed to re-open back in early June. We love A&W, and thought this would be "safe" since we could stay right in our car. While the drinks and snack were good- we were very concerned that our server was NOT wearing a mask- which is required in food establishments whether indoor or outdoor. While most of the servers we saw were wearing masks, several were not, and NONE of the servers were wearing gloves- also required. Very disappointing that this business is not enforcing current regulations for the health and safety of both their customers and staff. Unfortunately we will be hesitant to stop here again until we know all health regulations are being enforced. read more

I think it is very strange that to order a glass of soda I MUST order from a waitress, that I am not allowed to walk up to the counter that they do have.
