I drove all the way to Rhode Island since this is the nearest A&W and I wanted their pumpkin pie shake. It's a good shake. Good pumpkin, not too much spice. They have outdoor seating and actually offer waitress service at the outdoor seating. But since we had our dogs - we had to sit at the outdoor tables that were NOT under cover. The burgers were typical fast food. Nothing special. Next time I'll order at the window and pick up my own food to save myself the tip.

Started off the RIFoodFights WienerFest this Month at A&W, because not much is open on the holiday. We were also trying Chepatchet Deli, who did not indicate they were closed on their FB page but they were... Let's just say that A&W probably is not going to win our vote this year. And probably not yours either. The young ladies that work there are very nice though.very good service. Everything came out super fast. Probably because it was sitting there. The wieners were tasteless and bland, and actually more like cold wieners than hot wieners. The onion rings followed suit by being tasteless, a little crunchy though. The vanilla milkshake was basically vanilla milk. No evidence of ice cream or any thickening agent whatsoever being added to it. Overall, very disappointing. I wasn't expecting anything spectacular but I expected average at least.

Service is quick and the girls are always so nice/friendly. This is a cash only spot so to avoid ATM fees make sure you grab cash before coming here. Outside seating only so watch for weather ! It was a little chilly when we came but still enjoyable. A bit over priced BUT you get what you pay for.. they make up for it in quality and quantity (large portions, everything is cooked to order, fresh and delicious!)

So I never tried A&W and I was craving a burger so I stopped by. First off they are cash only - sometimes this is good because you think it will be a little cheaper - wrong assumption. Next they promote their onion rings- bad decision- 5$ and they are flimsy and greasy and in pieces! The mushroom cheeseburger was greasy and soggy! And to be honest there was no flavor. The two came to 16$ and change and wasn't the best. Wendy's definitely beats this place. But the service was nice and she had a great smile. But overall thanks for the one visit.

I stopped here today because I haven't seen an A&W in 30 years!! So classic, tray on the window, waitress comes to the car. Our waitress was Alyssa an absolute doll and she was the best part of the experience. The food is ok but it's a little over priced. Solid 4 stars!

It's a fun spot if you are feeling nostalgic but with that in mind I don't think the recipes or menu has changed in the past 100 years. My last visit wasn't so pleasant as I felt the employee was trying to rush me through my order and just wasn't listening to my order but pretty happy with the root beer floats! Pro tip: Get chili cheese fries. Add then on top of your burger. You can thank me later.

An classic old style A & W !!!! Turn on your lights as your car pulls in and a server comes to the driver's window for car service. Our server was very polite patient, and professional. Want an old style very cold mug with frost on the glass? They have them for dine it, and for purchase. They also have homemade onion rings. There are other less common sides including clams and corn dog bites. For those who want something other than a car dinning experience, there are picnic benches in a covered area. These are close to the bathrooms. The parking lot has more than ample parking. We loved our classic root beer floats, homemade onion rings, hot dogs and corn dog bites. We will be back ! That says a lot as we drive a good distance from Massachusetts to Rhode Island to this pleasure. So for some classic old time fun and food try the Smithfield A & W !

I've seen on social media that people complained about the new location having mainly street parking - we both found parking easily on the street - quit yer b*tchin' people lol. Besides I believe they have a lot behind the restaurant that we didn't have to use but it's there if needed. We were the only ones there when we first walked in but more patrons came in as the night went on. Made our way to the bar and orders were flowing - one warning if you're sitting at the bar, it is an open kitchen so there will be alot of aromas flowing through and may get on your clothes but really it'll just remind you of how good the food was. Also, the barstools are not the most comfy - metal stools with no backing so after 2.5 hours, we were feeling a bit achy. We ordered way more than we should've but everything just looked so good! We got the croquettes (our absolute fave), the cauliflower, the pizza du jour (I think it had spinach, pepperoni, ricotta and garlic) and for entrees we got the fish tacos and the Orecchiette. Not one complaint - everything was divine. Croquettes were melty, smoky little nuggets of heaven and our favorites bites of the night. The pizza had a great balance of flavors and the crust was thin and crispy. We were so full but had a few bites of the fish tacos and pasta - the fish was cooked to perfection and the aioli it came with topped it perfectly. Pasta was different - had a scallion cream sauce that was a nice change up from your typical Alfredo. Don't sleep on this place - the street is busy being on a main road but so well worth the visit, I didn't catch our bartender's name but he and a few other servers were super personable and friendly - gave us just enough time in between meals and personal space to not hover. Absolutely will return!

The Orchard Grill always disappoints:…read more The place is a mishmash of furniture from different periods in the buildings history, there's a section of cafe seating and booths. Its fine and seemed relatively clean. For this visit, we arrived about 9AM early in the work week, the restaurant was at about 20-25% capacity. There were 3 waitstaff on the floor and one showed up shortly after we were seated, this brought the total number of servers to 4. The staff immediately seemed put upon by our presence. I usually try to seem more friendly when I am confronted with folks like this, but they would have none of it. My friendly smiles were met with blank stares. Once we were seated, the drink question was asked of us. But the staffer was multi tasking, and when we responded, it was acknowledged as if we'd rudely interupted them. Further interactions went similarly. Our food arrived on the slow side but in a reasonable amount of time. The waffle was fluffy and crisp, the pancake thick and on the dry, soft, cakey end of the spectrum, (vs thin, buttery and crisp). Fruit was your standard food distributor pre-cut variety of melon, red grapes and pineapple, the same stuff you get at the supermarket. My scrambled eggs were overcooked, dry and rubbery but I have had worse. Bacon was similarly dry, probably reheated, not cooked to order. Italian toast was from a real Italian loaf, thin but decent. Homefries were pretty good. Once the food arrived, no one came by the table again to check on things until well after we'd finished eating. I initially thought there were no refills on the weak coffee until I heard an adjacent table being offered a refill. We were never asked if we needed anything else, or if the food was okay. That said, the food at the Orchard Grill isn't bad, it's just mediocre.. Paired with the bare minimum of unfriendly service, it was just not worth the 40+ dollars for the adult and two kids meals. Waitstaff treat you like a task, not like patrons, not like people seeking a positive experience. At the Orchard Grill you are an obstacle to be oveecome with the very smallest amount of effort you can get away with without seeming overtly hostile.
