The restaurant has a wonderful vibe and extensive menu. Lilly was our server and right from the start she was amazing. She was friendly and very communicative. When the bottle of wine we ordered wasn't in stock, she apologized and gave us options. We had no issue at all. The manager came to our table as well and apologized. The food was so delicious! We had an incredible experience at Blackie's. The food was absolutely phenomenal from start to finish. We started with the Chicken Marsala Stuffed Mushrooms, which were packed with rich, savory flavor. I ordered the 'Shroomy Grilled Cheese, and it was next-level comfort food; gooey, earthy, and perfectly balanced. My husband and aunt both had the New School Smash Burger, and they couldn't stop raving about it. Every dish was bursting with flavor and truly "to die for." Our server, David, made the night even better. He was attentive, upbeat, and genuinely kind; an overall great spirit with a fantastic attitude who elevated the entire dining experience. I truly don't understand this place after eating here a few times. It is always packed ... the parking lot literally looks like a shopping mall with cars parked along the street. It has almost a cult-like following after reading the reviews. In my experience, everything I have ordered was okay ... but nothing incredibly amazing vs. the price. I have not seen higher menu prices outside of Manhattan. Two sandwiches and one beer came to $78 after the tip. You read that correctly ... a burger with fries, a pulled pork sandwich with side salad and the cheapest draft beer on the menu ... $78!!! The wings/tenders were over $20 ... in fact, other than the side upgrades, nothing on the menu was under $20. If you are charging $25 for a 'diner burger' and fries, it better be an amazing burger. Mine was no better than Five Guys and less tasty than a Shake Shack. Given the prices, one wouldn't expect that you'd get potato chips with your burger. In order to get French fries ... it's a $5 upcharge. A side salad is $9. I don't mind paying more for quality ... and Blackie's quality is probably high as their meats, vegetables, potatoes, etc. all list the origin place. However high the quality is, for me anyways, the food doesn't seem much different taste-wise, than anywhere else that is much less expensive. Having said that, the portions are huge. The nachos look like they are meant for an entire table and everything is served on metal cafeteria-style trays. Good for them though because the place is huge and always packed. The crowd here is very typical 'Rhode Island'. Expect to see a lot of anchor tattoos, lifted Jeeps with no doors in the parking lot, young 20 - 40 year old crowd who probably played high school football or baseball back in the day and still enjoy telling stories about it. There are no shortage of cross-fitters here. There is a nice buzz of conversation and energy ... but this is not the place you want to go if you don't like crowds. Inside is weird. The walls are painted black and the chairs/tables look like something in a boutique hotel. It looks a little more like a corporate hotel lobby or wedding function hall vs. a restaurant ... especially given the typical crowd. This is not the sports bar it appears to be on the outside. Overall, my 3-stars may seem harsh. But that's an average score ... and honestly, my food has always been average. Maybe I need to try the pizza. If you have deep pockets and like huge portions, you probably won't be disappointed in this place. The service is great, although 2 people working a packed bar, you will wait a bit if you need anything. Hubby wanted steak, son wanted wings, pizza, other things and I had on my Fat girl eyes and just wanted all the things. I was torn on the wing flavor and the waitress (who was a F***ing riot by the way, I Love her)! suggested the maple, I didnt Love love them, but they were good. The pizza was ok, could have been cooked like a moment more. The Shroomy grilled cheese for me was the best thing on the menu. Hubby said the steak was just meh, but he is fancy, we take his reviews with a grain of salt, LOL... The decor and vibe of the place was great! I am addicted to their carnitas bowl, which is honestly an item they should have all year, but they usually only offer it seasonally during the summer. It's honestly one of my favorite dishes ever, and at this point I go back just to get that. The drinks are still great as well! Location: This location continues to be perfect for a day out or a special occasion, and it's also great to go with your family. It gives more of a business-casual vibe, and there are different types of people and some dress up and some dress casually. They do have private parking, and they also offer valet service. Service: I have given it them 5 in the past to a 4 now. The service is okay. I'm doing an updated review because I've honestly had great experiences when I do takeout, but I've eaten here at least three more times inside the restaurant. Although some of the waiters are nice and helpful, some haven't been the most friendly, like the last time we went. Our waitress came off a bit rude at times. The wait time is actually insane, which I think is the biggest issue. If I ever come back it will honestly be to pick up a carnitas bowl to go. Every single time we've eaten inside the restaurant, the wait time has been over 45 minutes to an hour, and the last time some of the food took over an hour to come to our table, which was extremely disappointing. The restaurant didn't even seem as full and we asked our waitress and she was a bit rude about it which threw us off. I'd do take out for sure but I may think twice before coming in person. I just attended a grad party here and was blown away by the quality of the food and service. Typically it's hard to pull off a successful buffet spread while keeping everything PIPING hot and they did so with ease. The grad herself said that the staff was super helpful in curating a menu. They even printed it out with her name and placed it on the bar. The buffalo chicken dip, bruschetta, burger rangoons, pizzas, and ANY of their sliders/sammies were so good. I've been to Blackies a handful of times, always hoping it'll improve, and always dissapointed. Food is usually good but service is bottom of the barrel, every single time, drinks left empty, food delays, incorrect food once it eventually comes. Today a few coworkers decided to order take out there, I figured take out would be safe.... of the 7 people 5 ordered burgers or sandwiches and got no fries/ chips/ sides. So $19-$26 for a mediocre burger... not sure how all 5 orders were missing the chips or fries the menu said were included. But we were all thoroughly disappointed. I figured take out would be safe because there was no waiter/ waitress to forget the drinks, food, etc. Apparently they cant get take out right either. Can't tell you how the burger is, it wasn't cut in half and I was in office with no utensils, so hopefully I can salvage it later. But $25 ... for probably $5 worth of ingredients poorly assembled. We went in for pizza at 3 PM to avoid the dinner crowd because Blackie's can get busy quickly. The service was excellent, we were seated immediately and our water classes were always full. I ordered the Zab's Wicked Hot Cousin without the hot honey. The dough is a light, fluffy, thin crust that has nice pull to it as you bite it. If you like lots of cheese and topping, this is it. Very good pepperoni and the fermented chilies were a perfect match for me. I usually order cherry peppers on my pizza, but these were way better...no stems with all the flavor. The cheese was super stretchy and full of flavor with all of that cup and Charred pepperoni. I was lucky enough to take 2 slices home and they reheated perfectly! Arrived following noon service to a packed parking lot and packed dining room. Sat at a high top and immediately noticed no purse hangers, wobbly table, mild draft. We had at least 4 menus to look through...and no one announced the specials (they did at the family tables next to us) the steak was cooked well, way too many fried onions, and the demi glaze tasted like watered down bbq sauce. The fish sandwich was good except the tomato added unnecessary acid and the bun fell apart (too much aioli or old bread). Our server was pleasant and agreed purse hooks are a must! This was my first time back at Blackie's since they reopened. I wasn't sure exactly what to expect but I have friends who really like it so I had high hopes. First let me say it is a beautiful restaurant and the outside patio is lovely. The menu has a lot of options but when I go to a restaurant I don't want to be reading a menu like a book or have to try to figure out what goes with what. Some people may like that but it doesn't work for me. My friends wanted the pulled pork nachos for a starter and they were so good. After reading the menu I chose a sandwich that had everything I like. I asked the server, who by the way was just terrific, if I could have it without the bread. She said that they don't allow that so I ordered it anyway and just took everything off the bread and left it on the plate. If that's their management decision so be it. Inside, the aesthetic continues its war on mediocrity. Stone walls meet distressed wood paneling. Artful lighting casting just the right glow over marble tabletops and modern, artsy, seating. The place feels expensive and calculated, with considered design where every weathered plank and pendant light has been placed with Instagram worthiness in mind. The dining room fills up fast. Locals know something tourists don't. Two fancy Italian pizza ovens loom large behind us in the beautiful dining area with the equally fancy bar in front of us. Their pepperoni pizza arrives on a wooden board, a 14-inch circle of potential greatness. First visual impression: beautiful. The kind of pie that food photographers wish for. But we eat with our mouths, not our eyes. The first slice pulled away from the pie reveals a crust that defies expectation. It's remarkably light, almost airy, overwhelmed toward the center, with a structure that grows more substantial as you reach the perimeter. The flavor is distinctive, pleasant, with an agreeable chew that speaks of proper fermentation and good flour. This is a seriously considered pizza dough. Someone in the kitchen understands bread. But then comes the problem. The sauce, applied with such restraint that you might question whether they ran out halfway through prep, gets absolutely bulldozed by a tsunami of cheese. This dairy avalanche dominates every bite, turning what should be a symphony into a one-note song. The pepperoni, while abundant, contributes almost nothing to the equation. It exists merely as decoration, its flavor lost beneath the blanket of mozzarella excess. The service at Blackie's runs with remarkable precision. Water glasses never empty. Questions find immediate answers. Needs are anticipated rather than responded to. This is professional hospitality at work, the kind that makes you feel simultaneously cared for and not spied on. In the end, Blackie's aesthetic speaks of culinary ambition and careful planning. The service is ready to support a serious dining destination. But the pizza, at least, falls victim to the most basic of errors: imbalance. Too much of one thing, not enough of the others. Would I return? Absolutely. I've been going here since before they moved to their present location. I dine out frequently and started going more frequently since moving to Lincoln and usually sit at the bar. The last several visits the service has been terrible, the food not up to par, more expensive and usually arrives with error. I've felt virtually invisible at the bar waiting an inordinate amount of time to be recognized and approached. This place is incredible. I've tried something new everytime i've come and it's only made me want to come back asap. The summer jam crostini is to DIE FOR, i've never had anything like it, the ricotta is amazing, it's toasted perfect, the jam is flavorful. The hot honey ties it together. It's so perfect and a must try Caesar salad french fry appetizer is so yummy, they have a perfect dressing, the fries are so different but it works so well, the chicken on it is perfect. Definitely a good thing to share with the table or eat as your meal The cheeseburger rangoons are okay! They are really crunchy and kind of hard to eat, but the flavor is very good, and it has fries in it which is so different. If you come here you HAVE to get the carrot cake, I can't stop thinking about it. It's delicious. The cream on the top, with the ice cream and the moist cake. Tried Blackie's on a Saturday early evening and was able to get seated promptly even without a reservation. Greeted by very warm and friendly staff and the ambiance of the restaurant was just so pleasant. They have outdoor seating as well but we opted for inside to get a true feel of the atmosphere. They have a large area for fire cooked pizzas which we can't wait to try another time as we ordered pullled pork sandwich and steak & shrimp dish. Food was very fresh and delicious! I love this place because of their respect to allergens. It seems that they are very educated. I personally don't have allergies but my son has peanut/treenuts and would feel comfortable with him dining here. Make reservations! It books up quickly. It was extremely busy. We were seated pretty promptly but it took quite awhile to get food. Maybe order apps and food at same time to speed it along if you have time constraints. The print on the menu is pretty small and my elderly mom forgot her readers. The waitress was kind enough to offer some but never brought them. To be fair it was busy and I think she forgot. I ended up going to the front myself and asking. We spent quite a lot of time waiting and she couldn't read menu (it was rather small print). Menu is pretty large, they have a ton of choices. It was early and I wasn't super hungry so I just opted for the plain old steak/cheese with hand cut fries. I am going to be painfully honest- D'Angelo's is better. I think it was $18 and I upgraded to fries for an additional $4. My mom had grilled chicken and sweet potatoe wedges (around $17). Glass of wine was reasonable (12) and dessert a little pricey ($12 for a slice of cheesecake). This place is crowded, noisy. I'd say good for groups but not good for a date or if you want a quiet meal. It's mediocre food and definitely overpriced. $18 for 4 stuffed mushrooms is insane when you can go to Trattoria Romana in Lincoln and get more for your $. Overall it's just okay. I might return with my son who has food allergies but Bettola is Cranston is good for that as well but larger portions, more reasonable prices, and overall better experience. read more

We've heard good things about Blackies but hadn't had a chance to go until tonight. Unfortunately, it did not live up to the hype and made for a surprisingly poor dining experience. One side of the restaurant seemed to be lively and have great atmosphere on a Saturday night. The other side, where we were seated, did not. It took more than a few minutes to be greeted by our server, and when ordering drinks, my husband ordered a draft beer from the menu, only to be told that they hadn't started serving that beer yet and were still trying to get rid of their summer ale (it's mid-October). Our appetizer sounded great but was a bit underwhelming as it was just a handful of pepperoni slices and dipping sauce. It didn't do much to hold us over for the 50 minutes we waited for our entrees to come out. The restaurant was busy, but given the amount of cars we see whenever we drive by, this was a pretty regular night for them. My burger was average and had an over-toasted bun, although my husband enjoyed his pasta dish despite the $11 up-charge to add grilled chicken (a price which we do not recall seeing noted on the menu). The entire menu feels a bit overpriced, which makes our subpar dining experience all the more disappointing. Met up with some friends, from MeetUp. I've never been to Blackie's before. Pretty cool place! There's lots of different kinds of seating options; booths with tables, lounge chairs around a round circle coffee-table, very relaxing looking, and of course your standard table and chairs. The menu is extensive and bound in soft leather, it's the small things, right?! A wine and beer menu and then a separate cocktail menu. The food menu has about anything you can imagine to satisfy anyone; from fish and seafood, to beef, pork and chicken and lots of healthy vegan and vegetarian selections. The thought that goes into each dish is definitely a window into the passion of the chef and staff. Beautifully and carefully prepared. The ingredient combinations are so very interesting and work excellent together! Our waitress, Brittany T, was very accommodating and patient with our large table. Bless her!! Thank you so much Brittany! I ordered a classic handheld, a Reuben. It was sooo good! Buttery, crunchy marble rye with Swiss, sauerkraut, 1000 island, and my favorite part, chopped corned beef!! We've now gotten take out here twice. Everything we have ordered has been delicious! The food and drinks are always great (my margarita was perfect), but what really got me was that the staff and owners actually remembered my son's egg allergy from a past visit. They made sure everything was safe, and checked in like they genuinely cared. You don't see that kind of attention much anymore. But, well worth it if you like excellent food, a beautiful outdoor patio with firepit and games, and phenomenal service. Plus they have GF, DF, and take allergies very seriously. They also source the best clean and local ingredients to create an outstanding menu. We came here on a Saturday evening with friends who frequent this restaurant quite a bit since they live fairly close. We also came for the one a month night they call "Blackie's after dark" for dancing. Get out your dancing shoes because this place was Lit! Ambiance: I honestly did not know what to expect at first, but when we pulled up to the restaurant it was packed and knew it was going to be a great night. When we walked in I could not believe my eyes, I kept on saying how gorgeous this restaurant was. It was like a resort! Friendliness: The hostess stand had a few smiling and exciting faces waiting for guests to arrive and to seat you. They were able to move our reservations to an earlier time which was great. Plus, we were seated not too far from where the DJ would be so we could listen to some music while eating. And, secure our spot on the dance floor. Food: Everything was lovely! Our server was fantastic and super kind and offered suggestions. I had thier Sole Piccata which was delicious. The portions are big so some dishes you could split. My husband had one of their sandwiches and our friends had other dishes that also looked quite good. We also ordered the Justin Isosceles Cabernet which I had before and wanted to order a bottle for the table. Everyone loved it! Overall impressions: After eating we made our way to the fireplace and enjoyed some wine and conversations until it was time to get up and dance. We all danced our heart out until midnight. The DJ was great, playing hits from the 80s, 90s and then going into some latin music. We had the best time and we know we will be back soon. So sad to write this review because we have had good experiences. Went for a celebration. The person celebrating their birthday was offered dessert. We ordered two more. Check had not arrived and the fire alarm went off and we were told to leave the restaurant. Server brought our check outside which was over $300. We all had several bites left of our dessert but we were not allowed back in, despite being told this was only a drill. When I got home I noticed we were charged for the birthday persons dessert.
