We went in to eat, waited over ten minutes to have our order taken and told they would try to get our root beers to us before our food. It was moderately busy. Although the waiter did go around with a pitcher of root beer to refill other customers drinks. My husband had a double cheeseburger and cheese curds, I had three chicken strips and fries. The food was good. We did get our drinks when we got our food half an hour after ordering. This was our first visit, we weren't very impressed. This place was crazy busy for one server. We went on Sunday afternoon for lunch and decided to eat inside instead of in the car. The service was great, but you could see she was running around like a chicken with her head cut off trying to get to everyone. I got a Coney dog and fried mushrooms. Lovvvvved the the mushrooms, and it was nice that they didn't cost 10 bucks either. Coney was decent but not overwhelmingly great. Hubby had a couple burgers and fries, which he enjoyed. Unless you order one of the specialty burgers, you could definitely handle having 2 as they're relatively small. Overall, a nice little lunch stop. read more

My mom really wanted an A&W root beer float and since we don't have A&W stores near us, we stopped here while on vacation. The drive in experience wasn't great. The cars around us got served, but no one responded to us. I think the machine may have been broken. We ended up just parking and going inside to get the root beer float. Once inside, it was very fast. You can get the root beer float with either soft or hard serve ice cream. Hard serve is the obvious choice. I had some of the root beer float. It was good. My mood was kinda off when I walked into the restaurant because the outside of the restaurant look torn up, but fortunately the inside was good. They had WDIO news on a tv so that made my day lmao. The waitresses were nice, but the food took a little bit long to get to us, especially with the little amount of food we got, but the food was really good. I've always wanted to try an A&W restaurant. I've seen them scattered in various cities, but was never fortunate enough to have one around where I live. Luckily the city that my partner moved to happen to be right by an A&W restaurant. I decided that I needed to try it, so when I went to visit my partner I stopped off at the establishment to pick up some grub. I got us both a Papa Burger combo with fries. I also got an order of chicken fingers and a root beer float. The prices were great. They were honesty the cheapest fast food prices I've seen recently which was great. The woman who took my order was very friendly, but annoyingly it took about 12 minutes to get my food. Normally that's ok, but it's a fast food place so that kind of irked me. The papa burger was pretty tasty. I wouldn't say that it was the best burger I've had at a fast food restaurant, but it certainly wasn't the worst. I enjoyed the papa sauce on it which kind of reminded me of a Big Mac sauce minus the poor Big Mac taste. Overall it tasted like a fast food burger which I had no problem with. The fries were disappointing. My partner had talked up the fries quite a bit, but these did not make any sort of semblance to how he described them. They were floppy and didn't really have a whole lot of flavor. The chicken fingers were very good. They were big chunks of chicken breast in a softer breading. Normally I like very crispy chicken fingers, but these weren't bad. Plus the spicy papa sauce was delicious. I would definitely use that for other restaurants chicken fingers if I could. The root beer float was very tasty. It's the first time I've ever had a legit A&W root beer float and it held up to my expectations. The ice cream tasted good and the root beer was great. Together they made a delicious creamy concoction. I would go back for one of these. Overall A&W was good. It wasn't my favorite fast food joint, but I did not hate it, and if I was ever in the area again I might stop by and get a root beer float and some chicken fingers. The food was good. Exactly what you expect from A&W which I better than the average fast food place. The people working there were great! Very helpful and friendly. I'm from So Cal so there are not many of these places for me to visit and I had never seen one with a "drive in" (like a Sonics). Now, I've generally been an A&W fan since I first ate it at my humble little university back in California. Those were rough times, and I would get by with a nice set of fries OR, if I was feeling a little frisky, I would get an entire meal (double cheeseburger and all!). From my memory, the fries are golden and the burgers are great. Of course, that is just a memory. Friday, on my birthday, my partner came to visit me from Chicago, having never tried this chain restaurant but eager to. We got the same items (double, fries, and drink) but also got a little extra, chicken fingers and a root beer float (both of which I had never had before). Burger: It was OKAY. It doesn't compare to my memory of how juicy or tender and delicious the burger was. I mean, it wasn't bad, it was quite good, but just not as great as I remember. Fries: Nope. Nope. Nope. Nope. Nope. The fries were my golden staple and this restaurants fries flopped. They seemed old and very limp, in comparison to what I remember them being: solid and crispy. Chicken Fingers: Okay, this one was delicious!! Cannot lie, I really loved this item. Tender, but not too crispy on the outside. And quite juicy! Root Beer Float: HOLY COW THAT WAS FREAKING GOOD!!!!!!!!! Overall, maybe they were having a bad day - my partner did say they took a LONG TIME to get the food (I think they were busy). I worked in Superior for more than 20 yrs frequenting A&W often. I am retired and live 25 miles away now, but try to stop in when I'm in Superior, especially on "coney Tuesday's". Great owner, great staff and great food. And ohhh that root beer in a frosty mug. I would've given it 5 stars but the prior time we stopped here they closed about 2 hours after opening. When the worker opened up the door he said it was because they ran out of food.. kind of strange for a fast food joint..? I got the Butter Pecan flavor burst cone which was delicious. The cheese curds aren't state fair quality but the closest I've gotten from a restaurant stand point. Our waitress was training someone in and was very professional and upbeat (she had red hair). The burger have always been good here and hit the spot. I honestly don't know why A&W doesn't do better as a company. Except for that one time, I've never had an issue with any of the one's I've dined at. read more

Great drive in restaurant, food is cheap, service is fast, and the root beer is classic. The only thing I don't like about this place is how grimy the interior appears. But the food is clean and fresh so I continue going! read more

Super friendly staff, quick service, yummy food! My son ordered cheese curds and the waitress forgot and when I told her she got him the curds within a couple minutes and didn't charge us for them! The burgers were much above average for a fast food place. Fries are OK but the cheese curds are excellent. Place is clean and very family-friendly. read more
