I can't speak to the food here, because I didn't make it that far... I wanted to try a local spot instead of a larger chain for dinner, drinks, and to watch the UFC PPV fight. I called ahead to see if they had seating available, and if they would be showing the fight. The gentleman told me they would be able to have it on. I get in around 830p, walk up to the hostess stand and I am seeing all baseball on TV, which is okay it is still pre-lims time for UFC. The gal at the hostess stand told me I could ask the bartender to put it on. So I walk up and sit at the bar, I order a beer based on the tenders recommendation. I ask him if he can turn on the fight, because that is after all why I was there. He tells me that it wasn't purchased. Also that the majority of the bars in the area are moving away from PPV purchases because it costs too much. He continues to say that he knows Bdubs isn't showing the fights anymore either.. I'm now pretty irritated, because they can't play the only thing I wanted to watch, the good fights are starting in about 30 minutes, I have a full IPA, and I want to leave. I make one phone call to the local Buffalo wild wings, they tell me it will be on every TV once baseball is off, until then it is only on half of them.... At this point I chug my IPA, pay for my beer, and leave about as fast as possible. I LOVE this place! It's a very quaint and fun little restaurant/bar but don't let it fool you - they have some of the best burgers and drinks in the area. After frequenting the restaurant a few times, and meeting the owner, Russ - I was happy to report that I want to be a regular at this establishment! I have tried a few of the Lucy's and my favorite; the sloppy Joe grilled cheese. I can't even explain how amazing it is because you have to try it for yourself. Our table of nine came in about 4:30pm on a Saturday evening. The restaurant was so kind with reserving a table. The vibe is country (mid-)western: the place is adorn with generic metal signs, dark wood and hat / coat hooks on the booth. Our waitress Stephanie (I think she was a manager of some sort) was amazing; because of her patience and happy energetic vibe. The four stars come from the food (wish it would be 4.5 stars). Everything came out quick. There were generous portions. However nothing was a mind-blowing combination of flavors. The tator tots seemed to be a goolash mash up of cheese and bacon. There are a number of large televisions to watch any sporting game of your choosing. We ate here after running Grandma's marathon, and I absolutely loved it! I ordered a flight of beer, which came in large servings with four different selections for only $10. It was awesome because I was able to sample different craft beers from all over Minnesota. I also tried a "Lucy" which were burgers stuffed with different types of cheese. Honestly heavenly. I had the sweet chili burger, which came stuffed with a ghost pepper cheese, and also topped in cheese, fried onions, bacon and a sweet chili sauce. It was the perfect combination of sweet and spicy, and cooked to perfection. My friend and I also shared the totchos, which were HUGE homemade tater tots stuffed with cheese and also topped with cheese, fried to perfection and served with sour cream, bacon and scallions. I'm not your typical reviewer for this kind of restaurant. Primarily, I came to the Crooked Pint for the food. My review therefore is the reflection only related to food service and the restaurant itself. I visited this restaurant four times on two different trips to Duluth. Three of those visits included a Juicy Lucy as my main entree. Each time the food was excellent. I also tried the poutine, french fries, and a couple deserts (chocolate cookie, and apple crisp). Once I also tried some beer cheese soup of some kind. The only thing I didn't enjoy was the soup, which definitely had a beer flavor. Since I don't like the taste of beer, I didn't enjoy that. On my most recent visit I had only 20 minutes to grab lunch. I normally have much more time to sit down and eat a meal but travel plans for this to be a quick stop. I was very pleasantly surprised at how quickly and kindly my server took this into account. The staff at the Crooked Pint is excellent. This is definitely a good Pub to consider when you are looking for something excellent in the realm of a burger. I will return. . read more

This place was great. We had just rolled into town late and they did t even blink when we were seated. Our order came out quickly and was delicious. Our server was awesome. I had the nacho Lucy and by daughter had the sweet heat Lucy. Both were excellent. The sweet heat Lucy is made with ghost pepper...it was spicy like she was looking for! The cheese inside the burger patty definitely oozes out on the first bite. Burger comes with fries, or you can try the beet salad. With a group of boisterous teens and adults, we arrived on a rainy Monday, the 4th of July, and sat in the hallway while we waited for the place to open up. We're all from different spots on the east coast so I was particularly hyped about having an authentic juicy lucy. First came the enormous pretzel with beer cheese and all of us easterners were just delighted. The teens ordered mac n cheese, chicken pot pie, a turkey sandwich; not one of them finished their meal. Portions are large. My adult friend got the classic lucy with lettuce and tomato - she was unimpressed; her favorite thing was the cheese curds on the side. Another friend got the lucy with beer cheese (I don't remember what it's called) and was satisfied. Someone got a side salad with blue cheese dressing. I got the jalapeño lucy and while it was yummy and a little bit spicy, I was expecting more cheese inside the burger. The fried jalapeños on top were yummy and this was a MEESY burger. I resorted to using a knife and fork on the patty and toppings in order get a good bite with all the flavors and textures, and I left the bun uneaten; it was too much food with the fries and all. All three of us requested mayonnaise on the side. The kids devoured a dessert. An adult downed a pint of beer. The bill came. We were charged for each mayonnaise we ordered. We were charged for the blue cheese dressing. We were charged for the lettuce and tomato, which I understand, because the veggies didn't come with the burger and it's common practice in the east coast. Charging extra for salad dressing? Not mentioning we'd be charged for the mayonnaise? Common practice around these parts, is basically what the waiter told us. We sat for hours as the place didn't fill up entirely and for that time and space we were very grateful; then we said our tearful goodbyes in rain in the the parking lot and headed to disparate points east. read more

We got there at 9:08 and as soon as we walked through the door a server informed us that the kitchen closes in ten minutes and we should hurry and decide what we wanted. Then as we were just finishing our meal he brought us our check and said we can pay now, them two seconds after we finished eating the TV's turned off and the lights were turned off and on several times, it was now 10:05. Our server was pleasant, the menu had lots of options, ample parking (at least in the summer while no schools were in session), the interior was typical of a sports bar type setting and the location was handy. The food was just okay. Not great but also not terrible. It's nothing I'd return frequently for. Kind of middle of the road. Tonight we brought a few newbies to try it out and we'll, it was really just ok. Three of us ordered the Tacho Lucy, including myself, which I would say was about a 6 out of 10. One ordered a Beer Cheese Lucy, which looked good and he liked, and my dad's Reuben looked amazing (and should for $15) and tasted good. But my daughter's Lucy came empty. Yep empty. Which made her sad. That and it was so small. Like kid's size. We did ask to have it remade, which they did, but the oozing cheese is the best part, amirite? Last person ordered the Shepherd's Pie and to me it looked pretty similar to a Schwann's frozen meal. Pretty weak. Please don't be changin' things up. You were one of our favorites. Went there today for fathers day brunch. The place was absolutely packed, but all the staff were upfront about how backed up the kitchen was. Our bar tender (while we waited for our table) even offered to put our food in early for us. We declined the offer as we were in no rush. Once we got to our table we had great service from a young man. He again warned us on the wait for food, but assured us he would take good care of us and keep the drinks coming. Oh boy was he right. I wish I could remember his name but he was great. I felt bad because this fat old guy with a mustache was being a massive douche about the wait for food.
