A&W is always there when you need it. Quality food. Friendly service. It's PRICEY but their French fries are 10/10.

It took between 15-20 minutes to get two hamburgers and 2 fries,2 small drinks. We wanted to get a larger drink and larger fries. No we can't upgrade either of those. Whether I'm in Exeter, Visalia, or Tulare, the food is consistently very good and done just right. This review is specifically about the Exeter location and in particular about the outstanding service from the young man who took care of my order. It seemed to me to be a very busy time, but he never lost his smile, even when things seemed a bit overwhelming. That is so rare most places these days, but this guy just shined all the way from beginning to end, even though my order was somewhat out of the ordinary. A&W used to be one of the best places to eat. It just isn't any longer. So much has changed. The pickles are no longer good. The burgers are touch and go.... Depends on who is cooking and if the crew is on their game. The fact that they got rid of their original crispy chicken sandwich and chicken strips and went to these soggy (not crispy) replacements - BAD MOVE And what happened to the best grilled chicken sandwich ever?!! Another reason not to eat there for me. The root beer mugs are never frosty - they used to be - and the root beer doesn't always taste that good. The wait for your food is usually long and employees just act as if they don't care if you are there or not. It makes me sad. Do better A&W! Go back to the way it used to be. They have the best onion rings and the best cheeseburgers. I have really enjoyed the Exeter location because they do not short you on the amount of onion rings in a large order. I really like the ranch dressing and the cheese curds are yummy as well. read more

Absolutely terrible service. I get times are tough and people don't want to work but the employees didn't even acknowledge us. We were THE ONLY customers standing at the counter and in the restaurant at all. I stood at the counter with my parents waiting to order. We were never acknowledged, greeted, or even so much as looked at. After almost 10 minutes of being ignored we left and drove to Super Burger in Porterville where the food is always delicious and employees are friendly. We will never be back. The wait was average in the drive thru but the prices are comparable to a restaurant experience as oppose to drive thru or fast food and let me start with negative by saying do not order their cod sliders. The bread was smashed and stale and the fish was overcooked on one and under on other(soggy batter). The coleslaw was average. The fries and root beer float yummy for sure. $13 plus for 2 inedible sliders ( I tried) and fries, coleslaw and a float. The customer service excellent as expected and if I went with traditional food probably would have enjoyed my first trip since covid quarantine times. Me and my family went to the drive thru today, i didn't get the employees name who took our order but he was a younger guy with a softer voice, he sort of rushed us through our order no big deal, the food also took a long time again not really a big deal, but what got me the most is that he dropped my ranch on the floor picked it up and handed it to me, instead of just getting me a new one then slammed the window in my face like he was in such a big hurry when it was dead inside. We passed by this restaurant on the journey to and from Sequoia National Park. Desperate for food, we drove on through rural landscapes and the occasional small town and lemonade stands. (They still do that?!?!?) We spotted this restaurant on our way there, and ate there on our way back. Tired and hungry after romping in the woods for days, we pulled in the restaurant. Evoking a quiet, homey feel, but with the speed and efficiency of a fast food restaurant, we sat in a booth. The server was kind and courteous, and our food came quickly- myself ordering a bacon burger and a float. While drinking that delicious goodness, however, it spilled on the tables. The man working kindly helped us clean and gave us a replacement. He was very helpful, and I was impressed at the service which was given at a typically fast-food place. By then I was thinking: I wish there were more of these restaurants where i'm from! The burger, with bacon-y goodness, was very yummy, but I curiously found a *blond hair* in it........? Not something good. At all. Oh well- like the guy in Super Size me- i picked it up and threw it out. But- five stars for the service. Maybe that hair was a fluke. The only good fast food chain in Exeter, A&W still offers fresh hot burgers with cold lettuce like the good old days. The location is super convenient if you are driving through and there is ample room to park a travel trailer or RV. You cant go wrong with a good burger and a rootbeer or rootbeer float in a frosty glass mug. read more

The gal who initially started my order, was too busy with the online orders and handed my order over to a young man. I wish they had friendlier service. Are the people that work here on relax mode since they live in a small town? So we ordered a few burgers and the daily special which was a Coney Dog. I noticed they forgot my order of fries and they charged me the coney dog full price. The people hesitated in giving me my fries and just gave me an extra dog, but that really didn't solve the problem. The original price for a dog was $2.49 and the daily special was .99 cent. I only gave 1 star because I had to! This A & W sucks! Wasted another 10 minutes of my life waiting in their drive-thru and I was the ONLY customer, including both the drive-thru & indoors! I watched a boy mop behind the counter/register area, then begin to fill my order, go grab a trash can, complete filling my order & never once did he wash his hands! Witnessed & listened to the girl who took my order & the manager talk shit about my wheat-free/no bun/protein style chicken sandwich! I am allergic to wheat, so that includes 99% of all bread products, including fast food buns! This place is beyond disgusting! Thru out 90% of my fries & the 1 fry I did eat was stone-ass cold!
