I called around 10 in the morning and was able to get them to come out that same evening to change the lock on our curbside mailbox. They were kind enough to agree to use the lock that I had already purchased at Home Depot, saving me some money. To top it off, when they found out that the lock was missing the washer and nut, they offered to wait for me to go exchange it so they could finish installing it. Who does that?! People who actually care about their customers that's who. My husband and I moved into an older home and did not have all the keys to it; we needed to have our house re-keyed. I called 'ABCL' and was able to make an appointment for the next day. He took down my information and we made an appointment for an hour window. A month later i needed someone to take a look at my deadbolt lock that wasnt working. i was excited to see if Robert could help me agian since he just rekeyed my house. I called him several times throughout the day and not once did he ever pick up his phone. Just like the previous yelper wrote, i left him a message and he has failed to call me back. severely dissapointed in him! Another update on this... I received a message from him later that evening with his explaining that he was out with the flu and apologized for not contacting me back earlier. I had another great experience with A Better Cheaper Locksmith. I used them a couple of months ago to re-key my house and Brian did a great a job. He was on time, very fast, and reasonably priced. He gave me suggestions about how to change some older locks in my house and tested everything to make sure the new keys worked. He even gave me his cell phone to call if I had any problems or needed help if I was shopping for other locks at Home Depot. Bob came out today to install a deadbolt and his work is great. He advised me to buy a less expense Kwikset lock than the more expensive versions because they are more reliable and also let me know it would be less expensive for me to buy it myself rather than have him do it. read more

So, we locked ourselves out of our apartment. But we had a good reason: that reason, of course, was that we're dumb enough to lock ourselves out of our apartment. We quickly realized our predicament and looked for a locksmith on The Internet (or, as it's known around my hip apartment, The Information Superhighway). So we were sitting there thinking, Man, I want a locksmith. But not just a regular locksmith - a better one. A cheaper one, too. And suddenly, an idea came upon me: if only there were a locksmith whose name had those exact words! Thus began the search for my ideal lockpicker: I immediately began yelping for A Cheaper Better Locksmith. Well, searching for that produced no results, but after an hour and a half of fruitless yelping we eventually stumbled upon A Better Cheaper Locksmith. It was completely, entirely different from what I had in mind, but I was running out of options and my cat was screaming for food (he's fat, by the way). So after another fifteen minutes of careful consideration, I decided to give this business a shot. After a friendly chat with a representative on the phone, I was told Bob would be there shortly. And he was! Barely twenty minutes had gone by before I saw his Wrangler pulling up to my apartment. I really wish I had timed his locksmithery, because I'm fairly certain he popped it open in about three seconds flat. Success! The price was a reasonable $50 - very reasonable, considering he could just come back and open my lock and take my TV within 5 minutes. Thankfully, Bob seems like an upstanding guy and he at no point threatened to pawn my humble electronics. And that's the story of how I was able to write a yelp review from inside my own apartment. My long, waking nightmare is now over, and this story has a happy ending. Except my cat (who, to reiterate, is fat) was upset at not being fed exactly when he wanted to eat (which is always, because, again, he's fat). My husband and I had an emergency need for a locksmith late one weeknight. On our way back from a walk, my husband's key broke off IN the lock and we had no other way into the house, and no other friends or family with a key to our home. We called A Better Cheaper Locksmith and Bob came from Rancho Cordova out to Roseville and SAVED us. Seriously, he got the broken key out of the lock, replaced the entire lock, and chiseled us four new keys from scratch right then and there. While Bob was at it he noticed that the setting for our previous lock was improperly installed, so he filed down the door jam a bit so we could smoothly unlock the door--thus preventing future key breaking incidents.
