Bob is a top notch locksmith. He installed 5 entry locks in our home and rekeyed 4 of them to match. All our locks are Schlage- which, if you've done your homework, you'll know they are extremely difficult to do yourself (the rekeying manual is 19 pages long, requires precision and multiple steps to work). Bob is cognizant of the necessity to have everything line up perfectly to ensure that the delicate internal mechanisms don't wear out on electrical locks and that the strongest strike plates and screws are used for maximum security. When I called to have four locks re-keyed, which at that time I was in a sure panic. Horrible service, I'd give 0 stars if I could. I called Bob from A Better Cheaper Locksmith around lunchtime to see if he was available to fix a broken front door lock at my home. He said that he was busy, but had time around 2-3pm. He requested I text him the address, which I did after our phone call. My family was home waiting for him and he failed to show up between 2-3pm. After 4:30pm, we wanted to know if he would still be able to come over. I called and texted him at 4:30pm and 5:30pm and he never responded. We ended up calling Alph Lock & Safe at 6pm because we needed someone to fix our front door lock. Eddie, the owner from Alph Lock & Safe was fantastic. He promptly came over within the timeframe he gave us. He fixed the lock and provided excellent service. Bob from A Better Cheaper Locksmith called me the next day and left a garbled, unprofessional message. He said he simply forgot he was supposed to do something and didn't have my information. That was a lie because if he didn't have my information, how did he call my cellphone? And why did he leave a unprofessional, garbled message stating he "simply forgot'? He never apologized that he failed showed up to fix our lock. Bob from a Better Cheaper Locksmith is simply unprofessional. He's not the "best" because he can't even remember his appointment times, return customers calls or show up to the job. I do not recommend Bob or his business. Here's what happened: The office I am working for is closing its door, and I am left having to scramble to find someone to re-key a few doors a WEEK before the office closes. mind you, it is ONE week before Christmas, and it is a headache for all involved, but none-the-less the job needs to be done, and I enlist the help of BOB that everyone here on Yelp seems to love so much, and he promises to help me out. He asks me to confirm our appointment in an email to him, promises to make it not only on time, but have the job dine within an hour, and he asks me to leave a YELP review for him once the work is done. I do all of it, but does BOB ever show up????? NO! Doe she answer his phone on the day in question??? NO! Does he care? He didn't care about me! If I could give him 0 star, I definitely would. I was planning to hire him as my regular locksmith for my family rentals, and I was also planning to recommend him to my family friends who own a lot of properties. I liked his friendliness and reasonable pricing. I actually hired him twice to rekey the locks on my residential rental. I thought there will be more businesses with him... BUT The mailbox lock that he installed didn't work well. The key could hardly be inserted in and it was very difficult to turn the key. It was only 10 days after he installed it and it was the first time I opened it (the property was vacant). I called him on 11/11 to come back to fix it, he said ok. After 1 week, never heard from him, I called him again and left a message. No word from him again. After a week, I called him again, and left another message. Nothing still. After 2 days, I called again, and spoke to his assistant, he said he'll try to come back that day to fix it. No call to follow up. After another week, I texted him, he said he had to take his dad to doctor's appointments for the past few days. He said he would try to fix it the next day. No call. I texted him, he said he could probably go to my rental at 9:30 PM. He also told me to leave the keys out in front, which there's no way I would do that. I told him I need the lock to be fixed by 12/3. No repsonse. No call. No freaking anything! He obviously lacks the work ethics, responsibilities and professionalism. He would make himself available if he gets money. However, regardless he gets money from the job or not, it is his responsibilties to come back to fix something he didn't install well. I trusted his work so I didn't check the mailbox lock. HUGE MISTAKE!! 3 weeks were way more than enough time for him to squeeze me in his schedule. Honestly, how much time does he actually need to repair or replace the lock? I ended up replaced it myself in just 15 minutes. I could've done it myself a long time ago, but it should be him who should fix it because it was newly installed. Will I use him again? HELL NO!! Will I recommend him to anyone? Yah, if I hate that person. People, if you still want to hire him, I gotta be honest, his price is reasonable. But, make sure you check all of the locks before you let him go. The first communication with Brian seemed great and I was quoted a very reasonable deal based on mentioning Yelp. When I was given the quote, Brian asked me to call him the next morning with the address information. I called several times and received a voicemail everytime. By the afternoon he finally answered my call and said he'd call me between 4:30 & 5pm to get the address information. He never called and I called him every 10 minutes while waiting at the house for 3 hours hoping he would call with some great excuse. It's now the following day and he's yet to return my call. I think your assistant flat out lied to you because if you look at your call logs for that day then you will see my calls to that number multiple times that day. Will never use these guys again. At first they were prompt and came over to take a look at the locks to get my home re-keyed. They gave me a quote and set an appointment. They were no shows, did not call me and have not returned my calls. They seemed very fly by night. Having just moved in I needed new locks and went with another company that was much much better. Let me start off with saying that I love Bob Bob didn't actually unlock my car but he did refer me to a friend of his named Jeff who did. Bob also saved me from a nasty locksmith who had me waiting for over an hour and was going to charge me twice as much! I accidentally left my keys in my car with my car still running. I derped out. I called another locksmith company. They told me they would be there to help me in 20 minutes. It was an hour later and when I called them back the guy said he was only 15 minutes away. I was in a 15 minute parking space so I kinda needed someone there 45 minutes ago, so I called bob. I found him on yelp and prayed to baby jesus he would be able to help me. As soon as I called him a second later he answered. With such high reviews I decided to give this company a call. I was in need of a locksmith and I called the number on yelp and left a message, this was around 6pm. Getting no call back, thinking maybe I called late, I decided to call back (5 days later) in the afternoon. I had to leave a message again on both numbers that are listed on the website. This was in August, til this day I've never gotten a call back. I would've been ok making an appointment if the schedule was busy, but I never was able to even speak with anyone.
