I called yesterday to make an appointment for this morning. Everything was fine and I ended up getting a call that they could show up earlier because of a cancellation. Long story short Brian NEVER showed and NEVER called saying he was running late or had to cancelled. I even called him twice and he didn't answer. I called one Wednesday in a panic that I couldn't find my mail box key and desperately needed to get in. I wasn't even home-- I needed the babysitter to be there to check the mail. After stupidly locking my shed keys inside my shed, I found A Better Cheaper Locksmith in a routine google search. The first 2 locksmiths I contacted quoted me $110 and $135 to come out and cut my small masterlock. No thank you. I then called Bob at A Better Cheaper Locksmith and was THRILLED by his assistance. Bob came over and I showed him the locks that need to be rekeyed. When he saw that I have a brand new set of kwikset "smart" locks, he suggested that I take it back to Home Depot and get the standard locks to save money. He said he will come back and will charge me then. He gave me tips on locks and also talked about the neighborhood I just moved into. Just bought a house and needed three locks re-keyed. Called up two different companies and they charged $40-$50 just for the technician to come to the house. Three locks re-keyed cost approximately $90-$100. Then I found Bob on Yelp.com. He quoted me a price of $45 straight up! He was very friendly and the job was done in under 15 minutes. Cheap. But I am not sure it's better. Efficient first service with payment. Don't expect them to come back for service call to fix if anything goes wrong. Brian showed up at our first appointment on time. He's very friendly, efficient, and convinced me that I need an extra door (with 2 locks) rekeyed. I took his word, thinking who am I questioning the guy who's been doing this day in day out. Right before he left, I realized the locks do not catch - Brian was kind and helped me with a half remedy on the first lock and promised another service visit to deal with a second one. I paid $60 cash for 4 locks. The follow up service call was not courteous. He didn't show up for both appointments. On the second appointment, He picked up my call at the appointment time and said he's on his way, but never showed up. I left three more messages. The last call went straight to voicemail. I was disappointed. Especially after he mentioned that Yelp referrals really help picking up the business and he said they really try to give people great customer service. A courtesy call or an honest "I am not willing to fix it" would probably not be better, but at least I wouldn't waste an hour waiting. read more

We bought a house with a LOT of different locks - 14 of them! Bob was great and re-keyed all of them in about an hour and half and got us down to 2 keys instead of 7. Then before he left, he helped us reprogram our garage door and gave us solid advice about security. He also told us that we had a few expensive locks that will eventually stop working due to a flaw in the design so he advised us to change them when they started giving us trouble. He never advises people to get the more expensive locks due to this problem. So I know who I'll be calling when we need those replaced - Bob! read more

He came out next day to rekey the house and had an excellent price to boot. Also a big plus in my book, while he was servicing my home he received a call for a job that was outside the scope of what he does and he talked at length with the person, referring them to another locksmith that he thought would fit their needs.
