Stopped in after a getaway weekend in Door County with our grandson. My grandson adores country-fried steak. We were looking for a breakfast spot on our way out of town. When I read the reviews and spied country-fried steak on the menu, I knew I had found our place. We arrived around 11:30 and the place was about half full. A large table for 13 arrived about 20 minutes after us, so I'm sure that made the small kitchen very busy. My husband ordered biscuits and gravy, and my grandson and I each ordered country-fried steak with a cup of lobster bisque soup. I sort of expected the soup to come first so you can enjoy your soup before the rest of your meal gets cold. The lobster bisque was very good. The server brought out some of our food. Said she couldn't carry it all at once. My husband got his biscuits and gravy, and my grandson got his soup, eggs, potatoes & toast. I got nothing. I sort of expected her to come right back with another arm-load of food, but she stopped to deliver food to another table that had come in after us. Our server then returned with my grandson's country-fried steak, my soup and eggs, potatoes, and toast. As I reached for my spoon to sample my soup, my grandson said, "Can I eat this? It's raw." I looked over, and he had made one cut into his meat, and a disturbing stream of red blood was flowing out to mingle with the sausage gravy. As I looked closer, it was absolutely raw. It took a while to get our server's attention, but she came over. She explained they use a really good product, not the processed stuff I might be used to. She willingly took it back to the kitchen to make it again. She said the chef hand breads them, so it takes a while. By this time, my husband has finished his meal. My grandson has gotten his meal in increments and needed to send the main component back, and I'm still waiting. A few minutes later, she brings a new country-fried steak out for my grandson. We lift it up and peek underneath, and there is a disgusting pool of bloody red juices swirling with the white country gravy again. There is nothing appetizing about that. He said, "Can I just get biscuits and gravy?" I told the server that our expectation was that the meat would be cooked to medium or medium-well in a country-fried steak, not rare. She reminded me that I was probably used to that crappy processed stuff, and this was a real steak; a higher quality product. Seems to me that most of my prior country-fried steaks were a breaded cube steak or a tenderized steak. If this is a signature product, I wish they would have hinted about this by asking how well done we wanted it when we ordered it. It was probably another 10-15 minutes before my country-fried steak appeared. She said she had told the chef to make sure it was well done. She did acknowledge that we should be able to expect a consistent product from the kitchen, though. Sadly, my meat was SO well done that I literally couldn't pierce it with a fork, nor cut it with a steak knife. I left it and asked for the check. I choose to believe that the chef was attempting to cook the meat to my satisfaction and that what was brought to the table wasn't spiteful. The server said she was taking 50% off one of the country-fried steak orders. By this time, my grandson was going to be late for volleyball practice, and we needed to leave. This is a restaurant we are crossing off our list. We'll find someplace else to eat. read more

Mark this as your local favorite! The portions are huge, enough for breakfast and lunch. Absolutely delicious! My family of 5 enjoyed every bite! We always love getting a side of fruit for my daughter and this by far is the best selection of fruit I've ever had served, as it's usually cantaloupe and a grape most places we've gone. I Love the variety on the menu and how it's associated with the ship yard atmosphere. It's Family owned which I prefer as it's always an honor to support our neighbors. Our service each time has been wonderful with Lauren and also special with Brook. The food came out quick too! I can't wait to keep trying new items. Kudos!! read more

Good food and good service! Accommodated my 3 kids perfectly and gave them chalk to color (we sat outside)

I'm just reviewing my breakfast. My 3 companions loved theirs. I ordered corn beef hash and 2 eggs over easy along with raisin toast. What arrived was a complete shock. 1/2" pieces of meat mixed with fried potato slices with onions. Also 2 eggs fried to hard yokes. The meat that I think was corned beef was tough and inedible. The toast was well done and actually crisp through and through. I asked my husband to try the meat and he told me not to eat it. I told waitress and it was removed from our bill. My advice- don't order corned beef hash. read more

Heard there was a new place in town, we normally go to the other breakfast places in town, time to go support new businesses. The decor is cute and clean. The food was outstanding. I had an omelet with ham, peppers and onion. That's my go-to and it was nice to have it at a place that cooks the peppers so they are actually cooked. The menu has plenty to choose from; I'll be back to try their cheesesteak very soon. read more

Simple. GO HERE!! The food is real food. Generous portions, veggies are fresh and have actual pieces as opposed to so finely chopped you can barely notice. The corned beef was absolutely amazing. Big, delicious chunks of corned beef, perfectly cooked potatoes. Had the hash brown sandwich, barely finished it but had to because it was phenomenal.
