To start I want to stay this is a local, old tavern bar so if that's not your vibe then this might not be for you. My family came here to get some dinner. The waitress was very friendly and nice. The service was a bit slow because there was only one waitress and almost a full house, so we were understanding. To eat I got the seafood platter and my husband got the prime rib sandwich. The prime rib sandwich was massive and very good! As for the seafood platter it was also really good with a variety of fried seafood. This historic place is full of charm with pretty great food, friendly people and lots of hunting trophies. The cheese curds are a must order...they melt in your mouth. The burgers are huge and loaded with fresh onions so much so that it barely fits in your mouth. The fries are delicious and full of flavor. Don't let the name fool you. This is not a bougie place. It's in a grey stone building but it's a far cry from a castle. You need to enter through an alley and I was a bit apprehensive. We stepped inside and we're transported to a local hunting lodge from years ago, complete with taxidermied birds and animals. The food was excellent. We ordered the prime rib sandwich that they're known for and the 1000 cheeseburger as well as the best onion rings I've ever had. Everything was delicious! One drawback was that sandwiches are a La carte but where can you get a prime rib sandwich under $20 anywhere but here? So good. Service was great. We stop here every time we're in Door County. Always a friendly staff and crowd. Food is consistently good, and reasonably priced. Drinks are good, and service is fun and efficient. If you're carrying cash, they give a generous discount for that. Great place to watch a game, or just grab some good food. read more

The star is the prime rib sandwich -- my wife and I shared it and our dogs thought it was a great selection because they got what we couldn't finish -- cooked perfectly. They would use a couple of decent wines, maybe offer them by the bottle the way the nearly coffee shops do -- so customers take them home and the shop doesn't have to worry about wines going stale. Or offer some half bottles, but they often cost nearly as much as full bottles. Or offer BYO wines for a corkage fee or $15 or so -- Madison Ave Wine shop is half a block away with an excellent selection. (the dogs rate it 5 stars because they are focused on the excellent beef and have no opinion on the wine list, although at home they are partial to reds.) read more

Oh dang, that prime rib sandwich - it's just the best thing. I don't come to Door County often, and now I might have to just to get my hands on it. It's big. It's full of meat. It's so freaking delicious. The restaurant itself? Not much to look at. When you pull up, you'll swear you're in the wrong place. And if you've got kids in the car, you might be a little nervous about bringing them inside. And hey, if you're a friend to animals, you might even be put off by the hundreds of dead animals hung as decorations. BUT. That sandwich. Oh, jeebus. I'll admit. I'm a bit of a homer. Having a long history in our family in Sturgeon Bay, our memories of places like Greystone Castle go way back. This time, however, my brother and I were in town for some family visiting. We were done and about to hit the long road home and decided to hit Greystone for fun. While my brother enjoyed an Old Fashioned, I stayed on the wagon with a soda. We split an order of onion rings which were fantastic. All the food we saw going out looked amazing - and it was all priced very reasonably. If you're looking for a hometown bar with a ton of character, stop here. The staff were plenty friendly, and you're sure to strike up a conversation with someone next to you at the bar. The food tastes great and the portions were impressive. The service was friendly and attentive. The ambiance is the only reason I gave it a 4 instead of a 5. Because it is mostly a bar the restaurant lacks the quiet, and the atmosphere of a truly great experience. The menu offers a selection of really exciting choices such as elk and wild boar. I only wish they separated the restaurant from the bar because the restaurant portion does have a castle/hunters lodge quality that is pretty inviting. read more

There was only one server on duty -- Ashley. She busted her buns, was attentive and provided excellent service. She totally rocked and I'm calling her super server for not missing a beat. We've dined here before and it's one of our favorite Sturgeon Bay restaurants. If we lived here we'd be regulars. Friday nights the specials are prime rib and fish fry. We ordered cheddar cheese jalapeño poppers to start. Breaded and deep fried. Who can say no? Yummy. My husband ordered the blue bill. If it's on the menu it's his first choice. It comes with bread basket, choice of potato, coleslaw, rye bread and 6 pieces of fish. The fish are pan fried and could have used a few more minutes in the pan to crisp up. I love prime rib and seek out restaurants that serve it. Kudos to Greystone for having perfectly rare prime rib at 9 pm. Warning! This is a huge 2-inch thick king cut piece of meat that can easily serve a family of four. Of course I ordered it, knowing that the leftovers will make me just as happy as tonight's dinner. It comes with bread basket, salad. Choice of potato and au jus that is so good you could drink it. Nirvana. The best part is they included a small au jus with my take away box to have with my left overs. If you live here go often. If you're driving thru or visiting don't miss a chance of dining here. They have a nice selection on their menu. Cooked medium rare nice and juicy * Greystone Cheese Burger w/bacon, lettuce, tomatoes, grilled onions & pickles very good burger I really enjoyed . Ate just the bacon n cheddar . Came with pickles . Home batters onion rings they needed flavor . I like them a bit thinner they were about 3 inches tall. If you're looking for fine dining, this is not the place. If you're looking for a comfortable small town bar with an authentic feel, then that's what you're going to get. The dining room part of the bar is full of mounted deer and other trophies from hunting. In the bar, sports are always on and if there's something related to the Packer's, you can bet you'll find it being shown here. The dining hours are far more limited than the bar hours, but if you really feel like you need a meal, the bartender may be willing to fire up the grill--just count on limited options and a bit of a wait. Hands down recommend the onion rings--they're gigantic and flavorful. I haven't found any others that come close. It's a family tradition to come here at least once or twice over the Christmas holidays, and I'll be honest that we rarely order more than just drinks and onion rings. Food is standard bar fare, of the other menu items that I've tried. Restrooms are small, dingy, and grungy. There's a smoking shed in the back parking lot, ample parking, and they've never been closed when I've wanted to stop in--not even on Christmas Day. Some of the rating comes from the sentimental side, because this place holds a lot of memories. read more
