I had a crazy situation last night where I tried to install a NEST thermostat myself. I've done it like 20 times. But when I tried with my old NEST I took out of storage. Then I tried to put the old thermostat back and it didn't work! Panick set in as I realized I just screwed myself over in this heat wave. So the next morning I called AC Geeks at 8am. They had me on a 9-12 window instantly and had a service tech over by 11am. He was friendly and tested everything from my AC unit down to the thermostats. Took photos and documented all the equipment in case anything happens and they have to return. As it turns out, literally BOTH of my thermostats were broken! Crazy right? He had a thermostat on him, a basic one, and installed it promptly, and I was on my way! They also offered me a discout off of the quoted price. Which I thought was cool. Suren has truly created an incredible company and has amazing folks working for him. Few days ago, my A/C unit was running, but not producing proper cold air. I contacted Suren on Sunday and I had a technician at my house 9 am Monday morning! Alex who came to my house was amazing. He checked my unit on the roof and within few minutes found the part that was broken. Luckily Alex had the part handy and replaced it for me. My unit is running normal again. I had called them on Thursday to repair my AC that was not working. The technition came next day changed capacitor and filled very small amount of freon and said the ac will be working now. The AC did not work. I called and left massage for the technition on his phone several times with no response. I called the company AC GEECS several times, texted and left massage on chat, still no response. Now I am going to put a stop Payment on $500 that I was charged. Te hnician was polite and indicated he was originally Arminian and cared about his customers. I trusted him completely. What a mistake. I am 83 years old and this is very upsetting I believed all the reviews on yelp. read more

I really don't know how to start this but basically i paid $100 just to have someone come out to my house and tell me what he thinks is wrong with my central AC, basically my home was only blowing good strong air from one side of the house, and the guy that came over didn't even bother to inspect it, he basically blamed my AC unit that it's not strong enough for the whole house, I said are you sure that's it, then he said well maybe a AC hose for this side of the house is disconnected or maybe a small animal chewed through it. Then he said someone else will need to inspect the AC hoses and that would be an additional $195. Why would I recommend this company to anyone if they basically made me pay $100 for 10 min of nothing. Not cool, and not good service. read more

Repairman came out yesterday to give free estimate said we needed a new capacitor $350 and a booster, for another $350. Plus $49 service charge. $350 for a capacitor is ridiculous. I still don't know what the booster is and our AC ran fine without one for 23 years. I suspect a way to upcharge. I told the repairman I would pay $100 for the capacitor and $49 for the service. Understand changing the capacitor is the about the easiest component to replace. 5 screws to remove the access panel, one screw to release capacitor access strap, and 4 slip on spade connectors. It is also the most common condenser issue. The repairman said no and walked away. I think they thought we would be desperate as we were in a heat wave. I hopped in the car bought a capacitor from the Glendale AC supply store, came home, flipped off the circuit breaker, and an hour later (including travel time) our AC was working. Cost of capacitor $26. Yes decimal in correct place. Twenty six dollars. I thought that type of price gouging was illegal? I see from other reviews that people are calling the geeks honest. Is that kind of mark up honest? Mind you $26 is the cost to consumer off the street, full retail. Geeks might even be paying half that price as they are contractors with accounts and volume. Lots of youtube videos on how to do this work. Caution needed, eye protection, rubber gloves, as capacitors can hold a lethal charge. Basic electricity knowledge needed. Mine comes from an electricity class I had when I was 13 years old in the 8th grade. Also, the repairman lost one of the access panel screws and did not replace. $26 PART AND GEEKS CHARGE $350 !!!!! read more

Like other recent posts (7/1/24 and 6/25/24), the technicians who came to my house were dishonest and trying to squeeze money out of me. They claimed they needed to take my defective part with them so that they could bring a new one; it was clear they just wanted to solder something onto it and then present it to me as new. My HVAC unit was working, but leaking lots of gas - the piping going into the unit was loose as well as the Gas Valve within the unit was loose and not working properly (leaking gas). AC Geeks came out and noticed these issues but did nothing to resolve the issue. They hold me I had to contact the gas company and to then turned off the gas to my HVAC unit. They did nothing to fix the leak. Now I have NO heat at all and this company has left me high and dry. To be clear, the tech Alex was very nice but I was caught very offguard by this situation. **Updated to 5 stars**. Sean followed up with me and was very kind - he explained how the process worked and assured me that I would be taken care of. It's frustrating working with the Home Warantee company, for both them and me. I will again update this review pending any subsequent action as so far nothing has been 'fixed' to address my situation. Sean and Alex took care of me. My unit is now functioning as expected, but it appears I may need new ducting - which isn't a part of the home warranty. Thought these guys were awesome...BUT... They installed a Goodman unit at my house through a home warranty plan.. the guy said it was a good one and he went under the house and said he put a filter in and to change it in 6 months.. well... fast forward to a year later. I hired someone to change the filter... there are 3 filters that needed To be put in and there are NONE!!! And looked at the unit and it's the shittiest energy efficient model... He came as a referral from my next door neighbor. My AC job was a little complicated because the system was so old and they had to open a wall to place the new unit inside it. I am really grateful for Sam, Tony and his team at AC Geeks. They saved the day (2 days in a row) for our company. We had 2 systems go out the day of and the day prior to an open house party and we needed both units fixed urgently. I have to share my exceptional experience I had with A/C Geeks during a time I was struggling to find time to coordinate the replacement of an AC unit at a rental property while I was away on vacation in France. I gave up trying to get my home warrantee company to replace my unit with a satisfactory one for my renters who suffered 1 mos without AC in California heat due to their runaround. Instead, I preferred to pay more out of pocket and have AC Geeks do the replacement with a better more appropriate unit at a very reasonable price. I found them online after reading great reviews. Thier professionalism to promptly answer my calls and requests meant more to me than saving a few dollars here and there. This meant a lot to me because I did not live in the area any longer and also was away on vacation. They organized everything, took photos before and after and gave me exact model number it would be replaced with. My heater tested positive for carbon monoxide when the gas company came out to turn on the pilot. Luckily, it was still under home warranty so Old Republic contracted AC Geeks for the job. It was listed as rush due to it being winter and I got a call that same afternoon. They set up the appointment right away and gave me a quote on the price of the unit, installation, and haul away. On the day of the appointment, we set up a tarp for them to work on and they kept the area very clean. They even vacuumed and swept afterward and finished the job in under 4 hours! I scheduled an appointment with a technician recently to fix my air conditioning. They sent an inexperienced employee to come and fix it. He first told us that he has to charge us $750 dollars to fix it, then told us that he couldn't fix it and that we have to get a new air conditioner but then told us he has to charge us $99 dollars for a diagnostic fee. He took the $99 dollars without even fixing it. A few days later we called a different technician and he fixed the air conditioning for only $300 dollars.
