I visited Asia on 12/27 for my first Deva appointment with her. She asked me questions about my current wash and styling routine and made recommendation based on what I'm currently struggling with my hair. I started to lose volume at the roots and within two hours of styling my hair fell flat and lost all the volume I got from diffusing. As she washed and style my hair she explained everything that she was doing and I learned that for my hair I have to keep product away from my roots. Also my hair needed a cut to help with the volume since it was almost the length all around. Thank you Asia!! Best part is that she's less than 15 mins away from me. I was so impressed with Asia's instructions for my wash and go. I swim laps daily and have been over-conditioning my hair. Asia showed me how to correctly apply the products I'm currently using. She had me hold a mirror so I could see how she handled my curl from the back. The experience and the outcome was amazing. I was at my wits end when it came to styling my hair. I was tired of the maintenance of natural curly hair. The first time I met Asia, she promised that if I followed her advice, I'd only have to style my hair once per week, and there would be no nightly routine. When I tell you, she was telling me the TRUTH!!! I no longer have wash day. My wash n go ritual is about 30 minutes (including wash and style, AND I sneak in a face mask/scrub), followed by sitting for an hour under my dryer. Thats it. Asia is phenomenal! I have been a natural my entire life and have gone to several "curl" stylists in the past and I have NEVER had a stylist that is so passionate about equipping me with the knowledge and skills to understand my own hair! In the past, when my hair would act unruly or appear stringy and thin, I just assumed that it was time for a haircut to make my hair look fuller. Nope, my hair was dehydrated! It didn't need to be cut, it needed to be nourished and cared for. But like many naturals, there is so much information online you never know quite where to start to bring your hair back to life. You try all these different methods online and for me, my hair never truly looked or felt hydrated. Thankfully, I made an appointment with Asia and she was incredibly helpful. Despite her schedule being completely booked on my requested dates, a quick phone call and I was both surprised and thrilled that Asia was able to accommodate me the following day. The location is intimate and quiet, great for those who prefer a bit of privacy. Asia first inquired regarding my current hair-care regimen; following, she provided implementable suggestions on how to revise my current practice. I am blown AWAY by how skilled, hospitable, and creative Asia is!!!! I have not EVER seen my hair respond this way to shampoo, conditioning, and styling!! NEVER!!! My hair texture is VERY tightly coiled and there's a whole lot of it. I also have a large area of heat damage front and center. Asia just went right to work and since I'd booked the Goddess experience, which includes a walk-through of techniques applied and products used, she gave ALL of that. She taught me why the products she chose were suitable for my hair type and what their characteristics were. She also explained what I could expect from my hair during the process of cleansing, conditioning, and styling. She cut my hair and the SHAPE, people, the SHAPE!!! This has been my DREAM for so long!!! Naturally curly hair with a great shape is just ELITE! Lol! Asia cleaned up my shape by taking off enough to make my hair look like an actual STYLE, but without taking off all the damage in the front, because she didn't want me to become discouraged or have trouble making the adjustment to my new look and new regimen. In addition to letting me know what I'd see in/from my hair during the process, Asia also told me what I could anticipate in the days after I'd left the salon. Spoiler alert: she was absolutely right!! I am so glad I was able to get on her schedule!! The wait in between available appointment is pretty long at times, but listen: SHE WILL TAKE CARE OF YOUR CURLS AND TEACH YOU TO DO THE SAME. Oh, and the time frame for everything including shampoo and conditioner, dryer time, styling, walking me through what to do at home AND taking "after" pics? About 2.75 hrs. I have been wearing my hair in its natural state for approximately six or seven years now. In that time, I have watched many videos and read many blogs about how to "deal" with this hair, and for much of that time I remained discouraged. In addition to that frustration, finding a stylist to "deal" with this hair was also discouraging as there are just not many (if any) in the OC area. So despite being "a natural", my hair is almost always tied up and back. I was in communication with Asia before and after I made my appointment and then I asked if she provided color services because I did not see any on her website. When she confirmed that she did not provide color services I cancelled my appointment. My cancellation was 6 days prior to my scheduled appointment. I allowed for 3 business days to pass and then I inquired on the status of my deposit. I received a text message along with a screenshot (from acurlywalk.com) stating, "my policy is that I do not give refunds for deposits", yet the cancellation policy provided from Square (where deposits are collect) states, "Canceling or Rescheduling Any cancellations made less than 24hrs prior to appointment may result in a non-refund of the deposit for the scheduled service." The operative word is MAY, so it never occurred to me that I would not be receiving my deposit back in the event that I could not for whatever reason make my appointment. I checked her website again to see where the deposit "fine print" is located and it is located under her Location Tab. I already had the information regarding her address in the invoice which I paid my deposit, so there was no need to look further on her website. This is an inconsistent practice and if her policy is not to provide deposit refunds it should be stated at the time of the collection of funds or in plain sight on her website. read more

I was recommended to Asia by my cousin and I immediately made an appointment. At the time my curls were dry and it felt like I had 3 different textures of hair. As soon as I walked in to Asia's studio she had such an energy about her that I knew I could trust her with my hair. Her knowledge of what my hair needed, how to hydrate my hair, how to care for it was more than I have ever heard in my life. She cut and cared for every single curl meticulously, made sure that there was no frizz and didn't let me leave (with love of course) until she was fully satisfied with her work.
