I had a great experience here. Owner is genuine and welcoming. I particularly appreciated his patience with my many questions. Jeff is incredibly knowledgeable about flooring, carpet, and how to properly protect your floors. Listen to him! I chose a taupe brown striated carpet in a cut and loop pattern (my current favorite for toddlers and a bit of softness). I had a 9x12 cut, bound, and backed with felt to protect my new LVT. I struggled with the cost of each step, but am very happy in the end. The carpet remnant, binding, and felt backing seemed to all come out pretty close in cost. I chose a more expensive carpet. All in all I feel certain that I made the right choice to have an area rug made here rather than continue to shop crap quality rugs for the same price point. Things to know: -You are coming to a warehouse, no AC/heat, dust, loud blowers, no amenities. -This is a CASH preferred/only business. Plan accordingly. -Be in the state of mind to visualize. Carpets are rolled up all over the place and you've got to figure out how it'll be. Was in desperate need of a new area rug in our living room to go on top of our laminate but be big enough to protect it from the couch which was proving to be quite the task... most places did not cary one that was big enough or the right dimensions. Needed 10x11 or an 11x11 which was impossible to find. So I enlisted the help of my trusty sidekick Yelp and it introduced me to A Cut Above Discount Rug Binding... I spoke on the phone with the owner Natalie who was very nice and VERY quick to return my phone call. I wasn't sure if this was a store front or a warehouse so I wanted to make sure I called before making the trek to Rancho Cordova. She explained to me how they work and we set up a time to meet. I definitely recommend to call ahead of time. They're located in a an industrial area in Rancho Cordova, in a small but efficient warehouse where they do everything right there on site. There were a good selection of carpets that were big enough to cut to the size I needed. They have carpet of every size/color/pattern...seriously, it would be hard not to find something there that would work for you. And they do it right there. They did ours in less than an hour, we ran to the bank to get cash and then grabbed some lunch and it was all ready to go when we returned. They can also do cool designs and different edging finishes which will take longer. You can basically design anything you could every imagine. We picked out a rug and binding and were quoted a really good price! I was like "that can't be right!" but it was. We opted to add a felt backing at $1/sq foot which doubled the price but still we paid just under $250 for a 10x11 bound and backed area rug that would have cost us well over a $1,000 dollars anywhere else. Natalie was great, very helpful and knew what she was talking about. I regret I forgot the gentleman's name who also helped us but he was very helpful. Overall, an awesome experience we will definitely use again should we need another rug in the future. I've also already told a few people about them. I highly recommend this place. I don't leave reviews normally but after dealing with this company and the owner Jeff, I feel the need to warn others. We ordered a rug from SNG carpets and had Jeff do the binding. He did the work and delivered with no problems. And initially I thought he was good enough to give him more work. So I asked him to do the same work on an area rug we had cleaned. He agreed to do the work and finish the work a couple days before New Year's and asked me to come pick it up. He told me somebody would be at the shop between nine and 12 and I was there at 10 o'clock. There was nobody there. He said that I could only come at this time because they were going on vacation and wouldn't be available until the following Monday. I called him several times and got no response. So on Monday Jeff calls and says can you come get the carpet. I asked him why he wasn't there on the day that he told me to come get it and he said "I don't know what to say". I was a little upset but I paid for the carpet and left the shop thinking I'd never hear from him again. This is where it gets crazy. He calls me up in the evening same day and says he forgot to put the pad on the carpet and that he was going to come by and drop it off. I said fine. He shows up at my house and hands me a wet carpet pad. He said it was just wet from him getting out of the car and walking to my front door as it was raining that day. The pad was wet throughout the whole thing and it was obviously wet from some other reason. And I said to him you're telling me that this is wet from just you walking from your car to my front door and he said yes. I couldn't believe his response since obviously it could have gotten that wet from just a few steps that he took. So now he's lied to me twice. Well I certainly wasn't gonna put a wet carpet pad on my newly finished wooden floor. And after just lying to my face about how it got wet I told him I wanted a new pad and told him to stop lying and slam the door in his face. Long story short Jeff calls the police and tries to file a false assault charge against me. After telling him that I had video of the whole conversation he changes his story with the police. I told the police I just want my pad because I had already paid him in full. Jeff has refused to deliver this pad to us. So now he stole our money and we're out a pad for carpet. This man is someone you don't want to do business with, is dishonest, and untrustworthy. Since he tried to file a false assault claim against me I can't trust this man whatsoever so I'm going to have to file a grievance and probably go to small claims to get the money back. read more

Just had an awesome experience at this place! I recently bought a new minivan to transport my two dogs. I removed all the seats in the back and cut some nice carpet to fit perfectly inside the back of the van. I also needed to have a square cut out that could be put in and out if I use the one seat I left in the van. The only thing missing was to finish the edges of the rug to look nice and prevent fraying. I Stopped by the shop and met with Craig. He was able to put a professional edge on my rug and cut out. They look great! This was not an easy job. My customer cut rug had a lot of inside corners and strange curves to fit the inside of the van. Craig was able to work around the challenges and produce a professional result. The pricing was more than reasonable as well. I'll definitely use them again in the future for any rug binding needs that may come up. read more

Really? Non communicative. Combative, excuses after excuses. Tells me he lives through his phone and to send him all correspondence through that platform for communication. HIS PHONE! Then, he tells me he doesn't know how to use his phone! WHAT? He said it would be done in two days. 1 month later we received our carpet? He lost our paperwork. Didn't know who we were when we followed up to ask where is our carpet was? When we finally received our carpet (that we gave him, by the way) he used a section of carpet that HAD A STAIN that we TOLD HIM NOT TO USE! ..... Did it anyways! $250.00 later. Not happy. Jeff is super nice, friendly and helpful. Found a carpet remnant at a local carpet/flooring store and within a week of ordering, Jeff picked it up from their warehouse, binded the 12x12 area rug and even delivered it to me for a small fee and got it done so quickly just in time for the holidays. I'm so glad I found this place! They offer a great binding price and did a really good job on my large area rug. He also noticed a tear in the remnant carpet and notified me right away and was able to fix it and the place I bought the carpet from took care of the cost.
